Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

TBH I think if CaS is important to you in this game, you're not really competitive. The two just don't go together to my mind.
I disagree. I enjoy CaS AND online! I play the normal cast online and the CaS characters offline.

I like to be the best I can be. I'm competent, but I'm not great. I also use CaS so that I can play characters I don't like the personality of. Cervantes for example.

I spend about 5/13ths of my time improving my game and the other two with CaS. I have 1750 hours (give or take) on scv between my two accounts, so a good portion of my time is spent on the game itself. I mostly talk about CaS because I feel as if CaS is more interesting than saying "I hate playing as or against astaroth"

Just my two cents I guess.

I would agree with you if this game had at least one alt costume or more then two colors. I get tired of the same look all the time and I didn't even want CaS so it must be bad if I'm defending it now lol
I agree with that, no 2P is a bit of a let down.
@Ukkesh, we were discussing CaS in ranked, I just don't think having that is a good idea, it puts me and (I guess) other competitive players off.

I don’t feel a player has to choose between the two, their experiences is subjective to how they enjoy it.

I’m quite competent with the series but I’m not competitive, I’m also creative so I enjoy the CAS content as well (backstories and all)

One thing is for certain though making it linear for the sake of competitive play is what I felt they tried to do with 5. :/

Your experience is what you make of it.
For the sake of balance though
CAS shouldn’t be playable in ranked but free to use in casual online play.
But the styles rank regardless of which mode should be the same. (Which of course then pairing in casuals should be given the option to be based on skill level as well)

Good point. Guess I was a bit out of context lol, I read really quickly, so I sometimes miss important details. I'd say that with ranked, CaS for the original character, rather than actual CaS. I guess you could make it so that extra parts make an costume illegal. That's a decent compromise imo. I'm more than happy to battle as Mitsu dressed as Cervantes.
CaS as their own thing should only be available if there is a CaS only style, at height three, using a set costume or something. Secondly CaS of other styles should be banned especially at high level. I feel as if that's probably the best way to settle it.
I guess Its fine if hit idea are the same but costumes are different.
@Haruchai do you think that's a good idea? I'd like to see that I guess.

I don't know if it was posted here already but, in relation to the topic of Arcade not having a proper select screen and possibly not being able to use CaS because of it, a reviewer who has access to the PC version confirmed you CAN use CaS on Arcade.
Link? Not because i don't believe you, i just want to see any other details he's shared.

I couldn't resist:

Considering CaS and customized outfits seem to occupy one slot (why they decided to bunch customs with CaS instead of their respective characters is beyond me), I wouldn’t be too surprised if a dedicated Creation slot for Arcade showed up - assuming you have at least one of either saved.

All this talk of Amy and cassandra being possible DLC. Putting the story artwork aside, Aren't we forgetting that their fighting styles are very similar to sophitia and Raphael?

If we consider that they both wouldn't offer much more variety in terms of fighting style archetypes than other popular characters, surely others like the much demanded setsuka would make more sense? Especially given that she was absent from scv and her moveset being given to patrokolas? (a controversial move that bamco may be looking to make amends for much like many of the roster choices this time).

I know I'm biased as setsu is one of my favourites but still I feel this is a strong point to be made. And that's without the waifu aspect coming in to play as dlc bait.

Also Hilde for instance, a popular character with a more unique fighting style than what Amy or Cassandra would add to the roster.

Oh believe me, I'm well aware I still stand almost no chance of seeing Amy playable (though at least her aging at the end of Raph's story gives her a tiny chance).

I think you're exactly right that Hilde and Setsuka stand more chance given they are both more unique and seemingly more popular, though I wouldn't be surprised to see Cassandra as the final one if we don't get that second Guest in the first Season too. I feel like despite both Amy and Cass being in somewhat high demand, Cass will always win out because she's been around longer and seems to have a much, much larger fanbase, which makes me sad but *shrugs*.

One of the things that does lend to Amy and Cass though is the whole 'characters who were in Lost Swords but not SCV' comment way back at the start, plus someone recently mentioned that they were the only two characters in the top 10 or 20 or something poll that haven't made it into SCVI yet. Not that I see either of those points as relevant enough to make them a guarantee.

One can hope though... right?

:sc4amy1:"No"

Its already been discussed here before that any other characters brought back to the game who share a fighting style with an already existing member of the roster will likely be overhauled and revamped Siegfried/Nightmare and Seong Mi-na/Kilik style. Plus Cassandra is already so different from Sophitia. This argument is pretty moot, though I’ll agree that Setsuka is the only one among the remaining viable females for DLC that has had lasting competitive appeal (Hilde and Amy being broken at first iteration, Cassandra being generally inferior to Sophitia, Viola in general).
