Sure let them work on the game some more instead of having to focus on another new public build. I think it's fair. Think I'll preorder soon.

I know, but I don't feel that they even do much of a good job of that. They all amount to Okubo just kind of rambling about the characters while not really mentioning any interesting information. If they really want to hold the fans over until the next reveal, the smart thing to do would be to go into a little bit more detail without spoiling anything, which I'm sure is possible. Hell, maybe showing some concept art and talking about how they arrived at the final design or something. Just anything beyond "This is this character and they look like this and this game is really cool" would be nice because that's definitely not gonna help hype up the game.

This seems more like an attempt at getting people that aren't into Soulcalibur or don't really know about it a chance to spark some type of interest in the game. I really can't complain.

I don't think Zas and Ivy are up to Project Soul's QC standards. I mean just look at Ivy's sword in the trailer, it's textures look like they're from a PS2 Soul Calibur game which would mean a placeholder plus I wouldn't be surprise character's moves are not fully implemented. While it's frustrating not to see what Zas and Ivy have to offer, it's would be doing SC6 a disservice if they're released to the public in such an unfinished state. A trailer doesn't mean characters are ready to go, you would find a lot of trailers in all games end up using footage from a developing game that's barely stable to function.

I see people protesting the reduction, yet the developer's never guaranteed that all announced characters will be playable in events all the time. Could we just... Chill? The simplest explanation is that the characters are being worked on. The announcements are purely a guarantee that a character will be in the game.

Glad to see there is some common sense in this forum.

Quite sad to read this news but honestly I was really surprised to see all 8 characters available.
I think no company brings out a new demo anytime they reveal a new character, that's not how it works.

Markman confirmed it after that I acknowledge it.

Okubo also confirmed it going to be the EVO Japan build.

No, it's not the least bit unreasonable.

However, you have to keep in mind that creating a playable demo isn't something that happens automatically. It takes up dev resources.

Hypothetically, they could be making a new playable demo right now, not with 8 characters, but with 10 or 12. And they decided against making an 8 character demo, because it might delay the announcement of those other 2 or 4 characters. Hypothetically.

Or maybe they discovered a game breaking glitch with Zasalamel's time powers, and they want to make sure it's fixed before players first test drive him. Again, just hypothetically.

All we can do is hope that Namco-Bandai is spending resources wisely.
If they were to say they couldn’t put in Ivy and Zas due to whatever reason, than complaining about them not being playable is unreasonable.

However, they haven’t said anything like that and those two characters were revealed in a trailer. It’s 100% justified to be disappointed by that, and the comment of

...comes off as ‘holier than thou’ and just plain arrogant.

Now, now, let's all calm down, no need to attack each other. Just because you're building a house and you have the fundaments ready and you can show they're stable, it doesn't mean people can start moving in allready. For all we know, Zas and Ivy could be completed just enough to make a video, but they're still an unfinished glitchfest in terms of gameplay. What do we want out of the game, for it to be good, or for it to come out right now and be SC5 Story mode all over again?
