So the Vita version of DoA5 is coming soon and they just announced the details of the new game's First-run content

The first production run of the Vita version will include a code to download cheerleader outfits for Kasumi, Ayane and Tina.

CE:

- Download code for 12 Paradise Sexy costumes
- Download code for an “Extreme Private Gravure” movie
- “I’m a fighter” custom skin
- Beginners guide with gravure
“DEAD OR ALIVE 5″ Original Soundtrack vol.2

There's also some new screens showing off a beach stage. Also, it appears that all the DLC from the original DoA5 will be compatible with the Vita version so players won't have to buy the DLC again for the Vita. Sounds nice, but I'm wondering if it works both ways. I'd like to see more of that beach stage.

I haven't followed the whole DLC schedule so I'm not sure when they actually released the CE costumes as DLC for non-CE buyers, but I believe that the new content will be available to console owners of DoA5 as well. Its probably just a matter of when.

Thanks for posting this, I'm certain that I'd be picking this game up day one. I'm wondering how much the CE will cost. I'm guessing $10-20 more? I'm quite certain that any Vita costumes will be compatible on the PS3 version of DOA5 of the same account though not necessarily right away since Team Ninja would have to resize them.

Characters that don't really have the play the stun game seems like they would be on stronger end of the game. Mainly because they don't really need to guess for damage if they don't want to and they can just force a 50/50 or whatever when they need to. So characters like Jann Lee and Kokoro definitely fit in that situation. Helena's up there because of her huge arsenal of guaranteed forced techs and there's no real defense against that (something that may change in the future).

I imagine that Sarah would probably be up there too because she doesn't have to play the stun game either, and she has a few forced techs herself. I'm not quite sure why Lei-Fang would be up there, though, I must admit I haven't really paid much attention to the tier listings or to Lei-Fang.

I would kinda like to think Rig is up there in terms of strength relative of the other characters. With lots of guaranteed CH strings and even some FTs himself, I imagine he's in a good position. Though he does have to play on the stuns.

Pai? Considered top tier? I wish but she's lacking way too much in too many important areas isn't she? like crap damage. low damage counters. low damage grabs. no guaranteed setups. bad gap closers. there is too much going bad for her compared to others. but I still love her forever and revel in beating Jahn Lees and Helenas with her.
 
Yeah, Im also curious as to why Pai should be considered top. She doesn't seem to have anything particularly amazing going for her.

And is it just me or is Pai's 66H+K godlike against Helena's BKO stance?

Without said techs she would be garbage. There are plenty of defenses though. It's worth noting that hand slaps result in a psuedo tech, not a true tech. The first thing you can do, if knocked down, is tech yourself. Since most of her quickest followup options are linear, sidestepping after you tech is a good bet. The second is to space and keep her out of your face because her ability to get in on you isn't the best and the third is to block more and wait to punish. She's unsafe and slow and lacks any unblockable moves or unbreakable throws. People are too quick to throw out phrases like "no real defense against that."

Here's a nice example of anti-Helena play. It's not flawless either, which just goes to show you don't need to be a Jedi master to beat somebody playing Helena.

In general, the VF characters have better frame data than the DOA characters due to Sega insisting that they not be changed much.

That said, we're only just starting to build the match-up chart so we won't have a proper, logical tier list any time soon.

Blue serape outfit coming to doa 5 as DLC?

I dunno how to feel about an improved version of NG3 considering I have no plans to buy a wiiU. The previous version was such a disappointment too. Maybe if it shows up for the other two consoles I'll start to get interested.

By the same token I'm starting to feel some shenanigans regarding the release if a new version of DOA5. Please tell me I can get all the stuff bring added without needing to buy a separate SKU... This talk of the old DLC being compatible with the new game puts a bit of dread in me...

On the bright side, I think we all knew how clearly a beach was missing. Beautiful beaches have been a staple of Doa going back to at least 3.
