SCV- New CHARACTER ideas

1. Are they on the same calibur as a sword or even the same context? no. They are tools, not weapons. Just because this is a weapons game doesn't mean anything is plausable, or do you want a nightstick too?
2. Too bad, thats the reality.
lol Are you kidding me. It's cool for Viola to have a little glove with extended nails but a studded gauntlet is out of the question. People are so nearsighted its sad.

Stryker is my main in MK so I'll take a battle rod or two also.

1. Is that her main weapon? is she a swordsman? are knuckles of the time period? No.
2. smh.

It's still part of her style and she doesn't need the orb to fight so yes it is her main weapon. lol Also you think all these warriors can't fight without their weapons. I am officially done with this conversation. You go ahead and keep thinking SC is firmly grounded in reality .

India or Thailand or Arabia fall right in the middle of the Eurasian setting, so why not include them?
I agreed with your entire post, but these three countries are the ones I constantly have asked for since SCII, yet all we've gotten is more Japanese (Setsuka), French (Amy, Dampierre), and German (Hilde, possibly Tira and ZWEI) characters. Zasalamel is the lone exception to Namco slimming down the options for countries of new characters.

Part of the problem is we have what has made some countries' fighting styles or cultures unique has been taken by other characters:
Voldo -> should be an Indian character
Raphael -> should be an Italian character
ZWEI -> easily could be an Arabian character

"Metal ring and knuckle style weapons date back to ancient times and have been used all over the world for many hundreds of years."

Not to mention how stupid this argument is as a whole: Raphael is a Savate fighter. in case you didn't know, Savate is from the early 19th century.

Your argument is thus doubly inane, as:
1. Knuckles are of the time period.
2. SC's creators doesn't care about when things where invented anyway.

They are weapons.

"Brass knuckles, also sometimes called Cocks, Knuckles, knucks, brass knucks, or knuckledusters, are weapons used in hand-to-hand combat."

Ezio's profile says he was born 200 years too early so shh with historical accuracy. =)

@RWB I'm glad someone else is logical and knowledgeable on the situation.

@ Synraii he will be able to doom combo by flexing he muscles repeatedly and his CE will be putting on commando paint and taking his shirt off.

That's because Namco wasn't focusing on the culture of the characters (they never were). Like i told OP, they can't just start throwing in characters from a bunch of other countries, because they're going to end up with a lot of characters with little to no relevency. Representing cultures isnt what series does and they wouldnt do it well if they tried. Believe it or not, no one is going to buy Soul Calibur because a character came from their country. If they did, we wouldve seen the French players main nothing but Raphael and Amy and the Japanese just maining Mitsu, Taki, and Yoshi (and maybe Sets too).

The last thing Namco want to do is stir away from SC being about weapons to become about warriors from 100s of different cultures just to appeal to a different crowd (tactics like that can kill a franchise). It wouldn't be SC anymore because the Soul Swords wouldnt be the main focus. If anyone wants all those different warriors more than anything else, then give Deadliest Warrior a try.

That's all fine and good but Namco wants unique characters and fight styles instead of variations of the same types of characters. What country a character is from has nothing to do with how relevant they are. Believe it or not, other countries have more to offer beyond skin tones and marketing ploys. If anyone wants only Japanese and vaguely Germanic warriors more than anything else, then give Samurai Shodown a try.
