Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Tira is my favourite character in the soul series so it isn’t ideal for me to have her behind a DLC wall.
But I’ll pay for it because I love Soul Calibur just as much as a Star Wars or Star Trek fan loves their franchise.

We shouldn’t lie to ourselves and say Soul Calibur is massively popular, it’s been out of the circuit for 5 years now.
If the game is going to see more content, world tours and support.
It needs to be seen as a good investment.

If that mean my fave is now a ploy to test the waters so be it.

This is the time to not only support the projects business strategy, but to put the salt down and start adding some pepper to what is about to be a kick ass meal of a game.

SOME OF YOU PLEASE... put the salt down.

I wanna see more of that new Illumanti guy, he really seem to be a new character with his own and new moveset.

Also btw i'm surprise they still didn't reveal Groh's dad, either they want to save the surprise and won't reveal him at all and we all get to discover him in the game (which i wouldn't mind), either he got ditched and replaced by that new Illuminati dude?

I noticed that some equipment for CaS such as belts are still floating ... That kinda sucks but considering all the amazing shit this game has I am sure I can live with it. I am already planning my custom characters lol

Tira as preorder DLC doesn’t even bother me anymore. Mortal Kombat X = Goro, Injustice 2 = Darkseid, Marvel vs Capcom 3 = Jill and Shula Gorath, Tekken 7 = Eliza, Soul Calibur V = Dampierre. It happens so often that I’ve been desensitized through the years with all these fighting games locking a character or two as preorder DLC.

On CaS, SCV was as good as it would get, anything more would need a lot of investment which would take away from the main game, I love CaS but I won't act as if it should be heavily invested on, when most people won't actually care, yes CaS is popular but in-depth CaS isn't, not to make at least, seeing it is another story. Understand that due to new races and body proportions making a tight line of customable parts would be harder and it should not ever be a priority, CaS in V was great, maybe some minor tweaks could have been done, but otherwise was damn near perfect for what it is.

Tira being a pre-order is not optimal for everyone, but at the same time it was a stroke of genius that will generate more pre-orders, because a lot of people will do it, not pay for the DLC and still have her. It is how fighting game guarantee per-orders. Tekken had a Arcade run and most characters were shown there first, SC didn't so it makes sense we feel like we need a full roster to see the bonuses, when we really don't.

Mind you, I'm not happy about Tira being a bonus character, but I understand it is a industry model.

Tira's voice over is closer to the one in SC3 than subsequent titles, as is her appearance. They made her look very youthful and alive, so she will probably follow a similar design progression to what has been already established in SC4 and 5, making her look and sound more crazy with each new game. Right now she looks quite childlike, I would maybe prefer her to be more covered up, but she's crazy so whatever, maybe 2p is a nice dress xD
Can't wait to try out character creation, I wonder if all of the races can use all of the fighting styles or would there be some limitations because of size differences?

Yeah you’re giving SCV CAS too much credit. It was far from perfect and some others have much better creation. I mean if you have it do it right. Also, it didn’t have to look like a blatant copy paste. They even used the same equipment and hair as in the last game.

It looks like there's 'chaos' versions of every stage. The Greek stage and the Forest I noticed for sure. Maybe it's just in that particular mode but it'd be cool if they were toggleable on stage select.

Honestly I'm blown away. This is what I've wanted since Soulcalibur III. A detailed single player mode for customs, and with the regular story mode on top of that with individual character paths, I'm overjoyed and more hype to play than ever.

I was very surprised to see the new character creation 'races'. I can't imagine me using too many different ones since I prefer sticking to regular humans for the most part, but it's a very welcome change. Some of the descriptions also make me wonder if the races will give you a kind of bonus. The Lost Souls for example mention flight... could this indicate that any character with that template might automatically have some kind of flight move or moves using wings that are inbuilt to their moveset regardless of weapon choice? Unlikely, but interesting to ponder.

I too noticed the weapon sillhouette that looked like possibly Hwang/Yun style and I think there's a screenshot of a CAS using something similar although it could just be a Xianghua alt weapon.

Tira looks amazing. I was one of the rare few who loved her old colour scheme and outfit so it's awesome to see them merge that with her darker look and it turned out so well. Makes me wish I could actually play her, lol.

I dare you to name one fighting game with a character creation mode as extensive and deep as Soul Calibur V.

If anything the Tira character being a pre-order character means that if you pre-order the game you're going to end up paying 30 dollars for 3 characters total; 2 characters you want, 1 guest character (you likely won't want), and 2 packs of create-a-soul stuff that may only equal to 50 pieces each pack. I'll be honest that's not worth 30 dollars unless the characters come with a story section, a new stage, some new equipment for cas, some new music, etc... It needs something besides just pieces of armor and 3 characters or the price is quite a bit higher than it should be.

But not as Siegfried which is what I wanted. His performance as Siegfried in SC3 is amazing.
That's not even him. Freeman is strictly a union actor and this is a non-union dub. It was the reason he couldn't reprise Siegfried after III.

Wow, Tira looks amazing. I could've sworn there was a four-letter name still unaccounted for in the story mode, and if it's not her (and she was the obvious choice) then I guess Rock or Aeon's chances just shot up a bit.

The CaS mode is interesting. I distinctly remember someone (possibly Verg) saying explicitly that Zas would be the guide/mentor figure in it.
