Patroklos Q&A/Discussion Thread

Ask a question, get an answer. Welcome to the only place where you can ask a question people have heard before and get a straight answer. I only ask that you check the first post before you ask, because if a question is common enough it will be posted and answered up here. No question is too silly as long as it's about Patroklos?

sorry about the last post. The thread isn't taking my text inputs. I'm trying again. I want to know about Patroklos' Heroic Knee Strike. I can get a good 6to8 knee strikes out, but I never get the full Soul Edge attack when he charges up yellow. How do I get that to happen?

I don't... quite understand. Do you have a video of this?

The throw has a maximum of 7 hits that is increased (or decreased if you are the victim of it) by rapidly inputting directions. But, it's just a throw.

Soul Edge, yellow charge, what could you be referring to?

Are you possibly thinking of Brave Edge attacks?

Yes, I meant Brave Edge Attack.

Patroklos has three Brave Edges. They have varying degrees of usefulness. (None of them are related to the throw that you mentioned.)

Brave Edges are generally done with a slide input. For example, 66A BE- first you input 66A, and right when you press A you press A+B+K immediately.

66A BE is OK at lower levels of play. It gives a good amount of advantage on block, but advanced players will Just Guard it and punish you.

1B BE is usually for combos only (mainly for increasing damage from 1B normal hit). Shouldn't be used in the open.

236B BE is the most usable of his Brave Edges, for pushing the opponent towards walls and ring edges in combos, and increasing the damage of 236B block punishment used in the open, or making 236B interrupts a little safer.

I know how to do all Patroklos' Brave Edge attacks. That's why this is disturbing. This one is not listed in the Moves list, but when fighting the highest level CPU, it keeps grabbing me and kneeing the crap out of me in a "Brave Edge" state. Meaning, it flares up yellow the way it does any Brave Edge attack, but with the knee strikes. I know how to 66B+G swivel and mash to get the knee strike chain, but I don't know how the CPU is doing the "Brave Edge" version of the attack.

There... isn't one, to my knowledge...

Which CPU is this again? Can you tell me how to recreate this situation so that the CPU does it to me?

I'm playing SC5 on XBox360. Go into Quick Battle and pick a fight with an Advanced Patroklos, perferably Rank A1.
Don't worry. He'll hit you with it quite often ..haha

OK, I am playing HiyaD, rank A3. I have not seen 66B+G from him once, much less a Brave Edge version.

I played Laurel, she used 66B+G, but no yellow flash.

I played Partisan (olol) he uses 66B+G, no yellow flash.

Can you get some kind of proof? A picture, video?

I think most (if not all) of the Brave Edge grabs in the game are A grabs (Natsu, Cervantes, Ivy). I don't think what you're saying exists, but I have seen weirder things in this game. I just need some kind of proof.

IDK why this thing posts without my text like that. Anyway. Keep an eye out. If you see or hear something, Please post. If I figure it out, I will do the same. I think it might be something done on a counter maybe. Though the CPU hit me with it twice in a row. But like what you were saying, I've seen stranger things from the CPU

I've noticed it's not necessary to do that. 66[A]~B+K will net the same result for example. The game's not picky at all about when that first button's pressed as long as it's still down when the others follow.

can someone explain to me why this happened? i was buffering 66B+K after 66B online because it was laggy and i didnt want to drop it but for some reason it dodged mitsu's stab thing (idk what its called).

nice.

it's hitboxes, 4B has a weird hitbox for some moves (it gets dodged sometimes), in this case 66B+K completely jumped over 4B and punished.

totally gangsta

yo, ive ben maining mitsu for the first month of my SC journey, i got good with him and his mix ups and i can hold my own against vetran players now (not tourney worthy mind you, just people who still have 2k worth of games in there belt), how ever i noticed how i was missing out on some fundementals and i hated dealing with mashers with mitsu. so i picked up pat

MAIN PROBLEM is that im apperently WAY to spoiled off of mitsu's mid ranged, i cant seem to punish or attack worth a dam with pat, almost every one of the moves i throw out gets tech crouched or just simply wiffs, even his grabs i cant seem to get in the right range to get people with, also fighting with 3 bars has never ben so painful

i will admit that mitsu has pretty much ben the ONLY character ive played for more than a day other than pat which has ben like, 2 and a half.

how do you properly play pat? o_o

Get closer.

Pat is at least top 3 in "worst range in the game". Any fight you have is going to be close-quarters.

You can either rush in endlessly or play a stop-and-go game, but you have to get in there eventually.

You know the round start distance, right? When the announcer says, "Fight!"

When you are close enough to hit 66B, that is the maximum distance you should be fighting at. You really need to be closer than that.

Ideally, you should be close enough to land 1K, and then land a followup. i.e. point blank.

i gues my problem then is that im not use to combat rythem, often times i just punish or low mixup with mitsu, but other than 2k (which is godly) i cant seem to get into peoples heads just because im to impacient to get damage.

what should i generaly do wen i cant land a hit on some one whos very capable at guard teching? i just got done with a match were a 78% algol beat me by just guarding and techning/punishing grab attempts. he barely moved either, it was pretty infuriating...

work your 1K. work your 1B when they start ducking.

generally, if you are having a hard time as Pat, it is because you are not kicking people in the shins. of course, this requires that you get close, so it is dependent on if your opponent is letting you on the inside or not.
