If there was a Soul Calibur VI, prequel/sequel/reboot/retcon?

I believe a reboot would be benificial. There are many things they could have done better, not just with the story but gameplay as well. Rather then trying to cash in on the hype of other games; they should have just made a pure Soulcalibur game from the ground up continuing off SC4. However the biggest letdown for me, WAS the storymode. What I was actually expecting to see in SC5 was old characters in the storymode battles, just unplayable, like Patroklos would fight Cassandra. In SC4 Sigfried fought his father, he was a CAS clone but at least relevant to the story. Though after I saw what they did with Cervantes, I lost all hope. There is so much lore and so many ways that the SC story could go that it's a shame that the SC games themselves do not do a good job at showing it. Seriously, there is so much written into the background, biographies, history, relationships etc. that if an author could write an entire encyclopedia about it. It would be so awesome if SCVI could expand the entire story in a fully-featured and took itself more seriously.

I'd advise them to continue moving forward and perhaps remove the other leftover characters in the next iteration, giving us a fully fresh cast. I advise this because look at the people who "care about the story". They are shameless whiners at best, and I don't want those people catered to.
Either that, or nuke the entire series and start a new one using the important stuff from SC: We all know the characters (from every SC game) are cardboard replaceable stereotypes anyways.
Well something clearly changed with SCV's development. These new girls above just don't cut it at all. Natsu has a bigger bulge down south than freaking Voldo and Leixia's outfit is more revealing than Ivy's which raises some disturbing questions about Daishi. The incest vibes that the two siblings have is so strong that I suspect it was intentional and this isn't helped by the fact that Elysium's form is based on what Patroklos is most comfortable with... His mother in an outfit skimpier than Ivy at her most revealing. SCVI, he will either need to hold back the sexism to bring back characters like Taki, Xianghua, Talim, Mi-Na, Sophitia etc. because these are the characters people want. If not, someone's got to be there to keep Daishi in check because I really don't trust him with roster decisions. While, you do have a point you cannot deny that he has been cruel to the women who are so beloved in the franchise.

idc as long as Ivy's in <3 But IMO the best choice would be to do something shortly after SCV so they could fill the missing holes(Amy = Viola, Raph = Nighty, wtf happens with Kilik and the Azn squad, Ivy's ascension to Queen of the World, etc.) and introduce a plethora of new characters (and no more annoying pieces of trash like Natsu, Leixia, Xiba.) No prequel or reboot please, just to continue to troll fans of Talim/Hwang/Taki etc.

Definitely agree with ShaolinTiger, I really think they should do what MK9 did which was retell the story of the characters motives. Sorry but in my opinion, SC5's story was horrific and created more questions then answers. It was just bad even though for a fighting game, it wasn't as bad as some others but still, seeing the track record of the story Soul Calibur has had, SCV is definitely a disappointment compared to the older ones.

I wouldn't mind seeing a story like MK9 where they had chapters based on a character because I didn't play Soul Blade/Soul Edge so it would be cool to see what the characters' motives were and how they came into motion by at least SCIII. I'm pretty sure people wouldn't mind because SCV's story was very lackluster and besides, most the players care about the fighting engine more then the story so as long as the game had fun fighting and such, a lot of players would care less if the story was retelling itself. Plus, a lot of the veteran characters can make a reappearance. The only characters I remotely liked in SCV was ZWEI & Viola. The rest were just meh. I think the character who was the most undeveloped was Xiba but I'm sure you might know why I think that. He was a lame replacement for Kilik's style even though he had a more fun personality then his. Leixia and Natsu are like whatever. Pyrhha and Patrokolos are meh as well though I do like Pyrhha a little (curse her cuteness and soft demeanor lol).

So yeah, I would hope that SC6 just retcons. Retell the story and hopefully if they want to get back on path with the characters of SCV, they can do it the right way.

See now that was what I was hoping they would do. Replace EVERY character and start fresh. So in other words, they should've had a replacement for Siegfried, Mitsurugi (especially him), Cervantes, and so on. The only one who'd be hard to replace is Tira.

Reboot, Soul Calibur V's story mode was that poorly done in my opinion, they didn't even explain who the new characters are and what happened to the old ones.

You cited 3 iconic characters, then say Tira would be hard to replace. You just gave me a headache.
I mean't Tira's style since it seems like no one else would fight like Tira with her weapon. Siegfried's large sword style and Mitsurugi's samurai sword style are pretty easy to replace. That's all I meant.

Eh, just reboot it. Make it like the movie versions of James Bond or Batman where we just get the whole thing rebooted every so often but keep the best characters (so no waiting until the sixth game in a reboot to get Viola). AKA, the same old shit repackaged. Deep down that's all most people really want out of a franchise anyways.

She was part of a cult of assassins so any one of them could replace her. Project Soul could come up with some bullshit to replace anyone if they felt like it.

I would've thought that each member in the assassin cult specialized with their own weapon but meh, I guess what you said would work.

I think the only characters I could see not being replaced are Siegfried, Cervantes, and, iconic bull aside, Mitsurugi.

Nightmare doesn't count as being "replaced" or not, because many people can become "Nightmare".

Astaroth, especially, could have been EASILY replaced, but what saved him was Maxi's appearance, and with Maxi not being able to age, I'm sure Astaroth will NEVER be replaced in future installments. Ivy will never be replaced either since not only is she scantily clad. She's highly intelligent and she's asexual (I assume), so that means no kids for her.

Everyone else......

Taki=Pretty obvious she was going to be replaced. However, Natsu just needs moves that she can call her own, besides teleporting. She has her own personality though. Leixia is the same situation as Natsu.

One person you can't replace is Yoshimitsu because the title is passed on to whomever wields the demonic sword called "Yoshimitsu", hence why Yoshimitsu is in Tekken. Maybe the Soul Calibur games will show the origin of the "Devil Gene"?

It would be quite funny to hear that the latest Soul Calibur game would be called

Soul Calibur: Modern Warfare.
That would be just so wtf...

As for Nightmare, he is basically the series icon (well ok he was until V but you get what I mean)
You cannot replace him.

Taki should have been immortal ffs...

Raphael should not be replaced at all since, they can do so many different kinds of twists with him such as make him human again or perhaps even the antagonist of 1 game.

Then again, the problem with choosing which characters to replace is that everyone would not want their favorite character to be taken out. That is the main problem.

Well... unless you guys want Arthur instead of Mitsurugi.

That could be the perfect setup for Soul Calibur X Tekken. I can see that now
