α Patroklos General Discussion/ Q&A

I have a question. Is it at all possible to replace 2143aB with an FC 3aB in combos such as following up 8A+BB? Otherwise I only use the FC version for after blocking lows. Just something I've been wondering that I'm sure someone knows about.

Yes. You want to do 214 once you hit the ground. It took me a while to get it down. I still have some trouble on 2P side.

Ah, reading through this thread has answered so much! I have one unanswered question, however, and I'm unaware of a better place to ask, so if there is one, please kindly redirect me (I ask here because I main aPat and this quite frankly castrates my ability with aPat, and we all hate Eunuchs). I'm a pad player simply because I've never been able to control a stick with rapid movements, and I haven't the money for an arcade stick. However, I struggle so terribly with 214 from the 1P position, which has forced me to replace 214a:B with varying follow-ups, and I don't like gambling. This also causes me terrible issues with CE from the 2P position, and my only saving grace has been a slow, careful, buffered input.

I know SCV is fairly forgiving with 8way inputs, especially for CE's, and I've about given up on even hoping that some day I can consistently get this. So I wonder if anyone has found an alternative way to get this input that can allow me a consistent Twister, whether it's buffered or not. My understanding is that a:B is the most important part of the JF Twister, so would compensating for my gimp thumb via unorthodox directional input nullify my chances of a JF?

Here's how it is of what I've understod: JF twister can be done 2 ways
*1st in a crouching state, holding the 3 direction (down right 1P side) and then sliding your thumb over a:B very fast for succession
*2nd by doing it with Dawn Haze (214) + holding 3 direction again (1P side) and once again sliding your thumb fast in succession.

However, with the first example, you can't get it to work with combos (maybe some, not sure), like doing a double JF Twister. It is very important that you know your Haze stances and the following direction + input for succession in combos. Acctually it seems that the Haze stances are much faster than doing 8way run or what not.

Ooh and same stuff is for CE but here, there's no shortcut. You have to do the 214214 CE-button (2P side).
Only way to be successfull is to acctually practice, like a maniac, that's what I did xD

Speaking of unanswered questions, I have one.
So there's normal running back and forth (4 and 6 direction), but is DH-ing and TH-ing rapidly faster than doing the 4 or 6? I'm not able to try this, because I'm just not very good with doing it that frequently.. yet u_u

I've gotten so good with JFT that my game is actually suffering from always trying to see the white flash lol. This move is so good I tend to forget that his basic tools are also very good. My main problem with aPat is lack of a good mid range step kill. 66a is good but only so many times you can use it till it gets ducked. I've been using wave dash into 66a trying to discourage ducking with the threat of 33b.

I'm very very consistent with JFT, 2143b:b and ag:b but only about 50% with 1b:b and 25% with 1a:a:a. I really don't use 1b:b in combos cause I tend to whiff it. I can get the JF but can't find the timing to actually land it after like CH 33b.

aPat throws are awesome and can hit JFT very consistent but am having trouble with 1 player 214 b+g. In training it shows my inputs are precise but only get regular b+g throw. Anything tips?

Yes I know. I just need to condition myself to use only in combos and punishment/interrupt. I'm really surprised at how easy JFT is once you figure out the timing.

I guess you could say a JFT after 2B+K is legit tech trap? But this won't work on players who know you'll be trying for a 2nd attack after the 1st. Like I do 33B and then a JFT.
