Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

A few more things:

She's wearing the Dancer's Breastplate (an undergarment) with panties instead of the short shorts!

I think there's a pattern on the skull pauldron that's originally Ivy's.

Unless that's in the pants slot, I didn't think that the Lion Belt could be worn with that skirt.

Sticker limit... Bottom right corner.

And anybody remember the CaSes in the screenshots? I think they were Quick Battle opponents.

I guess Setsuka is a likely candidate for DLC then.

Tira's top is from her SCV costume, right? I like the short skirt and torn pantyhose. The dark colors are a nice touch, especially after her "pastel" scheme from SCV.
New voice actress sounds cool, BLOODBATH. And I am certainly glad to see there's no silly hillbilly accent around.

...Don't question me in the realm of breasts. :P
With the PS4 screenshot feature, I expect a lot of breasts shots from you!

Ewwwwwww So for those who buy season pass after SC6 launch won't get Tira?

I just checked on PSN there is no pre-order for season pass, so someone is suppose to pre-order a season pass from PSN?

I think its more like if you preorder the game. If you get the pass you get her even if you dont preorder.

Ramus correct me after, is part of the season pass and will be the first to included into the game at launch, sorry for the confusion.

This also make sense because Okubo said that the season pass will have 4 dlc characters and that tweet said tira + 3.

"Just to clarify, Tira is available as a bonus character in the SCVI Season Pass."
We were told ahead of time there were "3 characters and one bonus character", they're now referring to Tira as the bonus. There are 3 more DLC characters to be revealed.

"Pre-order the season pass to get Tira on day-one"
Literally speaks for itself.

"as well three additional playable characters and two armor packs in the future."
No need to pre-order, this is how SPs work. You buy them and get all the DLC covered in that season. SPs are usually cheaper than buying all the DLC on it's own.

"She will also be available as a standalone DLC."
Tira, like all other DLC, will available as a singular separate download at a later date.

PRE-ORDERING THE SEASON PASS GIVES YOU TIRA ON DAY ONE. NOT DOING SO MEANS YOU GET HER LATER.
PRE-ORDERING THE GAME DOES NOT NET YOU TIRA EARLY.
All of this information is based on that tweet and subject to the whims and errors of those in charge of the Soulcalibur official Twitter account.

I dunno how PS users are meant to pre-order the SP but someone should tweet them about that.

Not really a Tira user, so I’m going to wait and see who my options are.

A fleeting dream would be to try out a character and get a feel before deciding to purchase them. I can’t do jack with Setsuka for example and don’t really care about Pencil-chan. CaS items better not be gimmicky either.

Where can we preorder the season pass?

Depends on which platform you're buying on, but hell if I know I'm just clearing up that tweet for people's understanding.

On Steam you can buy "Game" or "Game w/SP" so probably that's the only option to do so.

Pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition is the only way to get the season pass and to play Tira at launch as a pre-order DLC. Then after about a month Tira will be made available for everyone. That's how pre-orders works.

Correct, but people were asking about pre-ordering the SP on it's own, and not alongside the base game, which I don't believe to be possible and thus said so:

It'll be really fucking funny if people who splurged for the $150 collector's edition can't play Tira day one because the didn't pre-order the deluxe edition.

But I doubt that would be the case.

It's amazing to me how much confusion and anger Bamco managed to create out of what SHOULD have been a positive, exciting announcement.

Man, it's not every day that you wake up to 25 new pages of discussion. I guess CaS and DLC are the easiest ways to fire this board up.

Let's address the elephant in the room: Tira's status as DLC. I'm honestly surprised by the number of people freaking out about this. Did you really not see this coming? Of course they were going to save some of the popular characters for DLC, and of course it was going to be characters from the later games. Hell, Hayate predicted this exact development. Do you really think people would buy Rock or Hwang DLC? It's been clear from day one based on historical precedent and from the reuse of assets that SC6 has been under a very tight budget, and compromises had to be made somewhere to deliver a game that addressed the criticisms people had of SCV.

Yes, it sucks that a popular veteran character is being withheld behind a paywall, but that's par for the course at this point. DLC content is obviously in development well in advance of a game's release, that's always been how these things work. The time to fight these practices was 2010, when they were not the industry standard upheld by years of proven success. What exactly would sabotaging the game at this point accomplish? You can pretend to fight these practices all you want, but the only message the Namco execs would get is that no one cares about Calibur. If you're really that upset just don't buy the DLC.

Having said all that, I do agree that revealing a DLC character before finalizing the base roster announcements was an atrocious PR move. They should be aware by now of the backlash against these sorts of things, and even if I personally don't care I can see why people would be upset by what looks like a complete character being sold for extra money. We obviously don't know how far along development Tira is, but experiences like SFxT have left a very sour taste in people's mouths that persists to this day. I've already seen normies saying stupid shit like "I'll just wait for the complete edition," despite the fact that Tekken and SC have never done such a thing. Namco should know better.

It doesn't help that the trailer is so unclear about how to obtain her. Does she come with all preorders? Do I have to buy the season pass to play as her? Can she be bought separately? The fact that there's confusion at all about what should be a very clear "you can buy her X and Y way" speaks for itself.
It doesn't feel right that Tira is paid DLC.
She's been in every game since 3, she's a staple now. They can't just suddenly make a returning vet a paid dlc when the game's still not even out yet. I could understand if they announced brand new faces like gr0w as paid dlc, but Tira? come the fuck on.
The specific decision about it being Tira was likely out of their control. I wouldn't be surprised if some executive at the company ordered that a few popular characters be made DLC, in the vein of Street Fighter and DBZ.

ANYWAY...
I gotta say, I like Tira a lot more than I expected to. I've never been a huge fan of the character but she looks great in this trailer. The new attack throw at the beginning of the trailer reminds me of Bakuryu from Bloody Roar. Sweet costume too, easily her best yet. Good shit.

I'm also impressed with this early look at the Libra of Soul mode. It was obvious from the earlier interviews that we'd get a CaS-centric mode of some sort, but I expected a meme throwaway mode like the tower from SC4. This looks very well thought-out, with a dedicated storyline complete with cutscenes and unique characters. It looks like a mix of the world-exploration from SC1's mission mode and the RPG elements from SC3's CoTS.

I guess the biggest question is whether the magician dude will be a proper character or just an NPC. Is he the rumored Oswald? I was hoping the Japanese website would update the character profiles to see if he'd be with the others, but so far they've only put up the trailers. Hopefully we'll get more information about him and this mode in the coming days. Gamescom is still running for a few more days after all, we might get an interview with Okubo.

I'll write my thoughts on CaS in the appropriate thread.
I had to ask what a "Libra" is and what I realized is that it's an Zodiac sign. It's shaped like an scale, and we see an hourglass in the trailer. And speaking of stars, the title screen of SoulCalibur VI includes a starry, night sky. I'm not 100% sure what impact stars and the zodiac will have in the game, assuming it's a major theme
Libra means balance in Latin. Looking at the screenshots it looks like there's a balance at the bottom right-hand corner of the menu, balancing red and blue flames. My guess is that you can choose good or evil actions, and those will impact the story in some way. We do see the custom character wielding Soul Calibur at the end of the trailer, so maybe there's a Soul Edge and Soul Calibur scenario?

I hope that magician guy's outfit and hair is in CaS. I could make a killer Dr Strange with bits of his outfit, and his hair looks pretty decent.
