SC:BD Create A Soul Thread news

[10] Knight
Hello everyone.
I just wanted to create a thread about C.a.s. mode changes.
Below are the changes i have noticed so far.

It seems some items are now available to both genders
I saw Raphael’s 2p pants on a female c.a.s. and the female gorgon gauntlets on a male c.a.s.
I also saw he had a new sword in this pic.

There are now body modification options

"UP DATE" A better shot of male face 13 or "monster face" in this video from gamespot.
Looks almost orc like to me.

The ability to switch an accessories placement on a c.a.s.

I also noticed that main characters 1p clothing are now available for cas to use.

"UP DATE" Looking over the pictures you will see that there are also new hairstyles available.
WARNING: The following is pure speculation.
But I thought I recognized one of the hairstyles on one of the male cas as a female hairstyle.
Could all Hairstyles be available to both genders now?

Finally some cas videos.

And a cas with voldo’s fighting style fighting dampierre

From the videos I noticed the following.
Right now it looks like we will only have 16 cas slots.
I did not see any sign of boost, gauge, power, impact or special points.
So this aspect of the game looks out this time around.
After the socks on the clothing tab there are two slots with star icons.
In the first box we see body modifications.
In the second box with a star its tough to see but it has something next to the star.
I don’t know what is in the second box yet.
Some items now have an expand icon next to the items name.
This icon looks like a blue box with the white arrows inside.
The same symbol is used as a new tab on the editing menu.

I like the new improvements to the c.a.s. mode and hope they make it to the consoles.

great thread!

given the huge amount of new customization possibilities, now i'm really hoping for this to come to the PS3...i want to place a GIANT PARROT on setsuka's shoulder ;)

I agree. This is good news.
Sounds like terrible news... STOP SPENDING TIME ON CREATE A SOUL!

Make a good game instead! Sure, people are going to say "different teams work on CAS, different teams work on character balance". I understand that, but everything costs money; for every dollar that goes into CAS, thats a dollar that doesn't go into character balancing.

Get a job.

first, im 17. how could u expect me to get one?

second, i have one. its called a learning contract, one day school in the week, 4days work.

third: money? i have a life, gaming is like 10th place in my spare time ;)

Dude, stop pouring gasoline on yourself.

Congratulations, ur nerd has evolved into a basement virgin.

do I even need to reply to this ?

I pity the poor sucker who just signed a 17 year old idiot to a "learning contract" o.o

Different teams work on... oh yeah. But really it still doesn't work like that either. They can't simply throw money at the balance problem. Sure time is money, but what they really need is quality focus groups to find and show them what is wrong. Really, Project Soul needs to learn to speak english in order to listen to the hardcore fans (As in the focus group that matters) that care about the series (and to never listen to the tards at 1up.com again!). It seems to me that the Japanese just don't give a shit about SC and therefore don't play the crap out of it and go ape about the gameplay issues like we do.

But as you said, its totally different teams. The artists don't work on balance or gameplay mechanics, they build models and crap for CaS. So naturally they will have more content for the game as a whole. Remember, graphic content is more tangible to marketing than gameplay tweaks and balances, you know that. CaS is a big feature in SC, and really a fan could argue it needs just as much work as the gameplay. Its got ridiculous clipping issues, extremely limited options in terms of faces, less adjustable zones than it should have, and parts of items that cant have custom colors. Adding item placement and size adjustment is huge, but it should have been there from the start. We already know they are tweaking the balance and movesets, so there is something on all fronts with this one.

The really big question is, why? Seriously, CaS is pretty much WORTHLESS on PSP. Without even some laggy netplay thrown in there, whats the point? I personally don't know anyone with a PSP, I don't expect to get any real Vs action out of this installment. IMO, CaS is the RPG element, its something to layer on top of your game online, it adds that personal touch. Personal touch has a lot less meaning when there are no other persons to see what you did. Also, I really hope they did this the smart way. Everything new for CaS in SCBD was originally modeled for SCIV CaS, then down-sampled. Otherwise, I can't wait for the excuse, SCBD's stuff isn't coming to SCIV because we would have to remake everything we just made.... But at the same time I see this as more hope that everything is coming as DLC to SCIV in some way. We just won't hear anything about that until after Tekken ships. Its the only way to maximize sales of the PSP port and not even touch Tekken 6's numbers. (not that Tekken has anything to fear, but I know that hardly any serious fans would still be interested in the PSP port if we knew for certain it was all coming to SCIV)

I feel that the casual audience are just as important as the competitive audience cuz the majority of ppl that buy the game are casual gamers. As small the number of competitive gamers are, they are the ones who discover the technical secrets of the game (hence Hilde's Doom Combo) thus spreading the news via Youtube affecting the casuals.

I wish Namco were to avoid making CAS cuz itz just a waste of time. I rather they focus on balancing issues. As for the casual crowd they can add another game to the genre as they did with Tekken 6, make a decent story for each character, make characters have access to CAS clothing as well as clothes from past iterations of the series.

Finally to make the casual audience happier they can later focus their efforts in making CAS into an expansion pack maybe as a DLC at a good price. As a good marketing strategy in order to play CAS you have to buy the original game first then pay for DLC.

OK.......ouch.......now I know that practically insulted the "competitive" gamers.
I mean the title did say "SC:BD Create A Soul Thread news". What was I supposed to say?

As for these nice "argument" essays lol, I pretty much understand there's a few "problems" they need to fix.
However, what if Namco actually listened? Would that make everyone happy?

Anyways, what's so imbalanced about the game that they need to fix?
I'm curious. Is it the tiers? (though I wanted Mina to be at least on Kilik's level. But I guess you can't have everything.)

:sc1yos1:Please explain.:sc1yos1:

Yay.

Hilde 1p without helmet
Zasalamel 1p with mask
Sophitia 1p with short cut
Sophitia 1p sandals

lol. I like extras like this. Im willing to bet a Console version will be a greatest hits re-release with even more options.

Now all we need is that "flame/ice" hair and monster parts that I already spoke into existence last year.

Zas 1P costume can just go right in the trash.

As for new CaS stuff....looks cool, so take or leave it. This PSP installment isn't going to make a real splash with anyone but new players anyway.

This. There are just as many casual gamers as competitive ones, and they're just as important. I say they need to work more on the offline modes, traditional survival, time attack, etc. Putting in a fair story mode might actually make fans believe in it again too. I'm looking forward to the CaS changes but more so this Gauntlet mode; apparently there's a story.

Usually when ppl buy the game the majority are casuals. I could be wrong about the number of competitive players being smaller than the casuals but what's most important I felt if NamcoBandai maintains the satisfaction of both types of audience.

I like the CAS idea but to make it really good costs time and it interferes with other aspects of the game which also satisfies both casual and competitive gamers. So that's why I rather have them focus their full efforts on an expansion pack after focusing on the original game but that's not happening.

Project Soul is a workplace. As soon as Broken Destiny gets pressed to discs, they're going to have to do something with their time when they come in to work the next day. It's either going to be some kind of Broken Destiny port to arcades and/or consoles, or it's going to be Soul Calibur 5. Namco uses every part of the buffalo. We'll get our port. I'm just worried as to how long it'll take.

Game balance isn't as simple as that. Even if the soul team decides to say "hey guys lets scrape the whole art/design team and make them work on the game balance", it still won't make the game any more balanced than it is. Game play isn't something you can just work on and improve. You need a lot of expertise, player input, and test play to figure out what needs to be fixed. It is something that needs to be done with intelligence, not man power. The question is if soul team have a dedicated group of people that actually knows how to play the game and be able to get information from other hardcore gamers. Or if not, are they willing to hire those that do. A couple of pros sitting down to figure out the game tweaks is a lot better than 50 scrubs trying to come up with a plan.

Also CaS is very important for the casual gamers (the majority of the buyers). No CaS means no money, which leads to less time to make and test the game. Also you can have a good fighting game with a good story, the two aren't exclusive (look at BB). Its just a sad excuse that people come up with to defend ultra crappy story lines that make no sense.
