SCV- New CHARACTER ideas

They should've kept Zas style. I hope they can do better with styles. a woman with an orb an a man with a werewolf that comes out know where was ok to me but it wasn't the best.

I think SC would be better off without guests.

The only guest i cared about was Link, and the thing i dislike about guests is that the style will only be appearing for one game. Other than that though i think they're a fun way to get people interested in the game, the kind of people who would otherwise not even play a fighting game.

We have a thread about what WEAPON we want, but not about what type of character
We are going to get a lot of new faces (12/13? 2 are yet taken by Alexandras), this is going to be a true revolution of the cast
Same type of thread, different subject... your ideas/hopes?
You can obviously add the weapon to explain better the type of character, but is not mandatory

Mine

-A scottish or Irish warrior with bastard sword. Somebody with that tough mercenary look.
Make him a brawler, powerfull but not a giant like Asta/Rock (bust still bigger than average).
Not a complete armor, maybe made of hard leather and iron.
Oh,reddish hairs is mandatory

-An arabian warrior with scimitar, no middle east is a big lack in SC history.
Give him a turban, give him that fucking evil-villain-90's-movie little beard, make him fast, elegant and deadly.

-An italian "Weapon Master",with rapier + parry dagger. All technique and full of counters.
Italy is where ancient fencing(with rapier but also combinations, like +dagger,+cape, +buckler and so on) is born, and during 1600 all best "Weapon Masters" was here. Please give to my country an alternative to Voldo XD

-A Zulu warrior! Big ass wood shield and a spear. Make him tall as Asta but slim.
Make his rythm frenetic and unpredictable. Maybe some Capoeira kicks/rythm too (Capoeira is born from slaves in Brazil, but the origin is from ancient african tribal dance)

-An Atzec with theyr typical obsidian "sword-mace".
Maybe a "Jaguar Warrior" or an "Eagle Warrior",the elite, basically was theyr version of our "knights"

-An heavy armored european kight, maybe a fat-ass (SC never got a fat-ass :D) with an huge flail, all based on follow the flow... as gameplay imagine him as a epic powerfull but slow fat ass Maxi :D

-Male ninja, with kusarigama. Because.. well because ninja are ever badass :D
Maybe like Jubei from Ninja Scroll

-Bangooo!

Last, general wishes

1- please Namco put in some "normal" (no demon/vampire/golem/lizard/zombie-ghost/wierdo) western warriors, is not like a not asian need to be a fantasy monster to stab people :D

2- please no more blond europeans... Sieg, Raph, Setsuka, Sophi, Cass, Pat, Pyrrah, Arthur, is not like you have to be blond to be european :D

3- I know you namco guys are going to introduce A LOT of young teen flashy noobs as "new generation", but please introduce a lot of grow-uptough bastard veteran too!

ps: in before the "omg iz not about teh gameplay u noobz"
hmm how about a mage.. her hands glow a certain way to tell what form shes in.. (red for fire.. blue for water etc.) it takes half a meter to switch forms.. it always starts in fire form .. she can switch between different types of magic such as fire for fast, close, but weak attacks, water for strong, long ranged, but slower attacks..

something like this?

I like the idea of having a Zulu warrior, an Arabian warrior, a Scottish or Irish warrior and/or an Aztec warrior (why weren't these characters added in the game) but I think I can add some other warriors in there also.

* A Rajput warrior from India: The Rajput uses katars like Voldo (maybe a replacement for Voldo perhaps) as well as a whip sword (not like the one Ivy has), or a straight bladed sword.

* A Mongol Warrior: Maybe this character could be a descendant of Genghis Khan but as far as weapons are concerned, I think either a Mace and Ild Sword combo would suit the character.

* Siamese or Khmer Warrior: This one is farfetched but I can imagine seeing this character use twin sickles and having a Muay Thai weapon based move set.

*Maori Warrior: This character would more than likely use a Shark Tooth Club or a spear, and one of his throws or grabs is where he or she bites you on either your arms or legs.

*Russian Noble: Okay, we have a French Noble (Raphael) but this one should have ties to Ivan The Terrible or be one of his henchmen, The Oprichniki and the weapon should be a long saber or a long cleaver.

*Tibetan Assassin: Now this character would have a lot of range to deal with: twin daggers, a Khadga (Fire Sword), and a Flying Guillotine. The character story is probably going to revolve around being in a lineage of assassins who have fought against Chinese military and eunuchs.

*Spanish Conquistador: Yes, I know we have a character from Spain but think about a young Hernan Cortes with a flexible sword and halberd (he can switch weapons after every round).

So those are my character ideas.

Someone's been watching the Deadliest Warrior lol

I like your ideas but if we go in that direction, I'm afraid they'll turn into the cast of street fighter, with an obligatory goofy stereotypical ethnic cast. I agree lets get some historical warriors in there, but I really hope "historical represntation" isn't their defining character trait.

Example: Patroklos is technically a representative of Sparta, however he didn't run around in a red cape and a big ass plume on a bronze helmet. His appearance and outfit show some inspiration from the time period but is a largely original design. I want this instead of the characters becoming derivative carbon copies of historical archetypes.

Too fantasy.
yeah we're all about gritty realism in this game. It would really suck if PS introduced a hulking knight with a giant mutated arm and walked around stealing souls with a 6 foot piece of sentient flesh. Or a levitating undead king who teleports via la-z boy and conjures magic swords from his hands while keeping you in place with his barrage of cosmic bubbles. Whew. Thank god Soul Calibur is as realistic as it gets.

Why is this so hard to understand?

This is fantasy:

Okay, some things I have taken from Deadliest Warrior but the thing I'm going for is more variety. Historical representation shouldn't be their character trait, that's where the story comes in at. I understand what you'er saying about the character design but ideas for new warriors are things that hasn't been used or probably referenced.

Actually, anything could be considered fantasy. Both of those can be considered as such (the zombie warrior is just a combination of both). Series like The Lord of the Rings, King of Thrones, World of Warcraft, anything with elves, Elders Scrolls, etc,. are very well-known and overuse repeated themes. That's why people always think anything reminiscent to those series belongs to fantasy (like the first pic).

Because they do. Soul calibur isn't supposed to be set in a magical land with glowing stones of 4 elements held together by dwarves, elves, half-elves and Orc tribes. The only powers that people have are just from the swords that either reanimate the dead, mutate the user or take their souls. There isnt and shouldn't be magical spell projectile blasts.

But it's still fantasy (if Nightterror, Abyss, and the flying dragons in Nightmare's stage were any indication), regardless if it's concentrated on SoulCalibur and Soul Edge or not. In fact, hasn't the series been referenced as a "historical fantasy?" As far as I'm concerned, everything supernatural/fantasy still relates to the swords. No one knows the extent of Viola and ZWEI's powers or were they came from. In fact, they might directly be related to Astral Chaos, which was brought by Soul Edge in story mode. Ever notice that when EIN or Viola's orb appears, they come through a bubble/portal that looks like the sphere in Astral Chaos?

As far as SoulCalibur "Not supposed to be set in a magical land" it's still not, but it's not up to you to determine which direction it goes. Besides, the changes we've seen in SCV aren't even that severe compared to the likes of DmC.
