Many people know there are weight classes in Dead or Alive 5 that would cause certain juggles to connect or miss depending on the opponent. However, what many people do not know for sure is the exact weight classes of the characters and what the weight actually affects.Most people are under the presumption that weight class affects falling speed. This is incorrect. All of the characters fall at the same speed. The weight of a character affects how high in the air they are launched or relaunched.

Thanks to the release of Dead or Alive 5+ we can now see the exact weight classes. This is because Dead or Alive 5+ shows off a move's height detail in the Move Detail information pane. In other words, it says how high in the air an opponent is when launched.

For my testing I attempted to get the highest launch possible due to the Critical (Threshold) system giving higher launches at higher threshold by performing a High Threshold Launch on an opponent in crouching state (sit-down stun to be precise).

So the following are the weight classes for Dead or Alive 5 from lightest to heaviest:

  • Feather - Eliot, Hitomi, Kokoro, Mila, Sarah
  • Light - ALPHA-152, Ayane, Kasumi
  • Welter - Leifang, Pai
  • Middle - Akira, Brad Wong, Christie, Hayate, Hayabusa, Jann Lee, Lisa, Rig, Tina, Zack
  • Cruiser - Helena
  • Heavy - Gen Fu
  • Super Heavy - Bass, Bayman

It should be noted that the weight difference between Featherweights and Heavyweights is the same difference between Heavyweights and the Superheavyweights.

Yeah, they make games where the storyline stays in 1990s like SF4 is.

There's two problems.
1. I don't think DOA storyline is the same as real life, meaning, in their storyline it isn't 2013. DOA1-DOA4 are only months apart "at the end of the 20th century", according to DOA2's storyline. DOA5 being 2 years after. It's safe to say that DOA5 might be in the 2000s, meaning Pai might be in her 20s. Late 20s to 30 at most. VF isn't the same as real life either.

2. Pai's birth year is shown, thanks to VF and its instruction manuals, but where is everyone else's birth years? Plus these are wikis we are talking about here. Not everything in wikis will be 100% accurate.

Eliot is cool, but not the male I'm looking for. I'm not one of those silly EliotxKokoro fanboys either haha(I don't know who started that trend anyways?). I'm just hesitant with a hint of childish behavior to say, "I kind of don't want to make silly fangasms like that in my head even though I get curious". Guess I got that silly "I want to be different" stuck in my head. ^^;
