SCV- New CHARACTER ideas

I'm more than a little late, but I think the reason Natsu isn't as good as Taki is because they made her an imitation of Taki. Look at her 1P, it's a poor man's version of Taki's except without the balloons that made Taki popular.
One of the first edits I made was to give Natsu's 2P her 1P colors. I think it's suits her very well and should've been her 1P:

About Riki I think he should have a 3 section staff, which will be his father's style mixed with some staff moves. As for Bangoo I think he should get a mace/tomahawk kinda weapon with Rock's unique moves and some faster ones of his own, maybe even give him Ezio's crossbow moves but with a bow.

For Riki, I envisioned a Kusarigama that functions more like a rope dart. Not only does it contain "ninja" qualities (of course I got the idea from Ninja Assassin), but Kusarigama is a weapon that isn't in the game yet, and surprisingly quite a few want it in the game.

I really don't know what could fit Bangoo. Bow and Arrow is too "projectile-friendly" and not "physical friendly". I still like the weapon idea that was drawn in a thread about him not too long ago.

The SC3 one is a different version from what is actually displayed in the game/wallpaper.
Soul Calibur 1 and 3 were close as well. Look at Xianghua's for example. The only one who looked remotely Asian in gameplay render in all games, except SCIV, was Taki.
How strange considering the creators and artists are asian yet they dont know what actual women look like. They got Xianghua's eyes right in that render but never again. They made here ees bigger and nose smaller rather then keeping the realism. Its not like her original render was ugly or deformd, her eyes were just more natural looking but looks like they didnt think it was attractive enough or appealing to some shallow side of the audience. I think asian eyes are much more attractive then psuedo-Euro eyes. and far better then fake-oversized anime eyes. They just make the characters look so artificial and doll-like now rather then ethnically represented equality. Tekken seems fine with it, Vrtual fighter seems fine with it so whats with the sudden change?

I've been thinking.... I should be in the next soul calibur game. Possibly as a guest or bonus character as heir to the throne of ninjadom. I'm not sure how i'd look in spandex.. but i\m game for anything.

Some one fat and ugly. Everyone in this game is either incredibly hot or ripped.
Edit:Maybe not fat, SF and Tekken did that already. Just someone ugly.

I doubt it's because they "don't know what actual women look like." They're just not looking for realism [and if I recall, the series always had anime influence, even at the time Soul Edge came out]. They probably leaned closer to that idea in SC3 and earlier, but then decided to lessen it up to explore creativity. That's one of the reasons why I don't like the idea of a character "representing" a country, just because their bio says they came from that region. I think people take realism far too seriously in any form of media. I don't mind some anime influence being in games as long as it's not ridiculous and stupid.

I'm just going to say I disagree and leave it at that. Personal thing.

Same. Though, to me, Soul Calibur characters almost NEVER look like their ethnic backgrounds... I mean, the Koreans could hardly have fit that and the Japanese never do. Stylizing makes it hard, I suppose... outside of the clothing, you'd never be able to discern.
I think the only time I've seen the characters look more like their ethnic backgrounds was on some special promotional art for SCIII. I mean, things like this...

600px-Portrait-Xianghua.jpg
600px-Portrait-Kilik.jpg
600px-Portrait-Rugi.jpg
600px-Portrait-Taki.jpg
600px-Portrait-Maxi.jpg
600px-Portrait-Setsuka.jpg
600px-Portrait-Raphael.jpg

And also, I did love Setsuka best in SC3. She looked stupendously beautiful in that game in my opinion. I especially loved her dark hair with green eye combination but then again, I'm a sucker for men/women with black/dark hair and green eyes. I really didn't like how they changed her up in SCIV with her whole blonde hair/blue eyes thing.

Total newcomer to this thread and I just want to say it's a fucking awesome read.
As far as weapons and styles go, I've only played 4 and 5 so pardon me if I say something that's been repeated. Personally what I'd like to see is:
-an "unarmed" style, like with greaves and cestus. I know SC3 has the greave edge but I don't actually know anything about it. I would imagine it would be fast and with lots of combo opportunities but horrible range and pretty frail
-an actual whip style, maybe also with a small knife, that can move opponents around from a distance like astaroth/zas can, like dragging opponents within range so you can use off-hand attacks. the joke weapon is a fishing pole and a herring
-a singular spear/lance style, minimal close range attacks but an emphasis on parrying and keeping the opponent at range [Kilik and variants might be close to this, I can't brain right now]
-like stated a lot in the thread, an actual sword and shield style, would probably play like Misturugi mixed with an alexandra
-Meteor hammers, possibly a more versatile Maxi
-A singular shield style, plays similar to Astaroth with charges and throws but more close ranged

-an "unarmed" style, like with greaves and cestus. I know SC3 has the greave edge but I don't actually know anything about it. I would imagine it would be fast and with lots of combo opportunities but horrible range and pretty frail
I would prefer this over Devil Jin anytime. I wouldn't want it to be too fast, but just fast enough that it doesn't make the character broken.

Well, with the exception of Bangoo, and hopefully Riki, and HOPEFULLY a geisha/oiran inspired girl, I would like to see....

1. A more husky man in the roster. Husky as in "overweight", unlike Astaroth who is all muscle.
2. A new character that is in the late 20s-30s. I guess Bangoo counts here.

Also always wanted some kind of ballerina who fights with blades on her legs or something like that.
you. take my money.

On that note I've always liked the idea of someone fighting with weights in their sleeves/around their ankles. Is that even a thing?

Here's an idea, work with me on this one guys: a replacement for the Koreans that combines Seong Mina and Yun Seong. Maybe a student of the Hwang or Mina. The fighter will use a glaive or some kind of bladed polearm with a focus on fast acrobatic kicks. I'd be down for that :D

Another idea: a chained flail user that plays like a slower but stronger Maxi.* Maybe a Templar
*Just realized I may have posted this idea earlier in the thread. Oh well.

That would be so cool to see. I kind of thought of Tria as the ballerina in SCIII with her one tip-toe spinning horizontal move lol

I worked on some sketches for this with a friend more artistically inclined than myself. We developed a few concepts for it, a sleek dancer-looking character with said leg blades as well as a single, close to ankle length braid with a spiked ball attached to the end of it. The leg blades covered horizontals and verticals and the kicks were actually her just whipping the hair-flail around. We were proud of our completely useless artistic endeavors. Too bad we ended up basically torching that shit after a while.

Also acceptable for a new character: Master Asia knock-off.

Didn't the cloth-of-death actually show up in one of Voldo's early concepts? I'm amazed they haven't recycled that yet. The fact we don't yet have a Master Asia knock-off is actually kind of surprising considering... Bandai/Namco.

I'd vote this over my dancer any day.
