Sophitia General Discussion / Q&A

Right, the headache thing is what i meant by whiff... By "set up A+K+G+B" i was looking for what moves put them into the stun where you actually excecute the A+K+B+G. It seems like i can hit them all day if they are flashing, and i just want to know what moves stun them for the CF. Sorry if my wording is confusing, i'm still learning.

Anyone have any good set ups with 8b+k? I want to start using it more since I like the quake stun it gives, but it's so hard to apply.

Just 8B+K without the charge? Only trick I've ever found for it was tossing it out against characters who can tech left out of 236236AA tech trap set-ups (22A, 4AB). It lands right about as they stand so they can't jump and I've never seen anyone think to block the quake down the first time there. There are a couple of wake situations where you can try to run 8[B+K](like after CH 44K) and maybe switch it with 8B+K to beat out interrupts, but if opponent knows it likely wont hit them grounded (especially if they side-roll) then convincing them to stand up can be its own chore.

Also there are a few points in LM's LC stance where you can reasonably get the tremor stun, but you usually end up behind or to the side of him and unable to take full advantage of it...

I'd be interested in hearing some set-ups too though.

8B+K can occasionally catch someone who gets up trying to interrupt 8B+K with something like 2A, but otherwise I don't really ever use it.

Today i think we were playing on the old version of SC4 during some offline casuals and all i can say it WTF! Sophies CF game is (or at least was) fkn insane! 236b and 66A+B just kill gauge I actually got more CFs than KOs :|.

I never use 8B+K. Even online I got jumped on reaction. The only time you might want to use it, is for oki.

I actually find it very effective online against an opponent tat i have conditioned to block at a certain time. Maybe were playing a different quality of opponent (or have a different quality of connection :P)

Here's a weird question, can you buffer moves while in the air after 2B8BAK? Like, while coming down can i input a 236B? Or really any attack that i think will net me some easy hits while they are getting up?

you use that move? but anyways if u want a hit after that move...236 b is alil TOO risky...y not go for my fav move on a grounded opponent...6K!!!

Hmm... is there a reason you don't like that move? I like to throw it in every once in awhile. When i do i have already been playing mind games with the G+236, step, repeat. Then when they use something unsafe i just throw out 2B8BAK, it looks really nice and doesnt seem like im just spamming 236B_236236B_236236AA etc.

I guess i just don't really get punished on that move alot, maybe i'm just playing a bunch of scrubs but it seems like no one catches it or expects me to throw it out there? Who knows... I'm also still pretty noob, i've only logged like 100 hours and this is my first SC game. Plus i love the animation, so i try to pepper it in here and there.

hmh..no one will gonna tell you thata anyone who you are playing is scrub(or the teller is a scrub XD) but anyway,i know what you mean that ya like the animation but (i like her 236 K"i know its unsafe -.-" ) but why are the most of people talking about safe/unsafe moves...some example:ill play agains a "pro -gamer" and use often the safe moves(hell yeah he is a pro-gamer)because of that he knows that i will use the safe moves(and i loose...and im askin myself why?)so..next match i change my pattern and start usin some unsafe moves..and sometimes he guard freeze and dont know what im doin...maybe im talkin weird things here...the point is...it is sometimes ok to throw out an shitty move where anyone/everyone laugh at you...go on and make your style,so that the people remember you ^^

Little update:

Thanks to Suriad, Ramon and others that gave me some decent pointers. Last night had a bunch of GGs with Sophie,
4B+K is my new go-to move for ducking highs and breaking gauge and B+K is just a really nice move. I had 4 CFs last night, thank you for explaining the soul gauge system to me better. Also, it's helpful that my GIs have been off the chart lately... i fought a guy last night that i would GI hit him with AA, he'd attack and i would GI again, AA... the whole match. Hilarious!

good to hear improvement Psylocide! remember that when you see the red flashing of your opponents SG that one 4B+K and 1 44B+K is usually gonna destroy it! also just in case you didnt know already, GI hurts soul gauge but when its flashing, one JI will break the SG! also mess around with TAS B (236236B) ever since i've been spacing it right and throwing it out its been allowing me to win tourneys! where are you from BTW? keep us posted!

AMANDA - just because a move is unsafe does not mean its shitty :) but 2B8BAK is like - 1343810514501 on block!

Thanks Ramon, actually 4B+K took about 3 hits to break once their SG was flashing. But thats with a few blows landed on my guard. (couldn't get GI off, i was too giddy to CF lol) TAS B is one of my bread and butter moves, i mean, who doesn't make that one of their go-to moves? I did take into account last night how unsafe 2B8BAK is, and started using the FC 1B8BAK and that seems to be working a little better. I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota btw. You can see it in the Regional matchmaking, United States:Central, with absolutely no replies lol!

Anyone got a slick way to buffer a relevant response to all the A+B aGI counters? For the life of my I cant do it reactively. So far I got 44MASHA MASHK (TAS B) to take care of the A and B counters and 66B (TAS B) or 236B4 to do A and K, but nothing that does them all.
