Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

Wait, wtf? Using guests to promote upcoming games is cancer.
They already did this once before, with Starkiller. SoulCalibur IV came out in July, while The Force Unleashed didn't come out until September. I'm just saying it has historical precedent, not that they would necessarily do it again, but it's not impossible an angle to consider.

Yeah, all of one time, and it was a terrible decision.

Maybe you shouldn't have started a thread about dlc if your going to cry everytime someone talks about possible dlc you don't want. Some people are actually trying to have a logical conversion about possible guests and your just saying thats stupid even if people have a logical reason for there statements. If you're going to do that at least give a good argument instead of being clearly butt hurt because every human being doesn't agree with you

Hey man I’m just saying that using a guest to promote an upcoming game is a stupid practice. It makes the game an unintentional period piece. Why is that so hard to understand?

Geralt also makes the game an unintentional period piece, as would almost any other guest. The Witcher may not be relevant anymore by the time SoulCalibur VII comes out. Ezio was still relevant when SoulCalibur V came out, not so much now. KOS-MOS was still relevant when SoulCalibur III came out, not so much now. The only one that had "timeless" guests, arguably, was SoulCalibur II.

Not quite. It's not the same comparison. Using a guest to promote a game that hasn't even come out yet marks it as a product of the era. Just look at how PlayStation All-Stars choose its roster on a "what have you done for me basis" rather than Nintendo using their entire history. That's why it aged so badly.

Okay, now you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel with that reason. Geralt wasn't made to be in a fighting game either, and they have to rebuild him to fit, but look at that, they did.

You're dodging the point. I wasnt saying it had to be a fighting game the guest must come from. I said its important they can accurately display a characters powers and abilities within reason. I'll admit i never played Witcher or seen combat in his game but i think i can still confidently say he doesnt do anything on the scale of 2B, Dante, Bayonetta or anyone else from that genre of action games i was talking about.

Upgrading a guest and giving them more abilities to fill out Soulcalibur's moveset is a good thing because fans of said character will be excited to see the newer better version of them.

Downgrading a character to fit in Soulcalibur is bad because it will dissappoint fans who expected to do everything they did in their own game. 2B will have to be downgraded. A lot.

Just the fact that it's a bad idea makes it likely that bamco will do it. Face facts the way they have been handling almost everything about SCVI has been a bad idea so why would the season pass be different? You have to think like them if you expect to figure out what they are up to

OK you’re just making stuff up now. You could say that about Kratos for crying out loud.

What's the point in even speculating on guests when it could be literally anyone from anything? We got a Negan, Geese, and Noctis in fuckin Tekken. How well they fit doesn't matter, what they're from doesn't matter, how they look doesn't matter, how they WORK doesn't even matter. They'll just do whatever. For all we know it's Gordon Freeman or some dude from Game of Thrones. Maybe it's Ky from Guilty Gear. What if it's Thanos???

You could losely compare GOW with those games but the key point about that is GOW is much slower paced. There isnt long strings of combos and he still doesnt move around very quickly. So i suppose yeah, maybe they did have to downgrade him a little bit ability-wise but it still isnt as much as 2B would be. Most of Kratos' power was strength related, not speed and movement.

OK I’m done here. It’s clear you’re just making stuff up to justify why you don’t want a particular guest character.

This is a two part question I would like to ask. Do we get the Season Pass' 100 parts right away and if not, what are the odds that there are just the parts from missing from V that should have already been in the game? Considering Tira not only being playable in the beta, that you can also fight her style in Libra and that there is a unique weapon for lizardman that only the NPCs can use, has me worried that everything in the season pass is already in the game and is just being sold back to us.

we won't know until we start getting more info about the Season Pass.

If I had to guess, the 2 armor packs will be released separately.

hopefully, the parts we do get aren't just removed parts. I want new parts, too, but I don't want it all being silly/frivolous stuff like bikinis, swimsuits, animal heads, etc.

Based off the wording of the season pass, it looks like it is 100 parts separate from the armor packs, since it says +100, not 100+

wouldn't be surprised if soul calibur and tekken go the sims route. tons o' dlc, so expect several season passes. next installment will have a small roster again but with slightly different features and a few new characters to justify making a new game.
