Ivy matchups discussion and strategies

Well 9B is just as punishable as 6 on block, much faster startup, and actually better on hit than 6. Unless you're looking for pushback, 9B is a much better opition than 6.

Ivy 4B does sound like a good option, but you risk getting hit by a TC (does Mitsu even have any good TCs?). Maybe a 2A recovers fast enough to guard Mitsu's 4B? That would probably be best.

That's exactly what I'm looking for - pushback. But, I agree that 6(B) isn't a good option to begin with. It's simply the best of the worst. I would say just 8wr if you're really reading a 4B.

And no, to my experience, 2A doesn't recover fast enough.

Mitsu can also punish 6(B)2_8 with his 66A+B at almost any range for about 80 dmg. Talk about risk reward.

I didn't say 2_8 though =o lol.

But damn, why does this move suck so much?
I think both 6(B) and 6(B)2_8 are bad in this case, unless you are 100% sure he will 4B.

I will go into practice mode and check for answers to 4B. I know 44[A] works but.. death on block =/

6B (normal) should be good if Mitsu was standing right next to you, no?

But heck, I'll just chalk it up to either Ivy 4B or 8wr as safest options.

1A should also be an option, most people can't duck that on reaction. I'm guessing 66B would also work too, and its BE version would probably CH. Also 66A. Basically all the moves you wouldn't think to use at close range.

I'm not sure about 6B. It all depends on Mitsu's frame advantage/disadvantage. When he is at -2 or -4 it might still avoid Ivy's 6B.

4B is really devious... amazing evade, tracks and safe (due to pushback). Nerf =f

u know I been wanting 4B to have less tracking ever since the first week sc5 came out :/ but imo there are far more things to worry about other than his 4B

LinkRKC would run up and iCS Mitsu out of 4B every time - why can't you scrubs do that? =)

Regarding his 4B on a serious note, while it does track step like a bitch it loses almost every time to 8wayrun - worth trying out at least, maybe?

Aha! I anticipated your cunning plot MR Ring and I have subsequently started learning Algol, Viola, Mitsu, Omega, Cervantes and Yoshimitsu.

You can't nerf them all!

I'm wondering if a well timed CE would beat out 4B. That's quite a bit of damage for calling his 4B out.
That would probably take some strict timing, or a walk around... but if you're walking around you've got other options to do good damage.

Siegfried's a bitch to deal with.
Generally I hate characters that are guessing games.

So I took him to the lab and guess what I found.

3{B} all options can be canceled by 88K,-->214B 45 damage.
if you have meter, do 88B BE

his knee tracks to his left side, so if you are 1P step 88, if 2P step 22.

This is true for all chieftan holds.

so these step punish will work for sieg's WR{B} also.

No character has an answer to his 3(B) shenanigans.

Generally, you should block 3(B) and then step into a TC attack. That will beat both SCH A (since it's a high move) and step SCH K (which is not interruptible) . However, Siegfried can delay SCH K and then it will track both sides(Try 3(B)~66~K - basically quckly tap dash twice and then K, the knee will track any side step attempt, stupid). He can also 3(B)~2_8B+K which will beat most of Ivy's linear TC moves.

When you block his 3(B) at close range, Ivy's 3B will CH his SCH K and SCH A attempts, but I think he can avoid it with SCH 2_8B+K.. so yeah, it's all a guessing game.
