Nightmare is a clone of himself, provided by those Assassins Creed 1 future guys, or DaVinci.
SCV is in the Matrix and so are you.

And yes i'm trolling. A bit.

I really wonder how far they are going with that digital AC stuff in SCV.

May be Nightmare is just...Nightmare, but they returned to the old Black Knight design instead the "multidimensional" monster.

Dude was a firm believer in the occult arts so within the Soul Calibur universe context it's not out of the question that he would have taken Nightmare as an advisor. Also, his mistakes led directly to the Thirty Years' War...like listening to a guy who would directly benefit from all the death a war would produce. SoulCalibur back to being entwined with history? YES.
 
Nice Thespian. I think those little loose ties to history is a nice touch!

Also, the box art is quite nice. Nightmare is looking good there.

I'm pretty sure it's just for composition's sake. Remember that both Siegfried and Nightmare has stances/moves where they switch hands.

And how could he be Raphael if he's also in the game and, storyline wise, he's searching for Amy *coughViolacough* ?
 
now that we've got sophimare out of the way, heres what i wannna know, how the hell is the malfested and the private army gonna effect nightmare, hopefully badass, story mode

Pretty sure he's always been ambidextrous. He just normally carried his sword in his small hand, and attacked with it using his claw. In that picture, he's attacking, so he's using his claw. Looks like 6B haha.

Edit: Scratch that, I'm wrong. Looks like he used his smaller arm to attack with the sword for most of the moves.
 
@hailinferno: I'm not sure, but like someone said, it's like Nightmare has his own Shwarzwind, which would be quite nice if he encounters Siegfried yet again in story mode.
