Tira - Video and Discussion Thread

Tira looks like she won't be as 'flashy' in this one :/ I loved using her because it looked so cool, probably going to pick up a new main at this rate.

I don't know how Tira seem less flashy to you, Heck her Critical Edge IMO is the flashiest of the bunch, but I guess that is a discussion for the Aesthetic thread.

Anyway the more videos I see of Tira the more excited I get to finally get the game in my hands just to play as her.

To assist with the well-keeping of this thread, let's leave this strictly to gameplay from now on. Not asking why she wasn't played, etc. Just questions/notes/concerns on combos, moves, etc.

In the latest interview vid, you can see Tira do her old B+K auto GI against Pyrha in the background. In misses, suggesting the range has been drastically reduced, making it a lot less usable now outside of close range.

If her BE throw is in that video can someone tell me what its animation is and what it does? I can't watch videos on phones from getro....

There is no BE throw in the video. Was it even mention that she had a BE throw because this is the first I heard of it.

I'm not feeling her new low when she rolls her blade on the ground.
It looks like half of her blade is in the ground...

Good fight at 2:55-6:20.
Tira's looking amazing.
"If Tira were able to stay in Gloomy mode, she'd definitely be top-tier." Yeahbuddy.

Yea sorry about the amount of BB, 2K and throws in those vids. It was a situation where I had been playing the demo on stick all weekend and on the stream I got to use pad, but found it difficult (the way I hold a pad) to do A+B+K for Brave Edges and Critical Edges, even on triggers. Should have probably stuck on stick.

I think Tira is a bit more safe and there is a ton of stuff that I didn't get to use against Oof's Mitsu (because of his style of stand back BB/2K,B- play safe), not exactly the best thing to do for an exhibition showing off new stuff imo, but the few opportunities I did have a chance (hitting GS 33B, i failed pretty hard on doing anything good like 4A,~ ect, even missed simple 66B BE ect.

Before I note some stuff, I should note that a lot of us felt the move lists were still incomplete, a lot of characters were missing basic moves, all A+K moves were missing/removed/switched to other buttons and each character felt like they only had half their moves.

Good things I noticed-
-Her wsB now has a guaranteed followup on normal or ch of wsB+K~(A,B,K)
-Her JS 236K, Taunt and A+B (formerly A+K) all have a high probability for mood change.
-Her JS 66B hits grounded, hallelujah! However I had it whiff on off-axis grounded opponents a bunch. As many of you know the BE version bounces people off the ground.
-Her GS 1B (11B in JS) on CH in gives her a launch into GS btB+K which guarantees 66B BE or CE.
-Her 9B+K,B is GREAT now with the opponents lack of ability to GI without meter, you can pressure people teching or rolling after KD, VERY well with this. Also the A follow up tracks much better now, so once you get people knowing to step the GC B, the A fills in well and is safe. K still hits low at max distance.
-Her new GS 11B (the sliding buzzsaw move) can be held for more blade hits, the normal version hits 3 times and is safe on block, the held version hits 7 times and is unsafe on block, the 7 hit one does hella damage too.
-Her GS 6A (formerly GS 66A) now stuns on hit, shakeable on normal, unshakable on CH. Guaranteed 33B off of it. hella quick.
-She doesn't randomly change much anymore, though it's not super thrilling to be around 40% life in GS, start a combo and her SELF-damage triggers her auto-low life change regardless of what moves you are doing. But at least you can plan for it.
- Her JS A+B auto-GIs highs and mids, the window is very small, but if she GI's with it (for me) it always seemed to guarantee a switch to GS and gave you enough time for a nice mix up.
-Her new GS 66A is very short range (like AA range) but tracks to both sides very well, and guard crushes. On CH it crumple stuns which allows 33B to launch.
-You can still do GS 66666B for more hits and this auto-changes you to JS on hit, if you don't have meter this still does decent damage as opposed to the BE version.

Bad things I noticed:
-Her GS counter (B+K) still auto-GIs the same way, however the repel animation sends them VERY far away, I only connected with the actual attack throw ONCE out of around 20 successful auto-GI's. Seems to only work with oppoents back to walls/edges ect. Hope they fix it.
-3kA is gone for this demo so no stuns into 3kA, 11K (which is now 44K) BT B+K for us.
-in JS it's still very hard to get pressure characters of of you like Maxi, Leixia and Natsu. You still have to use vigorus amounts of 2K, 3K (which is old 6K) and BB, lots of stepping and backdashing.
-Her JS 22B doesn't seem guaranteed after 1A or 1K (old JS 88K) anymore. I might have just sucked at buffering it, but I only hit when my opponent didn't immediately tech.
-BT 2K, doesn't KD anymore (seemingly for all characters), I feel this REALLY weakens her BT game, because the BT 2K doesn't even seem to give advantage on hit (I got c.2A beat by Leixia BB a bunch after hitting the 2K)
-4B:B:B is only guaranteed on CH... why?
-I didn't even know she had a BE throw, shame I didn't think to try it.
- Her overall array of lows still suck. I don't feel like doing 2K all day.
-Despite her many multiple-hitting moves, she doesn't seem to break guard well. Why?
- She didn't have many new moves or set ups, just improved old moves.

Anyways that's all I got off the top of my head, maybe some discussion will jog my memory.

Overall I eel she is improved but still kinda easy to predict and doesn't have a lot of tools up close vs quick opponents. Time will tell if her move list still has stuff missing from it, I hope it does, because a lot of moves were missing for no reason at all.

glad Up draft is more useful.

is 4B:B:B safe now at least?

Out of the few times I actually attempted it, it was not punished on block. However I did no tests to substantiate this. There wasn't a lot of room for testing stuff, too many people rotating all the time, a lot of people were playing safe characters and doing nothing interesting, I have no idea why, but ...gamers. shrug. I played a lot of Leixia and Natsu this weekend as well, so Tira wasn't my primary focus, I was just the only one picking her and winning, so they threw me up on stream.
