Maxi Match-up Discussion

I realize that "Raph is trash once you figure him out" was the last reply to a related matchup question, but I'd appreciate some help in actually figuring him out. I have a really hard time pinning him down and closing that gap drives me nuts.

Then I choose Pat and 3A pretty much breaks him?
 
vs Raph, remember he is a high heavy character. Everytime he land an attack that goes into Prep beware. He can interrupt anything with the prep high attacks but the mid he doesn't want to use cuz it's unsafe. My recommendation is to just look out for SE K (the low kick) and block the rest and attack accordingly. 6A+B works well vs prep shennigans until he starts doing Prep retreat which will GI.
It's all about picking your spots with him, step a lot, and dash into him aggressively and 6A+B.
 
Guys what do u think the matchup is with astaroth now? I think before during pre patch Saioth said he thought it was 7-3 for maxi I agree with him but now.....post patch....I dunno. Im leaning towards 5-5 for now but i would like to hear some of you guys thoughts on this.
 
I think asta is ahead now actually. Especially with his CE being hard to avoid now and when you take into consideration the sheer debuff in maxi's damage and the fact that Asta can still do half health in about 2 grabs. Don't forget about bull rush ducking most of maxi's stuff and the BE makes it a pain to stop all together. I duno number wise but I feel it's in asta's favor.
 
siggy aint so bad. 6a+b BE beats everything after 3b except SCH K, which is steppable. Or you can do !ws b+k and beat everything.
 
I dislike Asta. It's so easy to get damage with him. Both of his throws do a great deal of damage.

He can punish RO KA or 22KA with a crouch throw attempt.

I was largely kidding. There's also 66K and K, but in general, I tend to use mids more often that not. Especially against Asta.

I've started to rely heavily upon 44B and 1B PSL strings but I still have a habit of going into RO A simply for the speedy smack to the face that keeps most people frozen.

I love doing 44B in wakeup. It's the most advantageous shift to RO, and it does good guard damage

I dunno how exactly it happens but it does. Seems to do it more frequently at that start of astas 6K animation. Like its got some stupid TC in it that shouldnt be there.

If had 22_88A just plain old go right through some characters. Its for sure not a consistant basis at all and its very rare. But it seems to happen when I need it to hit most!!

This. Plus it hits grounded when they roll to one side and if they roll to the other and try to get up and retaliate your BT B+K will smack the shit out of them most of the time. Thank God 44B was untouched in the patch, still the best move IMO.
