I'd love some Soul Blade voices.
The problem about that is very few "quotes" were in this game, compared to the many that SCV has. Plus, there is no "language switch". Asian characters spoke Japanese, while European characters spoke English, even though the Japanese version had them speak Japanese, but not English.

Nice that they did that, considering I love the characters speaking their native languages, like TTT2, but you know how people can roll sometimes.

Of call the characters in Soul Blade, only Mitsurugi and Taki spoke their native language.

Hwang, Seong Mi-na, and Han-myeong, all Koreans, spoke Japanese.
Li Long, Chinese, spoke Japanese.
Cervantes, a Spaniard, spoke English.
Rock, a British born, Native American raised man who "discard(ed) his former habits, language, and memories", spoke English.
Sophitia, Greek, spoke English.
Siegfried, German, spoke English.
Voldo, Italian, hissed at you.

In hindsight, it was actually sort of lame, especially the whole "all asians are Japanese" thing, but I do understand the amount of effort it would take to get all those different VAs together for a simple fighting game, and understand why Namco would choose to just do "white people speak English, asian people speak Japanese" thing.

With that said, Siegfried's Soul Blade VA was the most trolltastic VA in the history of the series, and I would pay obscene amounts of money to have it back.

I stand corrected.

*shakes head*

It's more wishful thinking than something I'd actually expect to see, but if SC6 happens and features CAS mode, I'd like to see the ability to add accents to the character voices. I'd love to create souls that actually sound like their native tongue is Russian, Spanish, non-American English, etc.
I'm sure that would require either different VAs or the VAs to expand their acting skills. lol

Am I the only person who found that format ridiculous? I never liked it in Tekken and I wouldn't want it back in SoulCalibur. How is it that Jin was speaking to Nina in Japanese and she replies in English and they understand each other? They might as well speak one language over the other. That setup was not even authentic, because as you said, non-Japanese characters would speak Japanese anyway (Lars was from Switzerland and Alisa Bosconvitch originated in Russia, yet they spoke Japanese wtf). And with that, the majority of Asian characters spoke Japanese, despite that most of them they weren't from there. I don't know if I'd like SoulCalibur to go back into that territory again.

I wouldn't care about the language switch. I would be just fine with Taki speaking Japanese again. (In SC4, she did say messatsu in character select, even with english selected for her). I think there would be enough quotes and yells and stuff to spread around to moves and win poses, even though there were fewer.

I've been aching since SC1 for them to all speak their native languages. It's a huge pet peeve for me to have it like this. Especially since PS INSISTS on not even keeping their quotes period-authentic and throwing in 20th century BS like "show-em who's boss."

Wait, you mean they're not?

The Lars and Alisa thing makes sense (sort of) because Lars was part of Tekken Force which I guess means you need to speak Japanese, and Alisa was built to protect Jin so it'd be easier for them both to speak the same language. Basically don't think about it too hard.

And yeah, having people speak different languages in games is really hard to pull off perfectly because of all the work involved with it. Finding all of the right VAs that speak the language fluently (or can fake like they do) is not an easy task whatsoever.

I don't think it's any less believable to have characters understanding each other when speaking different languages than it is magically having everyone speaking the same language, personally.

After playing Tekken 6's story mode, I actually liked the bilingual conversations. Can't put my finger on why.

More onto the topic...I'm placing a bet on the next pack, like I did with the last one >:)

Tekken Costumes 2(Asuka/Julia/Jun)
Ancient Armor 2(valkyrie/bird-y-face-y stuff)
Modern Costumes 3(all the green jean stuff)
Hard Gay Pack 1 Wrestler Pack 1

It is pretty dumb in Jin's part, considering he is actually bilingual. Don't believe me?

Mind you Japanese was Jin's initial language.

Tekken 4 voices are awful. Hwoarang voice is just personified cringe. It's strange cause Jin speaks English with Hwoarang but in his own ending he speaks Japanese. I wonder if they used the same voice actor.

I swear Lili has 3 voice actresses, one for game play, one for a cut scene and one for her ending.

I know it is native language. He may have said that sentence in English, but he doesn't sound fluent in it (seeing that he hardly ever speaks English in later games). And again, other asian, non-japanese characters spoke Japanese by default, which doesn't seem authentic to me.

I actually love it when characters speak their language (or even Asians speak Japanese and Europeans speak English). Makes them more unique and interesting.
In the same sense that I hate when half the characters are Japanese and the rest are Americans (not Soul, other games).

Does anyone else out there want new weapons, I mean team new weapon 'styles' would be awesome but how about new weapons for each character. We have The Master and the joke weapons how about mystical looking ones, steapunk style ones.
General variants such as Cervantes's swords being a set of katana's, more medieval looking swords and shields for characters, maces or clubs replacing swords ect......

Love your ideas ax's and spears would be fantastic. Shame it'll probibly never happen but it'd open up soooooo many more options for CAS
It's not like these additions would even effect range it'd be perfect. Aeon with Voldo style claws, ivy with a thin Steele whip....
