There's a serious problem with 3d artists in this game..

1-You have plenty of time to post on this site all day complaining about stuff.

2-No because the game is going to be fine. But if the game looks good and plays like shit, then it's a wrap for this series.

1- As free time sucker , post here mostly during work dead moments(a lot) or from home when i've nothing to do =/= take the car and go to tournaments :D

2-and is exactly here teh fail of the logic: if gameplay suck i don't care if graphic look cool,i will not like it
Is like the booty vs bewbs debate, even prefering teh booty(gameplay) my opinion is that if possible i want epic booty AND epic bewbs. And maybe even epic face. And her being a not diseased pro at blowjob. If she's a pro at yoga too i'm not against it,i will be even happy :D
Now see my logic? :D

---

oh,obvious my post must not be read as "i don't try tournaments cuz i'm cool and i've a life" :D

Just as "as long i will like try it sometimes in MY personal standard week i can't/will be too much effort" :D

EDIT: Malice's post sums up what i was trying to say in about 2 sentences...it took me almost an hour to write this wall of text...TT-TT

...
I never get teh omg you care about xxx instead yyy!
...
well its simple. it's because the DEV's have deadlines.

Now when i say this, im really not trying to be mean, it's just that i don't have a good enough command of the english language to state this in a more agreeable manner...

I honestly believe that we don't have anything to complain about with the graphics in their current state. i mean this is my opinion, yes, but i feel that for us to just simply demand more than what we already have despite what, besides some flaws, are still fairly good quality models nothing short of the industry standard, is rather greedy of us. and i'm sure if namco is going to release the best SC game yet, they've (no offense) more important things to focus their attention to than nitpicking on the graphics.

not to mention the most common thing that actually goes towards a games rating and success is the graphics themselves (although as i mentioned before, this is mostly the fault of new generation gamers who'd rather ride through a beautifully illustrated elementary level game before they embrace a deep gaming experience) and i'm just hoping that after presenting these things, people will turn their concerns away from what the game looks like, and towards how will it handle gameplay wise. and by gameplay wise i don't even necessarily mean from a competitive standpoint. there are questions and issues that both competitive and casuals should be bringing up to DEVs that IMHO are far more important than minor graphical issues. does anyone remember what a great experience SC3 was for casual players? now compare that to SC4 and tell me whats missing ;)

I'm not gonna go along now and say what we should and shouldn't talk about - everyone is entitled to their opinion, and i don't intend to infringe upon that; but i feel their are more important issues that we could/should/are/have been attempting to address besides complaining that "x" embroidery on whatever character's clothing is missing or different, or "y's" beard sucks. and what's more, we don't need to blow those things out of proportion. these are even things that i don't even necessarily agree with, but regardless of what i think, some of these things i believe we as a community whole should give our devoted attention to would be:

Casuals:
Game Modes
Storyline
General Character Design
Speed/Flow of the game
New Experiences
Character Background
Online Play
ect...

Competitive:
General Balance
Game Physics (ie. just guards)
Integration/Proper Balance of newer characters

Both:
Tutorial Mode
Improved Training mode

I say this not to shoot down anybody's opinion or to impose my own thoughts upon others. I say this because I simply want to see the best SC game yet. and after all, don't you think namco has enough riding on their shoulders without having to worry about minor 3D model issues on top of it? What i mean to say is they don't have the time to appease every one person, every one demand. Namco will do what they think is best for the game, and looking at the trends, over time they have upgraded and changed 3D models according to their best judgement. IMO what we can do is give them important things to focus on, things that were lacking in previous installments.

First thanks for the big reply being not english language me too i double appreciate the effort :D

My point was just about contesting the absence of logic of this
and i'm sure if namco is going to release the best SC game yet, they've (no offense) more important things to focus their attention to than nitpicking on the graphics.

because for how work a SH like Namco have no sense :D
Again is not like Namco is a single giant fat man that he's building the game for us and must chose how spent his time

Is about(uber simplified)

A,B and C get paid to work 8.00-19.00 on gameplay
D,E and F get paid to work 8.00-19.00 on graphic

Ask to D,E and F to do this or that to get better graphic have 0% influence on A,B and C's work

They don't have to "chose how spent his time" there is no chose, both teams have theyr 8-19 specific work to do :D

ps: i escape to sleep, tomorrow i read if there is something to reply!

but remember that 'casual' and 'non-competitive' people are the ones who are pretty much responsible for SC5.
.
not exactly...

while you may have contributed, without us hardcore players of 8wayrun, there would have never been a facebook petition for you to sign, never would there have been people to harass namco's twitter for SCV. hence namco would have never listened to anyone, and work would never have begun on SCV because there would never have been any voice that objected to the series ending after SCIV. hence casual players and competitive players alike would never have had an opportunity to voice their opinion on the new game, because there wouldn't be one. but let's not get into that, we should probably keep this kind of stuff in PM's to avoid causing disagreements and possible flame wars, especially since this is a public forum where everyone is free to express their opinions.

While I agree with you on that, I wouldn't exactly go around censoring people due to their lack of understanding of the gameplay, technical shenanigans or whatever.
its not that we're trying to censor people due to their "lack of understanding of the gameplay, technical shenanigans", more or less (at least what i'm trying to get across) is that we have more important things to worry about, casual players and competitive players alike. i'm not trying to single anybody out. i'm just trying to get people thinking progressively. and if they don't agree, well thats their prerogative, it's not like i can force my ideals onto somebody else.

D,E and F get paid to work 8.00-19.00 on graphic
While it's true that they have different teams to work on different areas of the game, that's not exactly the issue. the issue is (putting it simply) bringing up too much stuff off minor bearing that applies to one group, and not enough to the other group. thusly one area of development will naturally receive more attention from the development team - by that, i mean that particular department would recieve more backing and support from their superiors, hence leaving the gameplay development department rather neglected. such would result in a game that looks very nice appearance-wise, but is lacking in gameplay features and balance.

And you know what? I actually agree with all of your points and Malice's. No, really!

What kinda ticks me off is snobbery. I just think there are better ways to quote and treat other's opinions without coming off as perceived dicks trying to speak to inferior beings without enlightenment.

But to each his own, I guess. I also forget that we're on the Interwebz where arguments are neverending. And I also had a rough week.. I do not usually interfere in conversations, but I should just grab a couple beers and cool off!

I got waaaaay off topic. Sorry peepz!

Comparisons?

So, Ivy actually looks like a woman in her concept art, 3d ZWEI looks (to me) like he's actually Jacob from Twilight, and Natsu looks WAAAAAY better in her concept art (especially her hair).

Concept art=3, 3d renders=0

When Natsu wins a match, when the rematch prompt appears, her face is SO off... she looks like a troll. I really hope they work on the faces.

I think it's just the personal style of the artist, and he deliberately wanted to do some things different than the concept art and ingame model. If you look at all the character illustrations, they all have the very thin nose. All the female characters also have MUCH bigger boobs in the illustrations than ingame.

There's one oddity which is that some clothing are different in the illustration. Like you see more of Ivy's lace bra on the illustration. I'm curious if the original design is more like the illustration or the ingame model.

I never paid attention til now... hmmm Yea, the chicks look a lot hotter in their concept art. In Tira and Viola 3D render, they look flat chested.
I thought ZWEI looked soo badass in his concept art. but turn out looking gay (not stupid).

I have to clarify: I don't think the graphics are bad, AT ALL.

The game looks great to me, quality-wise. I'm just not happy about some details of the characters that look worse than their 2D art. But it's not like this makes the game look bad.

But like some noted, luckily the ingame models look better most of the time. There's a huge imporvement in ZWEI's overall looks compared to the render, which is definitely the worst looking one compared to the art. I mean, from mighty warrior to thickset idiot.

And Ivy's face, why so different???

But still this doesn't make the graphics bad. I personally think SC3 had the best costumes in the serie, but it's far from being my favourite, due to the gameplay much less fun than other entries.

i agree with most of what i've read so far. what nags me the worst, though, is that whoever make those 3D renders has a weird tendency of choosing character poses and/or camera angles that keep you from seeing some of the details on the costumes. take voldo. or pyrrha. or natsu. or mitsu. or maxi. well, i think you see where i'm coming from.

Ok... The only character who has a better 3d render than his 2d, is Patroklos in my opinion.

However I'm pissed of by the Siegfried's 3d render looks. I mean, he looks horrible comparing to his 2d pics...

So I want THIS Siegfried:
sc05.jpg

BTW, Zwei's nose looks awful. His 3d model needs a plastic surgery...

I agree that concept siegfried was the one that needed done in the end. It's like the perfect way for him to be after the time gap.

I have high hopes for Siegrfied's 2P costume, since I don't like much about his first one, the hairdo, the short mantle, all look pretty meh to me.

I think it's just the personal style of the artist, and he deliberately wanted to do some things different than the concept art and ingame model. If you look at all the character illustrations, they all have the very thin nose. All the female characters also have MUCH bigger boobs in the illustrations than ingame..

Not to sound rude or put down the 3d modeller work, but usually (i don't know the specific Namco case) the "artist" is the chara designer and as hierarchy is (again) usually over him

Said that the 3d modeller deliberated chose to do it different sound like if the carpenter or the cameraman do different from what architect or director told them to do

But still there is ever the visual translation between anime(artwork) and realistic-anime(ingame) to count

The boob thing kind of derailed it, but for me it was more about facial features. Which still don't make or break a game, of course.
