Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

115 Days = 3.7779 Months = 3 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days, 16 Hours, 19 Minutes and 59 Seconds

I'm betting we get something this week and every month after at least 2 reveals. I'm thinking there is 9 characters and that last slot is for CaS or Bonus.

But who knows. Until then here is Tira.

Haha lol. Well, I think we have to wait Thursday. We were lucky for Taki, but for the others, we had their reveal a Thursday.
Yoshi was kinda weird, he was shown on a Thursday, but videos of his reveal trailer were taken down left and right. They waited until Friday and all the uploads went back up. So I assume he wasn't intended to be reveal that early.

Given that T7 stages keep animating if the entire game otherwise freezes makes me think they'll likely prebake those kind of effects if/when they opt to add them in. Reactive grass must be too costly or something.
What exactly did you want to see from Maxi? Nothing but break attacks?
Maybe a new sub-system like the other characters or some crazy stuff in Soul Charge. I think a lot of the stance moves are too slow - needs something more quicker and less predictable.

from BandaiNamcoBR:

finally I had the opportunity to play SC VI in Brazil, but the event will happen in another state (São Paulo)... so I can't go.

So this continued DLC support... does indicate continued patches? I remember SCV ended their patches after 1.03 I believe, and all they did in their final patch was make Leixia unable to double CE.

Probably, even without DLC, if they didn't do that nowadays, they would be actively trying to make the game fail.

I believe Maxi has an added subsystem you haven't really seen in the gameplay vids. The way it is descibed in a twitter post, if he doesn't enter an input during a stance he will loop to 'pure soul loop' that has added benefits/damage. It's his way to put off GI / RE timing of his opponents and punish accordingly.

I'm curious about how much the characters and dlc packs will cost individually. The UK deluxe edition with just the game and the season pass is £30 more than the standard game and I imagine that'll be a little cheaper than buying the game and season pass separately.

So if the season pass ends up being ~£40 I imagine the DLC will go for ~£7-8 each on their own unless the CAS packs and characters go for different prices (assuming they will actually sell them all outside of the season pass).

I don't know how it works for the UK, but for the US it will almost assuredly be cheaper to buy the regular version and the season pass separately than buying our deluxe edition. I can't imagine the season pass on its own would be $40 with the characters separately $13+. The special versions come with the soundtrack and those weird sound cases. Anyway, I figure it would be the same elsewhere to buy separately.

from what I see the one place listing a UK deluxe edition (Namco's own online store) only has it listed with the season pass and doesn't mention an OST or metal case like the US version has. Could just be an oversight though, they haven't exactly been the most clear about what exactly all these different versions are.

The Arthurian references seem intentional, but they must hold some sort of merit in canon if the theme naming not only spans a character in and of itself (Grøh), but also an entire group of people connected to the Soul Swords (Aval Organization). Combined with the theory that Grøh's father is inheriting Vader's playstyle and will be using a longsword, then maybe he (as Lancelot) has the "true Aerondight", in all its misspelled glory.

Ironically, there's more details pointing Groh to Galahad.

In the tales, Galahad would carry two swords (not both at the same time, mind), one was known as the Sword of the Red Hilt or the Adventrous Sword, once wielded by Sir Balin. Supposedly, the sword was forged by the Lady of Avalon. The other sword was known as the Sword of Strange Hangings or Strange Girdles. Due to Angelicization of the later Arthurian tales, this specific sword gets tied to King David of Israel who passed the sword to his son King Solomon who put it on a boat, which Galahad recovers during the Grail quest with Percival.

And obviously, Groh wields the double-bladed sword that splits into two smaller swords. Though, how much of this was an inspiration based on the Arthurian character isn't clear. Of course, there's still the issue with the eye-patch and why he wears it. What are Groh's mysterious powers, is he partially Malfested or not? My only guess is that, like Zasalamel, his eye has some sort of magic inscribed and its key to a lot of his abilities (obviously, given all the footage we've seen, this bit is pretty clear.) We'll just have to see where this goes.

It's time for the first tier lists. Let them be very preliminary, I'm curious.
On the first video of the battles the strongest hero seems to me to be a Sopthitia.
Also very strong looks like a Nightmare
The weakest for now looks is the Taki

I want to say the Grøh actually is malfested since he seems designed to be a foil to Kilik, considering they're rivals in SCVI. He exhibits many similar traits as Kilik when entering Soul Charge (magic hair, glowing body markings, exploding clothing, reddish purple aura), but in this case Kilik loses control of himself to the Evil Seed, while Grøh is showing mastery of it. Seeing as his job is to hunt malfested, I hope he's wearing the eyepatch and his arm...armor as means of hiding the fact that he is exactly what he's hunting.
