EVO apears to be not banning Algol

Congrats to all communities smart enough to not ban him early on. You now have several months worth of practice and experience versus him going into Evo!

I got a 404 error too, but it's not too surprising to hear either way. I'd be more surprised if they actually banned him.

I wonder if the french and dominican republic players will be preparing for this, since they banned Algol and the SW characters.
 
From now on, everybody must look at the tournament result threads differently. The reason we ask "which character you used?" is because we need to know whether to shun you or congratulate you. Any character above A tier is forbidden. The true winner of all tournaments is the highest ranking non-S tier character user... even if last place! The only reason unbalanced characters are allowed is to frown upon it (and to give you the illusion of pride and worthiness). Truth or illusion is a fair choice. However, in my 100% unbiased opinion, fantasies are for porn, not real life.
 
Anyone feel like asking why they banned the bonus characters? I'm not complaining or anything...just wondering what was the exact reason they decided not to include them.
 
version 1.03...what if they come out with a 1.04 (and fix the hilde and hitbox issues)?

The hitboxes and ranges are different and can be claimed to not be part of the games intended balance. A person will practice against Cervy and will feel safe with the range but shura will start scoring hits on that feeling of range safety. It can be argued to just learn Shura's differenced...but that's probably why.
 
Yeah, I was aware of that. I just wanted to hear the exact reason from their side of it.

I was mostly thinking this...so there's hitbox and range differences, but that doesn't mean that a person entering the tournament shouldn't be responsible for training in accommodation for those differences. What you said about not being a part of the game's 'intended balance' might be the factor though; they are labeled 'bonus' and they don't have their own character slot, but that still seems a bit silly to me. Like I said though, I don't exactly care too much either way (less characters for me to worry about), just curious to know they're exact reason. For Brawl they allowed items, so I was under the impression that it'd take a lot of brokeness to warrant a ban.
 
Whelp time to pick up Algol, pad hilde and Yoda. And if they fail Ill just use my regular characters...j/k
