Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

T7 still has more characters but i feel there is a bit more polish in sc6 characters, also don't forget that T7 is 3 years arcade before hitting console while sc6 is straight console.

Goddamn bastard, kicking people in their sleep and then telling them they look bad

Well, since the game comes out tomorrow, I wanted give a quick farewell to this thread. I remember looking at the countdown and seeing 100+ days, it's hard to believe the wait is over! I've checked this thread pretty much every day, multiple times, for the past hundred days... it's a bit silly, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has spent way too much time here.

I've never interacted with the SC community before, despite having played the games for a long time. Just from speculating and arguing in this thread the past hundred days, my account went from level 1 to level 7 with 350+ likes on my stupid posts. Not saying that to brag, just that it's cool and encouraging to see proof of everyone's hype and excitement for SCVI, a game I never thought I'd be able to play.

So long, and thanks for all the shitposts, vague leaks, pointless arguments, and baseless speculation. See you all on the stage of history.

Could it really even go past s2? Let's say it did the Tekken route and had 5 characters the second time (and each had 1 guest)

- Tira, Cassandra, Amy, guest
- either Hwang or Yun, Setsuka, Hilde, Viola, guest
and past that point who cares? Rock, Li-long, the other of Hwang/Yun, Dampierre, Algol, and the SCV crew who aren't Viola are going to entice many people to buy dlc.
This series has been devoid of interesting new characters since SCIII, sans Hilde, and could definitely use a bunch more. I'd love a season of only brand new characters and fighting styles.
I wish people would get over it already.
"You see this product that cost you $60 but was clearly built on a low budget and still lied to you about a character being on-disc DLC? Just get over it."

Nobody got over that in SFxT (which is good), so why should an exception be made here?

Found this on Twitter, it looks like Raphael does not have Albion.

Thank you so much ^_^

I might just be giddily speculating over nothing, but in SCV, Amy was (arguably I guess) absent and Raphael possessed her weapon, Albion, but renamed Amy. Prior to that I don't think he ever had the weapon or anything could be seen as it. The fact that he doesn't have it in SCVI could mean that Amy is more likely to be DLC since I feel like he'd probably have the weapon if she didn't.

Of course, it probably means nothing. After all, the only reason he had it in SCV was because she was missing and left her weapon behind. It could just be that Albion doesn't exist in this timeline yet so neither of them has it. Though she has learned to fight and presumably he gifted her Albion already so I dunno.

Gah, mustn't... get... hopes up... Must... use... mantra...

Hope only brings disappointment... Hope only brings disappointment... Hope only brings disappointment...

Finally someone who leaves but doesnt talk down to everyone here while doing so. I'm tired of seeing douche fucks hypocritically run their mouths about our topics while they contributed just as much shit posts as everyone else. Thank you. Enjoy the game and good luck with whatever else you'll be doing.

I don't see how staying upset about something like that is constructive, that's all. I concede, you have every right to be frustrated by what happened, but I just don't see how continuing to piss and moan about it will change anything. It already is what it is.
(Although, to play devil's advocate against my own earlier post, I gotta say now that maybe verbalizing your dissatisfaction will get Bamco's attention and they won't pull the stunt again. One would hope. It was a fuck-up, what they did.)

For a budget-y seeming game it feels like they went all out. Feels like it has more than SFV or Tekken 7. Keep in mind I haven’t actually played them but have heard about the lack of content.
I've been questioning something.
It was leaked and said that the game had a bad time in preproduction and had a couple years wasted.
Is it fair to say that the game had a limited budget instead of it being wasted during that period?
Maybe Namco didn't want to give more time or money for the game because already the developers had spent to much on it.

Libra only unlocks the items you can see in CaS anyways (with the locked icon). Meaning what you see there is all you get.
Oh that's such sad terrible news. No intro, less weapons, less parts, no 2P. ._. AAAND I gotta for all those armor pieces to come out as DLC. ;w;

Maybe i'm wrong but i prefer opencritic : http://opencritic.com/game/6694/soulcalibur-vi?tab=1

There are more reviews with previews, more complete and neat than metacritic.
It's 85 too yes.

edit : The lowest review listed on opencritic actually is a 7, and doesn't like reversal edge and visual novel yes, i was quite hesitant too because of that, visual novel aspect is a "hit or miss".

Also, first critic reviews are in...

  • Destructoid - 8.5/10

Promising. I remember that SCV was in the 6 to 7.5 range, so it's good to hear that the series is rebounding here as well. Maybe it'll also show Namco the series is worth continued investment in.
I know thats awesome very proud of them, gave them praise on twitter too they deserve it.
