Viola Video Discussion

So there was a stream archive I was on for our biweekly tournaments recently: http://www.twitch.tv/thedigitaldojo/b/311714635

I came in 4th after SPQR, kPc and Dr.Dogg.

My matches:

1.) 35:20
2.) 1:02:52
3 and 4.) 1:35:04

These weren't my only matches - SPQR sent me to losers, and until around final 4 of losers, those weren't streamed. :P

In other news - I seem to choke with her when I'm playing offline -_-.

I do fine against top level players online, even those that know the matchup really well and will do stuff like JG or GI my BEs or recalls. Then I go to our biweeklies, abuse people's lack of knowledge there, then when they wise up to it, completely choke and start playing like an idiot. =[ Seriously, people ducking my recalls/stepping is nothing new to me, but I just kept trying it. I'm an idiot.

It also helps that I was playing kPc, and whenever I tried to mix it up, he guessed right.

I've found it iffy. It doesn't work on some hitboxes, and sometimes if you land the 44B too close it'll whiff anyone.

Along with that, I never took amazing advantage of it unfortunately (for example I hit SPQR with 3B after it, and accidentally used 66AAB as an ender insead of 66B :( Lead to me getting RO'd)

But yeah I've been using this since I found the 44B ender. You can also play with it a bit and do some other stuff if they decide to stay down, like lay out a 2B+K. Lots of applications. :)

I'm gonna shape up by the next biweekly hopefully, because I seriously choked there. I'm also not confident enough in timing JGs to do them, even though it went through my head to try a couple times.

That combo you get off the 7A+B A+B+K is awesome
 
I don't see many JG's in any thread with videos posted. At least not to the extent GI's were used in the rest of the series.

The videos above from Trace_afj are pretty close to how I play except I do more cancels and (QS) 22AB's or (QS) 22KB's into launches or throws. My BnB for pressure has been to change the timing of cancels from SET AAB (or any attack that ends in a recall, even A+BAB). Cancel the moment the orb is caught into ORB 6B+K then back to a recall combo, throw, launch,ORB 2A+B GB or another set combo like 6A+B or 6AB. Cancel as soon as the orb hits the opponent but before it is caught for a SET 6B+K, 2B+K, blah blah blah repeat and rinse - it all strings together. Viola is the coolest style of any character of any fighting game ever. IMHO...

I'm not a Viola player, but I have a question some of you could answer. If you are so kind. =)


What happened at 8:58? Ivy attacked Viola, but then her orb attacked Ivy.

Can this be reproduced with another characters? What did Viola do?
 
Either Brave Edge orb attacks continue even after she gets hit, or it was a glitch. I can't test/confirm at this moment but hopefully someone else can soon.

Also - tell your SA mod to do their job and get this thread stickied, the fact that it isn't already is frankly a joke.

I'm pretty sure there isn't an active SA mod here, lol.
 
And that pisses me off. Where's the responsibility? Hell, I'd take the job here if offered it just to clean this SA up, lol.
