Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Okay so after half a day of playing, here’s my initial thoughts:

- RE is dope when playing Tira (RE B in both Gloomy and Jolly... heart eyes.)
- Soul Charge is useless until I get the movelists and learn what the extensions are lol
- Soph and X seem pretty standard
- Kilik and Talim are as scrubby as ever
- where are the Voldo players
- I love Tira?? bye Soph
- can’t wait for the full game sdfghjkl

Is there any significance to the rankings? Are they recorded online anywhere?

I imagine the ranking match-up system is also being tested.

Plus it's a good way to keep the game fun for the players so if you join in on Sunday you won't be going up against a bunch of top players.

well that reversal edge, yakes all the fun of the game, i just lost two matches, with a xiangua spaming that all six rounds consecutivily, that thing dont cost any meter and looks like there is not way to punished it, if that keep that way it will take all the fun for me and i guess eventually i will drop the game.

i hope that thing got revisited

RE spam is annoying on-line. I ran into a Nightmare who spammed it even off the ground.

I started the test at about 8pm UK time, no problems getting matches in 30-40 seconds, although I did get disconnected from the search several times. I imagine this was just other people cancelling their search for a new one.
Besides that, I had some very laggy matches even with 4 bars prioritised, but some decent ones too.
The 3D character models on the loading screen have very pixelated outlines, but I expect that will be polished by the time of full release.
I enjoyed all the games (except against one tryhard Xianghua), and love Geralts' moves and lines.

Having now tried a few matches as every character, I'm definitely in love with the game and gonna have to struggle to restrain from playing too much pre-launch. There are some characters I've learned I just can't use until I get my hands on movelists. Tira's also definitely my sub-main with how fun she is, and good at that. Launch is gonna be a great day, without a doubt. Looking forward to some great matches once it's out.

Edit: Re-learning everyone from the start after not having played in a little over 3 years also feels weird, but welcome.

Learn to sidestep, RE is extremely easy to punish if they keep spamming

I just did a match where i get stuck to connexion, so had to quite and reboot and was considered as a ragequit even tho i won that match, wtf lol (yeah yeah i know it's a beta still wtf tho)

Yeah, i knew there was going to be an issue with this. Everyone just quickly writes it off like

"oh its just a new mechanic"
"Its steppable"

The problem is it takes far less skill on their part than it does for you to anticipate/react and punish it. I forsee it being quite annoying for a player trying to learn how to play the game. Going through the trouble of investing time and effort of learning setups, combos, when to and not to do something, you know.... all the mechanics of the game only to have all that work shit on just because a complete new player can stroll up and shut all of that down at any time with a single button press.

Yeah you can step it, but learning how to bait and punish something is a different level of skill and i can see a lot of people saying "fuck it" and just drop the game before that occurs.

Really good, tourney level players wont have a problem with it. The super casual, beginner players will love. Everyone else that resides somewhere in the middle will at some point run into a player who beats you in a match solely because of spamming RE when they otherwise would have been destroyed. Then it will fully sink in exactly how bad this mechanic is.

What do you mean about Sunday/top players? Am I missing something?
