Nah, people bitch way too much about the silliest stuff in the game. There are legitimate gripes with the game, but most of the common stuff people bitch about is because they're too lazy to actually learn the game.
Other than that, I don't even believe Wolverine or Wesker are top five (which are Zero, Phoenix, Trish, Dante, and Mag, in my opinion); people only think he's so because he's simple, does good damage on his own, and people don't know how to deal with divekick or Berserker slash, which makes his pressure seem way better than it actually is.
Honestly, once you understand Wolverine and the game in general, the only things you have to worry about are Airthrows (which really only matter if he has an assist that can make him convert them into real damage) and him baiting your airthrow with jump back+dive kick.
Really, already got bored with this game and most that aren't SC, but people are letting all the characters flourish as well as they can and, because of it, are already making the tournament scene for the game rather stagnant. Luckily, Capcom's bringing those annoucements, I guess.
