Honestly, it doesn't matter to me either way. Only reason I pointed it out was because of the cross promotional thing because Cyberconnect2 is working on both games. It seems like the most likely move to me.

But, I know that FF fanboys have had a hard on for someone to make it into SC for years, even though FF in no way shape or form needs to cross promote into SC to sell copies of their games, which is why the two companies make these guest characters.

Corporate/business/makeMOARmoney logic FTW.

oh yeah that's right. FF did a cross thing with Kingdom hearts but they were both made from the same company and team so it seemed like it was more fun than anything else. I'm kind of hoping we don't get a FF character. It would be as bad as the Star wars fiasco that went on just worse.
 
Guests will probably be outside of Japan. Even Lollypop Chainsaw is Japanese. I don't wanna see a fake god like Kratos kicking our SC characters asses. SW charaters were nice but not fitting the atmosphere. I wish guests would be Japanese but if I have to be realistic, it's very low posibility to get a totally new game charater or japanese charater.

Wait wait wait...lol So you're telling me it would be insulting to SC to have Asura in the game, but it WOULDN'T be insulting to the series to have HER in it?

Problem is, there is no need for Square-Enix to decide to let another company use one of its precious FF characters because the FF games are big enough that they don't need to cross promote in order for people to buy them. Which is the reason that they do this.

It's the commercial ones I'm worried about :'( Oh and the fanboys/fangirls/weeaboos that they will bring to the game and probably this site as well. Okay it's not the end of the world, they will bring lots of attention ($$$) to SC but still...

Yeah I thought the same thing but at least she can fight so that's what made me do a double check.

Well the star wars guests were beneficial for both companies, The Force Unleashed came out like a month and a half after SC4 did, so it served well to sell both games to customers who may not have thought to buy the other, but it DEFINITELY brought in people that had never played SoulCalibur because they wanted to keep playing with the Apprentice and Darth Vader and shit. Yoda...bleh.

I didn't like playing as any of the Star Wars characters, they were no fun to me. I loved Link in GC SC2 and I actually did enjoy playing as Spawn for the XBOX version. The thing that matters is that they make the characters actually fun to play instead of having to adhere to certain pre-conceived style guidelines of existing characters. (Except Link, 'cause that actually worked really well.)
 
I guess its true that Ryu Hayabusa has his own fighter. There are many good options from Capcom though. I wonder what ever happened to Strider Hiryu? Im probably his only fan. More likely we'll get Dante from DMC as they are said to be churning out another of those. I'd rather it was Vega or Ibuki from SF4 or maybe someone from Dark Stalkers, seems like the theme is kind of going that direction. Im thinking Felicia might boost sales.

I would say that there is between 0% and -1,000% likelihood of any characters from Capcom (or any other company's) fighting games appearing as guest characters. I'm pretty sure Strider Hiryu is a new addition to the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 roster. Dante and Felicia are also in MvC3. And any character from SF4 has no chance of guesting in SC...it would make no sense at all. Competing franchises of the same genre aren't going to have "guest" characters in another company's game. Crossovers (MvC3, SFxTekken, etc.) are a different story.

The announcement is coming within the next month. I guess we'll have to be patient.

I meant more along the lines of Darth Vader having to be slower and more of a "beat yo' ass DOWN" kind of fighting style.

Yoda being small and slow walking but jumping around like a spider monkey when he swings his light saber

The Apprentice...I dunno, being apprentice-y.

Because the characters existed in another "universe" Project Soul had to design their fighting styles to accommodate the limitation placed on them by how they are portrayed in the canon of their origin franchise.
 
I was thinking Namco is likely to promote one of their other games...maybe Tales of Xillia or something? Sure Daishi wanted an FF guest character but considering Exix has their own fighting game I doubt this will happen. Either way I just want the characters to fit the series...star wars did not. magic does not. guns do not.

I would like to see at least one female guest character this time around...they never have female guests.
