SOULCALIBUR 6: News, leaks and information discussion.

Equipment destruction is back to how it was on SoulCalibur IV, where broken areas take more damage, so there is that, but there is something else that SoulCalibur IV had that SoulCalibur VI could also easily have, which would take out the need for over the top breaking, the meters on the left and right:

Is that confirmed?

They noted Sophitia's legs taking more damage after being broken, around 4m45s: Twitter link
If this is factual, then modders who set equipment to be unbreakable will have an advantage vs people who don't mod.

Idk, I am all for tiny details that contribute to realism, especially in a game with a multifaceted gameplay like Soul Calibur, but I think we could do without extra damage to exposed body parts...

If it works the same way it did in SoulCalibur V, that may not necessarily be true. Equipment technically still broke, it was just internally it was coded to still display all equipment even when the equipment was broken. You won't have a visual indicator of the break, but you should still get the damage bonus. I didn't do any modding in SoulCalibur IV, so I don't know how it worked there, if that was possible.

That would be a nice solution, yes. :)

It would be awkward if someone approached Bamco with questions about modding, but it looks to me like they are giving it some thought secretly after all.

The damage bonus was always so minuscule that it then becomes a circular argument as to how pointless the mechanic is in the first place.

They were smart enough to know Soul Calibur 2 was an EXCELLENT reference point to restart the series and yet these progressive decisions made post SC3 still linger.

Also, I hate GrOh edgelord design, and I was willing to get over that. This is like the perfect time to give feedback before its too late. Theres no way the CAS models will have more effort put into them than the base roster and they look pathetic without clothes.

Armor break needs to be scrapped.

The only character from SCVI I've seen being reduced to just underwear is Mitsurugi. Is there any other gameplay of other characters being reduced right down to underwear? Or are people just presuming?

Sophitia for example, I've seen that she loses her shoes, braid, part of her top (the strings tieing it together also come loose) and part of her arm armour but that's it. She doesn't get reduced to underwear... (From what I've seen anyway)

Also, does anyone know if Kayane has posted her interview yet? Or when she will?

Kilik is a bit tough to compare as the angle is different. But the hair mesh and texture looks extremely similar, and it looks like they might be using the same face mesh. His scar texture looks a bit different in SC6.

Xianghua is definitely redesigned in SC6. They might have based it on her SC4 face, but they did some big changes to it. That's interesting as Sophitia's face is virtually identical to her SC4 model.

Comparing Nightmare is a bit meaningless as his entire model is different, but it's a good example how SC4 and especially SC5 holds graphically extremely well.

Xianghua's equipment breaking makes what she ends up wearing look somewhat like a swimsuit. Kilik's leaves him about naked, but he wears an extra set of long underwear, just longer than his knee, under his pants. I don't think I've seen Grøh get a low break yet, but I know his mid break leaves his front upper body and delicious abs exposed, wouldn't be surprised if he at least shows off calves if not more legs when his low gets broken. Nightmare remains mostly clothed from the waist down, only really looks bad if the low break is first. Sophitia's top when broken I'm not sure how it stays on, honestly, seems like she should pop right out of it.

Kayane reposted her Xianghua footage within the last 24 hours, but I haven't seen the interview posted yet, and a search doesn't turn it up.

You may wish to pull their SoulCalibur I renditions as well. The observation has been made that the redesigns seem to be a hybrid of their looks between SoulCalibur I and SoulCalibur IV.

The more I see Grøh's design, the more I can't unsee him looking like he'd be a character from another one of Bandai Namco's new games in development, Code Vein, but in a more realistic style.
I wouldn't even be surprised if they do Code Vein crossover costumes for character creation/customization on SCVI, and vice versa with Grøh stuff (Grøh skin, maybe?) on Code Vein. That kind of similarity seems a bit too convenient.

Anyone got a clue what happened here? Xianghua block the RE from Sophitia and it made a guard break sound and entered the RE cinematic.
At first it made me think RE is now unblockable, but I've seen clips of people blocking it successfully without entering the cinematic.

Yeah that's weird, I heard somewhere that RE can be held down and charged up to make it unblockable but Sophie didn't charge it at all.

Before they think about any collaboration things i hope they would already give characters a good amount of dope AF alternate costumes. Some costumes from past SC games would be dope as well.
