The Arcade Stick and Convertor Thread & List

So reading through this thread, it looks like a lot of people would have picked up a custom stick if they had it to do over again. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can go for a good custom stick?

I got HORI's for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
As my bf already had them as collectables, I got the ones without the game pictures on it.

I have just started working with it on the PS3, but my experience with the Xbox 360 was very good. That is the main reason why I decided to buy them.

So I'm in kind of a predicament with my HFS3 mod. My goal was to replace the stick and buttons with a Sanwa JLF stick and OBSF-30 buttons. I've soldered the sanwa JLF wires to the PCB successfully and it works. I've also mounted the JLF to the hori housing. However, I'm having issues with the sanwa buttons.

1. My first problem is with the prongs on the sanwa buttons. They're too big to fit through the PCB holes that the hori button prongs originally went through. I've looked at a couple solutions online, but I don't want my PCB hanging freely from wires. If possible, I would like to modify the Sanwa contacts such that they can be soldered directly onto the PCB. Is there an elegant solution to this?

2. This is a relatively minor issue, but I dremel'd the protruding divots from the hori metal face plate(the plate with the holes for the buttons and joystick). However, there are still little protruding sections on the sanwa buttons that prevent the button from going in smoothly. Should I just dremel/sand these portions off or is there a better way to go about this?

on the 360 hori, for the pcb mod, i drill the button holes out for the 2 buttons the main pcb solders to and just replace the small pcb that goes to the other 4 buttons with wires.

as for the button holes, i dremel them out a little larger (they're abnormally small)

Some pics of the SF4 official sticks (and pads)... Sexy! Kudos to MarkMan working with MadCatz, these look amazing.

:O :O major props to mark for those. Holy crap those pads actually look sweet as well. The bigger question though is if they're going to be light enough to hold in one hand. I don't see how the 360 one can be light enough if it's the same configuration :/

^ Going for the claw configuration, Syr? :P I usually just rest the pad on a leg if I do that for the support.

quick question.. does anybody know where i can get a REAL ps2/ps3 converter? because im currently having trouble finding any online and was wondering if any of you guys found any websites that have it in stock. cus if i cant get that then im going to get an HVG2 converter

wait it doesnt say anything anymore.. but it said earlier that you could get it by asking someone on one of the SRK/TZ forums

By the way, how are you guys holding your sticks.

[ ABK ]
[ G ]

I just can't get use to this way yet. It's like If my thumb is on G then my my ring finger is on K and that is weired. If my point is on G then My pinky is on K and that Just doesn't feel comfortable. Plus, it makes A and K very difficult for both comfort and accidental B press when I attempt A+K. On a positive side, I can now do Setsuka's AgB easily now.

I'm most comfortable with this pattern

[ B K L1 ]
[ A G ]

This way, L1 becomes whatever I want it to for emergency reasons. I can easily and comfortably hit A+B, A+K, B+K and A+G. The only problem is B+G in which I can map L1 to that if needed. With this way, I never have to deal with my pinky or thumb having to be part of the action.

D Pad also has their advantages and disadvantages as well. I can map it in such a way so that I can consistently do Setsuka's move but without the map and it is like impossible. On big advantage for the pad for me is a big boost in ability to Guard Impact moves. For whaever reason, I suck at it on a stick.

In Japan we do it the first way (with the thumb on the G).

The main reason is probably cause that's what the button set up is like in the arcade.

i have the xfps 3.0 converter for the xbox 360 and it works perfectly with a ps1 pad.
there is no lag at all, its completely perfect and awesome.
the only problem is the price is around 80 bucks consistently.

ps. i did try this thing out with a keyboard and mouse in a FPS. and its horrid. i cant imagine ever playing with it over a pad

I am thinking of buying a stick through crooked jester.

I have a Xbox 360, but I want my stick to be able to be used on PS2 and PS3 as well.

Is there anyway they can make my custom stick with that capability built in?
