SCV- New CHARACTER ideas

I agree that this isn't deadlest warrior or Street fighyer... racial diversity isnt a priority, this game was meant to tell a story about certain individuals that just want a sword or great power. It's fictional, not a docudrama. Weapon uniquness and originality is the ideal preeminence which we are lacking. I dont think you should play as a character just because you feel it represents you. That in itself is racist to me. You should play a character for their persona and prefered weapon usage.

How on earth did you manage to equate an appreciation of having a diverse selection of world cultures with racism?? Surely thats exactly the opposite of racism? At no point was it suggested by any previous poster that certain groups of people are better than others. Plus, if I want to play as Ivy because she is a from my country, among other reasons (she's a great design and has an awesome move-list) then i'll damn well do it. How the hell is that racist? Will it be racist of me to cheer for team Uk at the 2012 olympics? Of course not. Lets try to keep the hysteria levels below critical.

How about you remove yourself from the center of attention first.

"I want ______ because there are no _______ characters!"
"I like _______ because he/she's ________ like me!"
"We have to bring back _______ because, he/she is the only _______"
"The unconfirmation of _______ is upseting ________ fans."

I want diversity but it doesn't mean they have to be culturally chained. Just because a character is black doesn't mean he has to be a Zulu Warrior.

Of course not. He/she could be from Egypt, or The Kongo Kingdom, among other tribes.

Zulu Kingdom actually didn't exist until the late-18th century.

Nor does it exist in fantasy land. Everyone but lizardman is rich.

So what are you trying to say exactly on "Everyone but Lizardman is rich"? Social class isn't the issue here.

I'll repeat what I said in a former post:

Soul Calibur is supposed to be "fictional, but based on a historical setting (15-16th century)." Soul Blade/Edge even tried to tie characters with history/myths (e.g. Mitsurugi formally being a part of a historical clan, Rock migrating from Great Britain to the New World and encountering Native Americans, Sophitia and her encounters with Olympians, Korea in conflict with Japan, Mentions of the "Wokou" on Li Long's profile, etc.)

The past argumet against me saying that an Afican fighter has to be and can only be a tribal. Pretty clear. Nothing is forcing it in other then the National geographic "experts" here.
So, you are saying that they shouldn't be?

Might I add that Talim and Rock are tribal. Zasalamel was as well.

They aren't the same are they. They are in the native american type of tribes. Zas is a scribe, not a hunter.
Exactly, TRIBES. Just like Africans, Native Americans consisted of tribes. Some in Africa consisted of kingdoms, just like how China had an empire.

Zasalamel WAS from an ancient tribe. Just because he wasn't a hunter doesn't mean that he wasn't from a tribe.

And you didn't mention Talim.

THEY = Talim and Rock.

I said "Native American themed" Rock is British as well.
And YOU even said that "they" is referring to Talim as well, saying that she was "Native American themed", which is false.

Either way, a tribe is a tribe. Each one just has different beliefs, practices, and culture. Even within Native American culture, one tribe is different from another.

Whatever, you don't get it.
HAHAHA! Smells like denial to me.

But my point is, there are already tribes in this game coming from Rock (Who resides in a Native American tribe), Talim (who lives in a tribe in Southeast Asia), and Zasalamel (who was born in a tribe).

Just like tribes, there are also social groups like clans (Tira, Maxi, Lizardman/Aeon)

Adding someone from an African Tribe isn't going to hurt the roster.

How ironic. You missed my point or choose to, then claim denial on me? Thats funny.
Then what is the point exactly?

That Talim is "Native American themed", because you've stated that twice.

But whatever, YOU just can't seem to grasp things, so there's really no point in arguing.

This discussion is on New character ideas, and if someone feels that a man/woman from an African tribe should be in this game because of diversity, then so be it. Personally, I agree to it. They've already added people who reside in tribes anyways.

If they cannot provide the story new weapons then no. And since you want to be so correct and demand Africans to only be Tribal then they have no chance.

Now why would I do that? Seeing as this thread is all about us chatting over OUR opinions on new character ideas? It'd be bloody wierd if I started saying "we the community think such and such-----". What a bizarre suggestion.
The point is, there'd be nothing wrong if there WAS a Zulu warrior, provided they were a good design and were relevant to the story...
