Booing is bad? Since when?

I'll use a sport analogy for fun, the bloody Yankees. If you're a fan of baseball, there's a chance you'll be a fan of the team that isn't the Yankees. They're easy to hate, they're successful (Usually, haha), rich as hell and they're the Stripes. There are quite a few people who enjoy rooting against them, when you don't have a team to cheer for (Maybe they sucked and didn't make it to the playoffs or something) at least you can hope the Yankees screw up. When the Yankees grossly outbid your small market team for a player, you can sit back, drink away your sorrows with those who have been there and cheer for their failure. Besides it's all in fun and jest...anyone who takes this seriously...is well...ruining the fun for the rest of us.
 
Yes bibulus i didnt go to evo but immediately after the RTD v KDZ match one of my fellow south jersians (that was there) called me and told me how bad he felt that RTD had to endure booing while he was playing his match. There is no way that you can say that booing doesnt affect somebodies play...... Hype, screaming and cheering to the occurences of matches is fun and enjoyable during a tournament butttt maliciously booing somebody that is doing something completely legal is wrong. There was nothing worse than jin in T4 and there was no booing than. Whatever........I really dont want to argue this point cuz i love you tim.......Also i am feeling very good about this game right now and i am also feeling very good about the community BUTTTT like my idol ron burgundy always says we need to "stay classy"!!!

I couldn't make it this year because of damn work, but I watched the stream. Too Hype!

Serge, thanks for starting the booing. I could feel the energy through the stream. The crowd was into it, you could feel it. It was mad entertaining. The GG, 3rd strike, and Tekken stuff was boring, the crowd wasn't into it. I felt bored watching it.

Hopefully these bodes well for SC4 being back next year (along with T6). Time to get playing again. Good stuff KDZ.

:edit: What really matters is if Mr. Wizard thought the booing was a good thing. He is the one who decides if Calibur goes back to Evo right?
 
This was too epic. I mean you couldn't have scripted anything better than this. KDZ is a hero for doing the impossible. Omega's Zas was amazing and just a real site to see. Malek was just too dominant which was truly entertaining. Great play by both Hilde's and Amy.

But as epic as this was I think Nationals is going to be even more insane. Everything that went down this weekend is going to fuel everyone to take their game to next level.

FFS. That's seriously Booing any other top tier character in any FG. And to be honest all it proves is a POOR community.
Look at the SF4 community. Shit like "ZOMG ZANGIEF LARIAT IS TEH BROKENZ!" gets shut down almost instantly and the 99.9% of the community just regard it as a trash thread, explain why it isn't broken, How to deal with it, people get smarter and they move on.
Here it's all "ZOMG HILDE IS BROKEN!" and despite people explaining the holes and ways around it, the majority of the community sit on their BanWagon high horse and refuse to even learn that you can deal with it.
Look at how KDZ won. Look at How malek won. Hilde RO is cheap - If she can land it. It's slow and step-able. she can use it as whiff punish sure, but that means you took a risk that was step-able. RISK-REWARD, IS THE RISK WORTH THE REWARD? KDZ from what I saw took almost no risks against Ceirnian OR RTD.
C3A is nasty nasty business. If it aGI's. Kick's are gonna tear Hilde apart if she relies solely on C3B and aGI C3A.

Runis, it's OK. At least hopefully people will now stop bitching about Hilde. That's all that really matters.

All the really competitive players know she's beatable. And honestly, as long as the crowd has something that unites all the players together, that's probably for the best. Even if it means Hilde gets hated on. =(
 
Why wouldn't SC4 be at EVO next year? What other game could replace it...this shit was such hype.

Before Evo, I thought Tekken 6 will replace SCIV. But now, I hope there can be a chance for both games next year. SC had great turnouts and results, I wish to see the game continue to progress. Mad props to KDZ for the good shit, and respect to Malek for taking it.

I agree w/most people who were actually watching the live stream, HEARING the booing it hurt our community worse than helped it. We don't need villains and heroes. This isn't dragonquest. I've been to Evo, and we never booed, even if we hated what we were seeing. The fact is, the USA players should have cheered the shit out of the USA players. NOBODY in Tekken 5 booed when Crow beat the japanese Feng player in grand finals when he first one. When he started the steve infinite, WE CHEERED! Maybe people forgot what they are supposed to be cheering for? If you want perfect balance and harmony, go play Virtua Fighter, cause you should all know by now Namco is not going to perfectly balance shit. Hilde is very beatable and if against an international player, do your duty and cheer THE PLAYER on.

.........yeah. As for the booing, I watched the GG finals that were on before SC4, and there wasn't nearly the same crowd involvement. It was said on the stream as well, normally a lot of players who would just skip watching and go look at whatever SF stuff was going on stuck around and watched because of the sort of face/heel scenario that was created, AND they saw Hilde lose, which has to be encouraging. In this case, I think it turned out to be a good thing. I can see the other side of the argument as well, you don't want to disrespect the player, but there are scenes that are thriving despite BLATANT disrespect towards other players, look at WC v EC in SF4, or everyone hating everyone in Mahvel lol. Maybe SC needs a villain or two.

And congrats to Omega which apart from the other players not knowing how to fight against Zasalamel, looked very solid.

The booing was insane and even if I wasn't there I could see how the crowd was into the game, and the commentators could felt it too !
So there is no way the booing harmed the community, it helped it a lot in the contrary.
I am happy that the Hilde players (Thughish especially, we all laughed so hard when we saw the caged stage, your mentality is far from the french one which is to stick to one character) didn't win the tournament. Happy too that the joke characters weren't there (Algol, Yoda, Apprentice, DarkVader). THAT would have harmed the comunity.

I hope the national champ will be a french one too hahhaah :D
 
Ask ANYONE ACTUALLY in the crowd. The booing saved SC4. The room was excited. Even people who didn't even play the game were into it because they even figured out that shit was garbage and were fueled when she got beat out. You people arguing over the booing theory or basing off the live stream...you weren't there. you just weren't there.

SC4 was amazing and it will be back. Thank Serge.

I'm curious what the top 8 hildes think on the matter. They are skilled players, we were booing the character, not them (cept the guy screaming cedric sucked, but that was more funny than rude). They may disagree with "ban hilde", but they will probably agree to the energy felt on the issue.
 
I don't understand why the booing was considered bad. They were booing the character, not the player. It got everybody involved in the crowd, who might have passed up watching the game. I didn't even think it was malicious, just good fun. I have seen way worse stuff in the arcade with marvel, and that worked out for that community. I just don't think it was a bad thing in my opinion. I boo the lakers when I go to clipper games, it's all good.

Hilde doesnt need the doom combo, she needs real tools.

But to say one mistake and its game over is why Hilde isnt respected is a bunch of bullshit. Have any of you ever heard of MvC2? If you fuck up once the announcer says fight YOURE DONE.
 
meh stop the hilde debate. Save it for another thread. NAMCO is removing it in PSP, there's a strong stance with evo goers to do away with it as well as an implication to staff organizers to ban it, and it is beatable.

Hildes will have the upperhand for now, but their days are numbered.
