Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'm STUPID bored right now, so speculation:

If Inferno is one of the 4 empty slots (which honestly I don't think he is... I think we've seen all we're getting...) then I think the realistic options for the remaining 3 are:
- Lizardman (with original axe and shield style)
- Hwang (with the classic chinese sword style he and Yun shared)
- Edge Master (mimic)

Lizardman honestly would bother me. We can create him in CAS now and give him Sophie's moveset. If they gave him his SCV moveset then maybe it'd be ok but if he's gonna be going back to his roots then I'm not sure he's worth a slot as long as the Lizardman Race exists. I think it's be nice to see him have the axe and shield but with an entirely different moveset to Sophitia, but I don't see them doing that. So I hope he's not in.

Hwang would be great, honestly. He'd feel like a new character since he has been absent for so long and with the way the games are nowadays he could have his entire personality and story reworked to be more engaging and interesting, plus he would have a totally unique style (unless they were lazy and made him a Xiang clone...)

I honestly wouldn't have a problem with Edgy (though with roster as small as it is, he'd be a slightly bitter pill all the same). I don't like him as a character (too generic) but in terms of filling the role of the game's mimic (since Inferno clearly isn't), it's fine. I understand why mimics aren't popular and to a degree I feel the same but I think one is fine. I personally did choose Kilik and Elysium in SCV just for fun and I kind of enjoy that each round is different.

Any of those characters (preferably Lizardman) could be replaced with Rock. Not because I like him, but because it would make sense to complete the original SCI roster.

Now admittedly all 3-4 of these 'realistic' options for characters are... not great... but on the bright side, it means we'd be guaranteed some gems for DLC rather than sweating about the odds of Lizzy or Rock being DLC lol.

Assuming one of the DLC is the rumored second guest, that leaves 2 options. Assuming they have only been developing DLC characters recently (since there's no real rush 'cause they won't be released for many months probably) I would guess they'll choose characters that are most in demand right now, which from my personal observation appears to be: Cassandra, Setsuka, and Hilde, in that order. I weep for Amy *cough* but anyway, I imagine they'll choose two of those to make the remaining DLC, which would also fill in the need for more female characters since all the DLC (except maybe this mystery Guest) would be female (which they know is more likely to sell).

I bet 99% I'm wrong about every bit of this but hey-ho, it was fun to speculate.

I really do believe the 4 slots on the select screen are just DLC and Inferno's going in the middle, but I hope SO MUCH that the center slot will be the 'DLC category' slot and the other 4 are free for yet-to-be-revealed characters that are maybe unlocked through Soul Chronicle and/or Libra of Souls. I miss the old days where like half the roster was a total mystery until you unlocked them.

Im starting to hope those 4 slots are base unlocks and that they include hwang, liz, and cass/rock, so that we can get more unique dlc. That would be amazeballs.

Would be even better if one of the slots was for a new female character, but that has like a less than 5% chance of happening.

Two weeks, motherfuckers!

It doesn’t seem that long.

I hope I don’t have to read posts displaying impatience when there is so little time left.

You read me clear?

All you have to wait is...

TWO
MOTHERFUCKING
WEEKS!!!

There is plenty to play within that timeframe, including previous Soulcalibur entries.

You still going on about that

"This is the mighty enemy to beat down at the end of this work ... ... That is the incarnation of Soul Edge "Inferno".
In addition to the technique resembling the host Nightmare, we have all the exclusive skills of bad performance including guard impossible skills.
Inferno is released when the conditions are satisfied during the game, but it can not be used in online or official competitions.
Because it is strength of different dimension which is not comparable with other characters, it is recommended for those who want to enjoy a fantastic battle to CPU opponent."

I don't want to read too much into this, but it seems that Inferno is indeed the last reveal. And not only that, he will be only playable against the CPU.

Hi there folks, sort of newcomer here, been into the series for a long time( Greek fan) but i discovered 8WR recently. Thought i should join in at the discussion and also share my thoughts azwel. (Yup, completely pun intended!)
I've also been watching the thread here for quite a while and...i admit i was kind of shocked at the amount of negativity and toxicity generally but, i've grown used to it all.
A quick question and sorry if i'm trouble but, will we have a CaS creation thread dedicated to the game?
Thanks in advance and hope you all have a nice day! 😁

I'm bored, you're bored, let's see if this is any good:

I didn't really learn anything at all from this video. Some of the things are kinda wrong, though, or just in general, it feels like he should have done a lot more research:

Number 20 is just straight-up incorrect. I know that "reboot" was used early on, but Okubo later recounted that this wasn't the right word to use, and there haven't been any significant deviations nor does there appear to be that there will be. We're seeing things we only could read about before, and getting an earlier insight into a few characters, but nothing is actually changing, so it's not accurate to say what he said during this part.

Number 23 is also wrong, now that SoulCalibur VI is happening and we're going back and revisiting prior events. Han-myeong is mentioned in Mi-na's bio, so he's being acknowledged and it's possible we may even see him again in Mi-na's story mode.

Number 31 is pretty speculative, and is also failing to note that Nightmare in SoulCalibur V was Inferno using Raphael's body, so when defeated, and Pyrrha Omega inherited Soul Edge, Raphael would have regained consciousness, and then Z.W.E.I. would have had to have killed Raphael, and he could have, over Viola/Amy, but we never got that story, so this is impossible to know.

Number 37, Dampierre is also capable of hurting himself with some of his moves, and now Kilik's Soul Charge transformation in SoulCalibur VI does too.

Number 41 could have mentioned Cloud being in Ehrgeiz, but I can forgive him for not bringing that up.

Number 42 implies that Dante was trying to be the guest for SoulCalibur II, when he was really trying to be the guest for SoulCalibur III, which was also part of why SoulCalibur III was PS2-exclusive, because Devil May Cry was also PS2-exclusive. You know I had to point this out, given my username.

Number 47 neglects to mention that Lizardman was also a bonus moveset in SoulCalibur II, being the one appearance of Lizardman on the main cast that was not Aeon Calcos. Number 49 compounds on this by neglecting to mention the generic Lizardmen in general despite showing several Lizardmen on screen at once. I don't understand.

Number 53 leaves out Valkyrie from Valkyrie no Densetsu and Gilgamesh from The Tower of Druaga, very well could have included those too, since their parts were also available and could be considered pseudo-guests. Also a bonus in Neneko's hat from the Namco anime Yumeria, probably the most subtle inclusion out of all of the things involved.

Number 64, I'm quite sure that Tira's hair is green.

Number 67 neglects to mention that Hwang also appears in Quick Battle, and both of them also appeared in Broken Destiny's Quick Match along with Arthur and some other minor characters.

Number 68 could be avoided if you just put SoulCalibur III on your memory card first, might have been a handy tip to dole out to those who aren't aware of it. It requires two memory cards, sure, since you have to move all your stuff off your memory card, have it be totally blank, make your SoulCalibur III data, then move everything back, but the corruption occured when any data before SoulCalibur III was deleted or changed size, pretty sure it broke the header of the save file and it lost some data, because it was supposed to be 300 KB, but it would become 297 KB when it was going to be or was corrupted.

Number 84, that's Soul Calibur (Evil), not Soul Embrace. Soul Embrace was the two zweihänder variants of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur fused together by Siegfried. Soul Calibur (Evil) never really got any story relevance in SoulCalibur II, so maybe it's an honest mistake, but still.

Number 92, fine, he got back to Number 67 and brought up Hwang in SoulCalibur V, though I don't know why this wasn't combined back with that one. But again, neglects to mention that he was in Broken Destiny as well.

This went on for a pretty long while, more than I expected, but I guess I'm just too obsessive when it comes to this series.

Now, as for my thoughts about the game.
Taking into account the whole ordeal with SCV and how the series would have never showed up at the forefront again if not for Okubo-san, VI (personal opinion) is great at what it offers, especially on the single player department and despite its budget problems. Knowing that the series i've loved since i was a kid is back makes me so darn happy. I just wish that we all could rejoice like that instead of being negative and yelling at each other. But, people have their own opinions and for my part, i'll respect each and every one of them. As long as we can have a nice and mature conversation/debate, i will.

I just saw the KBash video of Fall of SoulCalibur and i find it really good.
It explains the problems of the recent games without bashing too hard on them, talking about some good elements that i did enjoy.
He shared his love for the titles in a dissapointed point of view while keeping his posture of a fan in the series.

I hope he makes a supportive video about VI when it reaches his hands.

Damn, i don't want this franchise to die or keep as low budget niche in niche fighting comunity );
