Anime I wana buy before the summer ends:

The rest of the Ranma 1/2 series (I already have seasons 1-4)

When They Cry

Gurren Lagann

Thats all for now. Does anyone know if there's any word on Shakugan No Shana season 2 coming to states?

I stopped buying anime dvds, mainly because they're so expensive and I can't really tell a big difference from the stuff I see on my computer (doesn't help that I watch everything on my computer anyways because my tv has a worse screen). After snagging a Makoto figurine (best purchase ever) I decided that I need to allocate my money better when it comes to obsession based spendings (no matter if you have a job or not, the costs still add up really high).

That being said, blu-ray releases might change my current stance on that. I really want someone to license the blu-ray releases for Air and Kanon. Heck, I don't actually care if someone licenses it and puts subs or dubs on it, I just want to be able to buy the set for less than 350 dollars. Unless it looks like someone is going to license it when it comes out, I'd probably go and import the Nanoha movie when it comes out on blu-ray since it can't get THAT expensive (japan and us are same region for blu-ray).

As for shows I would consider buying if I had money, the only things I've been looking at are the two Nanoha boxes, Clannad, and True Tears (just noticed that they are releasing a box set and not the originally announced stupid scheme with 2 ep dvds going for 50 dollars). That's already like 200 dollars, and considering how my hobby spending has been well over that in the past few months...

pfft you sadden me Kotomi.

Anime DVDs aren't that expensive, especially if you shop around. I mean Rightstuf.com has most of the best deals for them, through weekly specials, company based sales, BARGAIN BIN (the holy grail), and few more. not expensive at all. And even that being said the NORMAL price of these DVDs aren't anything above average.

Yes again though, it WILL get up there on how much you spend on it, but everything does so it doesn't matter. Lol i've only had 1 job, i had it for a year and a half..... and I spent around 12,000 on anime. AWESOME.

Meh, I have spent plenty on anime and manga over the past few years, and can't really say there's 12000 dollars of stuff worth owning. If I've seen the fansub already, there's no real point in spending 50 dollars on dvds I wouldn't watch again if I could have spent it on an artbook for a show that I actually liked. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position where I can buy everything I could possibly want so I make trade-offs.

That being said, I still do buy dvds for series that I consider exceptional since they are still nice things to have. It's just a lot more waiting for box-set sales rather than buying limited releases as they come out. The fact that blu-ray exists though puts a damper on things, since I don't look forward to replacing stuff I already own with virtually the same product. Not to mention the utter disaster that happened with ADV and like 80% of the shows they were doing...

oh there is that much worth owning, believe me.

However, i fan sub shows myself, love it, so much to see. but once the show is licensed, i stop (save the long shows, OP, Bleach, Naruto ShiTpuuden, etc..) and then watch them here or get them. If one hasn't seen a show at all, and it gets licensed then you are either gonna buy it, rent it, borrow it etc... not torrent or dl it. You're too late, just get it.

I buy things i like, which is a LOT. I've bought things i've never seen or heard of before. I've made mistakes too lol. Point is, but the content to keep the content coming. I would've LOVED a CLANNAD dub.

A dub for Clannad would have been tragic, since not even the Japanese can copy Mamiko Noto's voice (Kotomi). If they tried to copy it in English (dubs have in general been doing a lot better and avoiding this), it would have failed horribly, and if they had someone actually do it well, you just lose that much. Of course, Clannad isn't just Kotomi, but nobody else could fit that role so perfectly.

Doesn't matter, if a show comes to america, than god dammit put it in english. I don't care what it is, who got it or whatever, DUB THAT SHIT.

Of course i DO care who gets what show, but once someone has it, then oh well.

What an interesting find to stumble upon. Definitely didn't expect to find another Key fan out in the wilds of this board.

Key fans are in general a ubiquitous existence, especially ever since Air TV came out and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien was completely forgotten. Ever since Kanon was first released, Key was THE representative of the genre (and virtually the only) when it comes to the American fanbase, with the help of popular sites like Megatokyo. In short, you are far from alone.

Even among non-fans, Air is in general very highly regarded as one of the best anime ever made.

Key is easily one of the pioneers of translating from one medium to the other. Very well done. There are other series that are remarkable though, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien being one of them.

Eureka 7 will msot likely get 2 Anime Legend sets when ti comes out. But it should be heading to bargain bin soon anyway, so the single DVDs all together will be cheaper

lol I DID cry on ep. 6 and of course the finale of AIR.

For Kanon, i dunno why but i teared up for like every episode 9 and up. You just KNEW something was gonna happen.

Clannad had some depressing things, but YES After Story was just wrong. Taking away everything, everyone important, slowly, in his arms........

Well right now, I'm watching......

Black blood brothers
Lucky star english
Code greass
Bleach
Naruto(when i have time)
Peach girl

middle of watching:

Well, that's all for me.
