I think about two or three Greek players will go to this year's SVB for SCIV, Grannis included (the one playing NM). As far as I know there will be other players from Greece also but for other games (BBCS, SSFIV).
Unfortunately, even though I really wanted to, I won't be able to go to this year's SVB for personal reasons, however, I'm really interested in seeing what will the rules be for SCIV this year.
What about you guys? Are there going to be any French team for SCIV at SVB 2K10?

I'm just happy to have played offline. At least when I fucked up I knew it was my fault. All those 214s and missed punishes. I haven't been able to do online since this. Literally I don't think I'll even play Ivy online again unless I have too to win. There's nothing I can learn from online to better that character. Think I'm just gonna work on my alts with online.

These videos help me look at holes in my strategy and where I got lucky. I was able to reference my punish list and see all the stuff I was missing out on. I also need to rethink some moves. SW 22_88A was not a bad idea on you. If you're slightly at an angle it gets me a nice pushback while BTing and that would be a nice strategy to throw people off, especially is if I keep landing them at an angle that would be hard to interpret as BT or not BT. Also I like 44K, the move just lands a lot for me, but perhaps I just wasn't seeing enough punish to fear using it. I should probably try to use 1_2_3 B+K instead.

yes but they're freaks of nature. I can iCS and SS on pad, but it's no where near is consistent for me. Takes a VERY long time to make that motion feel natural on pad analogs. Malek uses the fuckin Dpad tho! That's fuckin insane.

Just watched 5-10 online has messed wit your offline timing you were missing guaranteed combo finishers and wrong inputs. I assume it has too do wit you playing online.

350Z has excellent buffers for CS when i played him i was ducking a lot.

Everytime i play offline i have to request a few practice sessions to calibrate my combos. I am notorious for missing SW 69B and SW 214K during offline comboes. Even CL A+BA+K, WP 66A+B often becomes CL A+BA+K, WP A+B instead. It also takes me a a bit to train my self to use "lag tactics" offline and not use certain moves like 214B and SW 44K so much.

Yes, this is amazing indeed. But we have a problem... most of the videos are from 2008, and Namco banned many, many combos since then. So, if we want to follow some good combos shown in the videos, many have disappeared already.

I bet all that's still legit and cool i don't follow patches anyway i just play wit what they give me. It's a lot of things in them 2008 vids that's useful.

I just wanna say some word about these matches.
First, VERY GOOD ! You used very well Ivy's tool, and play a great game.

WP is very hard to use against Amy. SW seems more adapt.
Very good use of 3B, a+bA+B and 2A+K (!!!).
But one thing, if a move work then don't be afraid to use it more and more. It's not you who need to adapt but your opponent.
In the end Thuggish blocked 2A+K, but it was not on reaction cause he also duck your throw. So this moves worked so well you should have used it more. + It's difficult for Amy to punish it (6:6B is her only option). Same with a+bA+B. Half life in one move is something you should not be afraid to use (unblockable, no need to mind game before opponent react). And same with SW 3B who seems to works very well for you against thuggish. Throw didn't work very well on Thuggish. Ok it works on DK but the 2 guy didn't play the same way. So, take care.
I just wanna say, do not be afraid to use what's working again and again until your opponent find the answer.

One more thing, 9gB is not very unsefull aganst Amy cause their is a high probability for the move to whiff agaisnt her due to her small hit box. I prefer to use 8/9K against her as TechJump move.

In the end I was too afraid of Thuggish, so I kept freezing up. To beat Amy, I found that you must keep active at all times, constantly moving and thinking about when to space and when to rush down. There is no room for mistakes or bad reaction. Other than that, I panic'd and got hit by some retarded ring outs. Sometimes I expected 236KA ground pickup, or 2B+K into 236KA/44B mixup, but other times I just got greedy. Also, yes, I found out that after Amy 3B you must do 8A to jump 3BA. But at least it gives you +5 for 4K/SS/CS mixup.

This tournament is not a disappointment for me, because I learned new strategies and techniques from it. I will do my best to improve each year. Thank you Malek for showing everyone how to play Ivy correctly. I really think God himself helped me to do so well, but I must also give some credit to you for really bringing out how versatile of a character she is.

No, no - it's not like that. But I admit I'm not very eager to comment on matches from known XBL players cause Spurious already let me know how I suck and he doesn't want to take criticism from someone he doesn't find good at this game. So I can only speculate what other top XBL players think of me haha.

But, since you asked, I will of course comment on your videos. First of all, good job on making that far and repping online scene which I am a big part of.

I have also been playing a very annoying Amy lately so I can feel your pain. IMO this is the second hardest matchup for Ivy (after Hilde) because of Ivy's pathetic frames and the fact that Amy can punish more Ivy's moves than any other character in the game (even the stomp!) so you must play really safe, otherwise she will always take the initiative because of her 6BB punish...

Anyway, I think you stayed at close range too much. She outplays Ivy at close range as well. There are a few things you can spam in SW to get away from her like 3B or 6A. You didn't use much CL 1B,B+K and 6B. Even if they are stepable, I think it's a mistake to abandon those moves when playing vs Amy, especially CL 6B since it's safe, has good pushback and hurts SG quite a bit, I think this is a perfect combination for Amy.

Next thing you should definitely try is just ukemi her 236KK in combos. Always try that, this is a must when fighting against a good Amy. I don't think you did that even once in those videos. I've found that the easiest way is to press moves that contain G (so G, A+G, B+G, K+G etc - whatever you have binded), I press 2X G and A+G at the same time and get JU very often. It will allow you to avoid her wakeup (though you will still be in range for 1A but it's risky for her and at big disadvantage, like everytime you JU)

Nice use of 22K (2A+K)! When you hit opponents with it it always made me smile cause immediately I thought of certain people here who said that this low absolutely doesn't work offline. Little whore is weak to lows that end in TC and combined with the fact that she can only punish it with 2A or 2K and only at close range (not with 6:6B like Malek said - unless he meant normal 22K) makes it Ivy's best weapon against Amy. Another low I find pretty good against Amy is... WP 1AA. This is another move that will destroy a lot of her options when used at certain range - it will take her out of step 33B and she won't be able to punish it at all at some range - and even if you use it up close, you can still mix 1A and 1AA. Sure, it's negative on hit but it doesn't matter here.

I have to disagree with you about 8A used after 3BA. I'd recommend never to use 7_8_9A on Amy, because it's not worth it:

- this move still has that glitch where your opponent goes through the move and doesn't get hit
- Amy can punish it with 6BB
- it doesn't cover one side at all

Like Malek said, I think 8 or 9K is a better option - this move is safe and covers the same side like 8A (tracks to Ivy's right side) and knocks down so I'd go with this. Any move that gives a KND also gives you an opportunity to space and swtich stance to more appropriate one depending of situation. Thugish seemed to know Ivy's basic frames (like attacking with 6BB after your SW BB on hit) so that's a good moment to use 4K - moves with little advantage on hit SW BB, 6K etc)

3BA is an interesting mindgame. She can do 3BA or 3B into something (like 6BB, B+K/A+B aGI or step 33B). I think you should try do something most of the time. Jumping K in between will jump over A part, and if she does 3B->6BB it will be a double hit (unlike with Ivy's 8A). If you expect step 33B or B+K aGI, go for a high move (I recommend SW 44A, free 100dmg if you guess right) , or if you expect only 3B into something, you can always punish 3B as it's -15 , throw etc... I think doing nothing/freezing is the worst thing you can do here cause that way she has advantage over you. Unfortunately Ivy doesn't have a move that punishes 3B and goes over A part at the same time (the only move in the game that does that is Kilik's 1K I think)

If you feel the range of your moves well, use CL 214B (without SE transition), she can't punish it at tip range with 33B nor 8WR A+B. Same with CL 3B and SW 22_88B, at max range you're safe.

I probably didn't say anything new to you. Like we all know, in order to win with a very good Amy we must completely outplay our opponent or be lucky. Like you said, no room for mistakes. I think you should definitely work on Just Ukemi in this matchup, it will help you a lot and it's not that hard when you press binded buttons along with G at the same time. Hope this helps!
