Viola Video Discussion

Whats up everybody. This is the video for the texas showdown tournament last week. I wanted to get some feedback on my viola so i can step up my game and improve for the next tournament. They dont have the matches separated nor do i know how to post videos on here so this is the link

Looks like you know what you're doing, but there were a few holes in your game. I liked the 8A+B enders on your launchers, it really helped you continue pressure. However, there were times when doing the max damage ender, 66B 66A+BB would have ended the round, but you still chose 8A+B. Some rounds were actually lost on that decision.

Your ORB game needs some work as well. It was really obvious to me that you were mostly going for throws, which is smart, but when used mids you chose 3B. You also whiff punished a NM CE with ORB 3B. 3B has nice pushback and all, but your go-to mid in ORB mode should be 4B into either 2A+B to set the orb or 66A+BB for max damage. 33B 66B 66A+BB is your best sidestep whiff punish. Those moves will also beat out NM's A+B Revenge.

I also disagreed with your meter usage, but I really dont like 2B+K (BE) combos. They're too easy to drop, and in cases you ate a lot damage for dropping them. You weren't even getting much damage from the meter usage because you were using 8A+B. The players you were fighting against were free to 44A (BE), I'd have saved for that.

Actually, I'd be CEing a lot more as well. Work on the timing for the free launch you get if you land either BB or 1K. Also throw out CE when you have the ball and are at medium distance, so it has a chance of hitting, not at the start of the round, where it'll never hit. Trust me that CE is stupid :)
 
Weird Viola bug, I don't know if it's been shown/seen before, but..
Her orb is invisible from 0:09-0:16 but it's with her.. o.o;

Thanks for your input. Ive been taking your advice and im seeing improvement already. And that CE is too good for me not to be using it. Those high low mixups are too god like!
 
This is the the most recent "on record" video I have of me playing her. Any input would be great. Granted I have learned a TON since then but this was my second tourny (after FR). Now I am aware of some new techs and the higher damage combos but judging strictly on THIS vid some input would still be good in case I'm STILL missing something. I wasn't as decent with leixia back then either but that's another character. I also had my CE snuffed 3 times lol.
 
Got another tourny coming up next month so I'm really trying to crack down.

I'm aware of some massive mistakes I did make, like punishing Xiba's 66B's with her AA's etc.
The throw at the end where he was ducking was an accident, I meant to 3B but I hit my shoulder button on accident and hence she threw lol.

On the last hit of Xiba's 66BBB, try using 4B+K and punishing him.

Yeah I will. I also know you can SS that move at the right time but if I end up getting a "deer in the headlights" guard where I just block the string I'll be sure to 4B+K it. seems it'll be useful on a lot of block strings. I tested it, you sir have just assisted in a LOT of matchups I have trouble with. I'll be playtesting and incorporating it into my game tonight.
 
Isn't the 4B+K just 22_88B+K, but only activated by a vertical counter?
If it is, you can't really get much off of it unless it's counter.

You can actually combo of it if her orb is set, and it's for dodging and interrupt strings of attacks; and most of the time you will get CH.

22_88B+K is also slower.
 
Say if you had her orb set and used 4B+K on the second hit of Xiba's 66BBB, she would automatically get a CH which you can knock them into the air using 3B and doing something from there.

I haven't tested it yet, but maybe you can for me. Try getting Xiba to do his 66BBB and use 4B+K on the second hit with her orb set. Then after you get a CH use 3B and then try 6A+B and then a low attack of your choice. I'm not sure if it works.

me and arragh already did that stuff, in future search the forum for the proper use of 4B+K lol
tbh 4B+K isnt that great just side step and use 3b
