Yeah, I have a feeling we'll be getting a pretty big roster this time around, since they'll be competing with other popular fighting games that have some pretty sizable rosters. That and they know they're under a lot of scrutiny from fans after SCV, so I can't imagine they'd risk a smaller roster tbh.
I certainly hope that will be the case. I just looked the roster size for Tekken 7, and unless I'm mistaken, the initial release of that had 27 characters (and that's with the development team knowing they'd keep adding characters in future releases). That makes me hopeful Namco would have given SC6 enough of a budget to match or exceed that.

By the way, is your avatar fanart or official concept art for one of the SC games? It would make for a neat ingame outfit for Ivy.

Sadly, it's just a fanart, but I agree, it'd be an awesome design for her. Really suits both the alchemist and noblewoman aspects of her character.
Here's the whole picture.

I don't think a simplified roster will go over well. Especially not one game after SCV.
That's technically what they are doing with this game. Just not as huge of a difference compared to games like MK9, because most of SCV's characters were clones of veterans, or incorporated moves from them. Some characters don't have a huge chance at returning unless they become completely, and I do mean, completely, different from those with similar movesets.

On the bright side, there are some new additions coming, so I don't know what to expect.

I used to play Hwang & Xianghua in SC... both play almost the same but with small differances. I want them both to return back but at the same time I don’t similar play styles in the game. So I don’t want to see Hwang, Siong-Mina, Cassandra not Rock if they don’t have a very unique play style.

I don’t want clones in any form. Waste of development cost.

Cassandra plays nothing like Sophitia, and I mean nothing .

Mina is also extremely different from Kilik, back in IV she was slower, but had a insane guard damage game, which in IV meant you could win a round, she was not as safe as Kilik. She also had better spacing if I recall correctly

Aesthetic similarities don't make character clones, specially in Soul Calibur.

I want Natsu, even though I doubt I'd play her lol.
Then why do you want a character you are not going to play? lol

I would like the return of Hwang(reason why I changed my avatar) but that doesn't mean I don't want Yun. Both are different enough. I've seen a lot of SCIIIAE videos and Hwang is completely different from Yun. They share like 3 or 4 attacks at most so a roster with the two of them will work perfectly.

Because I like the character, man. I like Raph too but I probably won't play much of him in SC6 unless he's somehow top tier.

I hope Cassandra also comes back, as Ramus explained, she's quite different to Sophitia, i loved slapping the hell out of opponents with her shield.
If Natsu would be as different to Taki as Cassandra was to Sophitia, she'd be legit, and i'd be very happy :)

I think we’ll get a delayed bit of information in about a week or so.

Like, the press people who were at the event in Paris know some new stuff right now, but can’t say anything until the info embargo is done.

I assume that dual-blade dude could actually be a member from Tira's Birds of Passage group who are ... assassins... and whose organisation was destroyed during the Evil Seed event... which would fit the timeline perfectly. Maybe he's the head of the organisation who lost his mind because of the Evil Seed. That should not have happened yet in SCVI...

And as I posted somewhere else, judging from the trailer, he seems to wear similar gloves to Tira's armour gloves from SCIV and SCV, has his boots stuffed with feathers and all. The only thing not to coincide with my theory is that in the Wikis, I read that the ring blades were favoured (!) by the Birds of Passage and he obviously does not wield a ring blade. On the other hand, he might have priviledge to a different weapon for being their leader. Or they could simply retcon this. Also, imo his dual blade bears some resemblance to Tiras ring blade aesthetically... just a little, though...

What do you think?

EDIT: I re-read the Wiki and found out that only "Grim Bird"-ranked assassins would wield a ring blade, so that would work, too...

This actually makes a fair bit of sense.
If a young Tira is in the game this character could feature quite a bit into her story.
Maybe we'll get a Kilik and Tira rivalry in SCVII

Now thinking about it, Soul Calibur is really good when it comes to characters with similar styles as they rarely play the same. Tekken had to get rid some of their characters as they were just straight up clones (Christie).

For Cassandra and Seong Mi-na I'd just give them some moves from the new characters in SCV that won't be coming back. Cassandra would get some of Patty's S&S moves, while Mi-na would get some of Xiba's. It would differentiate them even more from Sophitia and Kilik.
