[13] Hero
It is generally a good idea to look at the Story Mode list and get a sense of who remains on that roster to understand who could be com8ng and who wouldn’t.
It is also a good idea to err on the safe side and expect the bare minimum of character slots available, that way, any additional announcements are an extra surprise.
Here is what we know:
There are 3 slots left on the story mode roster. We know that Cervantes is coming and he is likely to have a Story Mode. Thus we can infer that he will take up a slot on the story mode roster. That leaves only two slots left.
Note the spacing on those slots, there isn’t enough characters to fit another long name. Cervantes is eight characters, Raphael is seven characters, Cassandra is also eight characters in length. Since we know Cervantes is coming back, he will likely take the longest name left in the slots.
This means, that Raphael, and Cassandra are very likely out of the running since there are no slots left to fit them into the current story mode. The names have to be short enough to fit the remaining slots and they have to be characters we know that could be capable of getting a Story Mode. Of those that are short enough, they are...
Hilde, Hwang, Rock, Aeon.
Let’s not drift into speculation about whether another newcomer is going to fit in there just yet. Though possible, I find it rather unlikely right now.
Of these characters, who has the best chances of fitting those last two slots? Hwang is strongly hinted at in Mina’s profile and isn’t specifically named. Rock was in the original Soul Calibur and SC6 is a reboot. Aeon, also was in SC1; and is also featured on the villains gallery with Nightmare and the others. Hilde was seen only in SC4 and SC5, though she could fit similar to Talim at the tail end of the SC1 story, she still seems the least likely.
Aeon probably wouldn’t give a very good story line, His transformation predates SE, his mind is mostly monthrous thought now and may not make the best story mode subject, but Astaroth is similar (though more coherent).
This leaves Rock; a returner from previous games, missing only one game (SC5). Though his style is similar to Astaroth and Namco is trying to avoid clones, it could still be possible to bring him in for the game.
What’s left would be bosses, Inferno for one story mode and the Indian Fu Manchu for the second. Though either one could be dropped in favor of something else. I still get this feeling that the Indian Fu Manchu is simply a CAS preset.
It is possible that one story mode slot could fit a new character, and it is possible to still be completely wrong on everything. But I think the best odds right now are Rock, Hwang and Cervantes. We’ll see soon enough
