Motohiro Okubo announces Astaroth and Seong Mi-Na at EVO 2018

Right before the Tekken finals at EVO 2018, Okubo stepped onto the stage and presented the world premiere for Astaroth and Seong Mi-Na! Sure, the appearance of Astaroth was a forgone conclusion the moment Maxi was revealed; but Mi-Na was not. In fact, I don't believe anyone thought she would actually be in the game with Kilik already being on the board.

How do you figure? Nightmare plays like in 3-5

According to the story, Tira went full on crazy after the swords clashed at the end of 3; this event changed her from being bipolar to having two entirely separate personas.
This game takes place with the first game. Granted, this game has confirmed it's working on a timeline and nothing is stopping them from having Tira from a certain point forward, but I feel like the point is to capture more of the beginning sort of story that happened with SC1. Her style is really the only one that has changed DRASTICALLY and has been tied directly to the story itself.
That being said, Tira as DLC is the best way for them to bypass the timeline since DLC characters likely won't have any influence on the storyline.

I guarantee you that gameplay things like that take priority over story. I'm sure they'll think of something for it, I'd be surprised if they got rid of her mood switches.

She had different moods in SC3 but just the one style. Putting her as DLC would be the easiest way to avoid the story clash.

 

I was recently playing soul calibur 5 and just noticed that the snake motifs on asteroth's armor are extremely similar to the snake on algol's chair. It might not mean much but I hope they will finally shed light on the cult that made him.
