After SCV is released, will anyone still play SCIV?

As for VC killing the community, I actually disagree with that assertion, too. The American scene wanted desperately to hate SC3 because it simply wasn't SC2, and VC just became a convenient excuse on which it'd hang. Actually, the overall tenor of SC players was similar to what we've seen in this thread, which is why I'm particularly on guard against the whole self-fulfilling prophecy thing.

Agreed - VC wasn't any more or any less impacting to SC3 gameplay than any other glitch-come-mechanic. SJC in F:UC, Boost in HNK, ID in GG, plinks (or even vanilla links) in SF, SJC and unblockable wake-up in SFIV..... the list can go on for days of acceptable "broken" mechanics that fans and anti-fans put momentum into. Sometimes, the mechanics become staples. Other times, they're used as excuses and out-of-context examples as to why the game is "broken." Of course, today, we have instant-gratification-whining on forums and other sites that only propels "us versus them" in regards to rabid haters and trolling elites not understanding superficial mechanics..... :\

Having a weak online offering is a nearly instant franchise killer when it comes to the masses, as well. Tekken 6, KoF 12 and SCIV all suffered murderous damage because legitimate matches were no longer accessible by everyone. Disregarding the "pro vs cas" nonsense, there is no excuse for a game to be inaccessible to anyone. If I can successfully block a quick low -> mid in SCV and Cervantes no longer has an unshakable stun loop online - that puts the nails in the coffin of SCIV for me alone.

Speaking of those internetz pro-weaboos, the only self-fulfilling prophecy I have is that SCV is going to take a dip in popularity because the mechanics don't lend itself to copying whatever people on YouTube do while lollercoptering their trolololo..... unless the online is crap.

I miss the arcades. We would just beat up people like d-i-s or stomp on the toes of MvC infinites.
At minimum, the community would shame Maxi players into actually learning what the buttons do...

It's called shadows. I have deep set eyes. Also, this was shot with a built in webcam for a laptop. Lighting sucked, and I'm not a photographer at all.

Cannot unsee. You are forever a Craigslist ad to me.
You spent so long making excuses for the aesthetics of your picture that you didn't have time to fix the grammar in your sig. :'(

@Supa

Oh right I almost forgot, your Sig has PERFECT grammar.

Lifebars are sooooo friggin' heavy.

You tell me, what's wrong with this picture? Can you say, "HYPOCRITE?"

You're weird.

There's a difference between taking a few flavorful liberties and not knowing how contractions work in English.

I might go back on it with a few friends online and what not, For nostalgic purposes, playing characters like Talim if they don't get in and what not.

IF your referring to my Sig saying "your" instead of "you're", I chose to leave it on purpose. Why? Because this isn't an English paper and I don't give a shit if it's wrong.

But the fact that the game had such serious glitch wasn't helping in any way. A lot of people considered SC3 a joke because of the bugs and balance, which is why the game died worldwide.

Also, I wonder why hadn't you guys switched to NTSC-JP version (same as pal) which had less glitches and somewhat better balance? The NTSC-US was absolutely the worst version of SC3 available.

I will still play because I liked the armor break as it was implemented in part 4. The amount of clothes that broke off was excessive, but I liked the way it kept my friends and I paying attention during fights. I wish they kept it the way it was just not so much clothes falling off. I hope they bring it back for part 6

I will forever and always play SC2, because it is quite possibly my most favorite game ever.

However, just the sight of SC4 makes me cringe. I hope I never have to see that game again. I gave my copy away over a year ago.

That said, no. :D

I still play 3 every so often. Perhaps I will play 4, though i do not plan on selling it either.

The way I see it: 4 is more like a short opening to 5. 5 seems to play heavily off of 4 (which looking back, soul series did not really do that to often). I will still own it, but playing it maybe/maybe not.

i still play it from time to time along with sc1+2 and i still will do so just for the nostalgia, it's not as bad as some make it appear to be imo.

Uh oh...Somebody's trying to get into a discussion with Leinahtan using facts. Kowtow, just cut your losses, brother.
That would be the reverse - you pull one random source from the internet that had little validity and claim it as a fact. You could find "facts" that argue both sides.

If you want to make a proper statement, use the information in your facts properly.

The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed, both plugged-in trade publications, are indeed suspect. Lesson learned...

Fun fact:
Average salary of a full statistics professor was $84,342 in 2010.
Average salary of a full "area, ethnic, cultural, and gender studies" professor in that same year was $98,375.

You're really, really stupid.

how can one say "Go get SC3 AE". How? Its an arcade title, so therefore it is inaccessible to so many people...

Is there some way to play the AE content that i have missed? I really cannot understand why someone would say that..

But I play all the old Soul games from time to time. Its fun seeing how things change through the titles.

Not sure what area you are from, but it's not nearly as inaccessible as you would assume. I guess there's always Ebay, too. The System 246 is a pretty unappreciated piece of hardware with the 246 and Tekken 4 sometimes going for as low as $40 + shipping.

Specifically for SC3:AE, you can play the arcade title with PS pads and a VGA monitor. Or pick up an inexpensive supergun.

If you don't like any of those options you can always wait for/help with 246 emulation in MAME. :)
