What do you think your strengths and weaknesses as a player are?

Your lack of respect toward other players is amusing. I'm really good to react to attacks either side stepping or JGing. Also ask any top player, JG is rather easy to do, the timing is simple. I can JG every CE, BE or GB attack with no complications, sorry if you can't do that.

I don't know if this count as a weakness but I don't use GI at all.

Show a video of you JG'ing "almost anything" or bullshit

I dont get what your arguing DIS (by the way you have to get a new nick), all he is saying is that if he is in Training mode and he knows a particular move in the game is coming he can jG it. NBD.
A lot of people can do that. Of course that doesn't mean that we will predict and jG everything in a game, but the capability to do it is there if we knew exactly what was going to be used next.

That's all I was trying to say. JG in training mode and actually doing it in a battle is 2 different things. Saying you can "jg almost anything" is moot if you're talking about training mode where you KNOW exactly what they will do. What I was arguing was that he implied he can "JG almost anything" in a real fight. Even I can JG almost anything in training mode, that really doesn't matter.

BTW I have asked for a new name, Jaxel ignores me. 3 different attempts now too mind you.

Of course it matters. One preludes the other. jG is only a reaction based strat in strings and slow moves. Its not a system one can use to react to people's every move. That is impossible, no one can do that. If that's what he was saying I agree with you, its a crock of shit. But I dont think thats what he was referring to. I think he was referring to knowing the move was coming and hence jGing it. Regardless of the move. Which is believable though much harder in a battle scenario.

JG on reaction is rather simple. Is not like you will JG every move of the match, that is impossible I think, but reacting to certain attacks and JGing is not hard to do. For example you didn't ukemi after Opyr knocks you down then she attempts to do WRA+B JGing that is really easy, but JGing something like BB is rather complicated. What I tried to said with my strength is that I can easily react and JG when needed not that I will JG every attack on the match.

I thought of another weakness of mine, I get easily distracted. If you watch my matches from DEV you can see me looking around in between rounds like an idiot. Honestly I have a hard time staying forcued.

Strenght: If I see you having trouble with something I will keep doing it non-stop until you're dead.
If I'm using Ezio I will not be afraid to use Crossbow if you give me the chance, hell I will ring you out with it. Ask Drake he knows how much Crossbow sucks for you if you let me get rolling.

Great thread. I'll start with my weakness.

Weakness
I'm slow with picking up on anything, and it takes awhile to really get into gamer mode, especially if I haven't played the game for several days. I'm like a bee that needs to get slapped around a little in order to get into kick butt mode. XD

I haven't learned how to break throws yet, I almost never see them coming.

I always have a very hard time against fast fighters, and in the heat of the moment mess up my attack inputs. I know how to defend some attacks, but my inputs aren't always pressed correctly, resulting in a failure to execute the proper response. It sucks especially if you know what you're doing but just can't get the inputs in correctly. XD

I am not familiar with most of the character's move sets, so I tend to fall for allot of attacks. I don't have enough time to really play this game, so I do my best to wing it, and just have fun. ^^

Strengths
Hm...I honestly don't know anymore. It depends. Sometimes, I combo and mix up extremely well, other times I don't. So, it really has allot to do with my attitude towards the game. If I focus and enjoy myself to the challenge, I can put up a good fight, win or lose.

I seem to favor powerful attacks allot, and manage to pull it off fairly well during mix ups. That's probably my strength, I guess.

I guess I don't really give much thought to my strengths, cause I'm more focusing on overcoming my weakness. If I lean towards my strengths allot, it can turn into my greatest weakness. So I don't regard what I can do well that much. People will catch on and find ways to defeat it. but if I turn my weakness into strengths I add something fresh to my gameplay, and provide a more fun challenge.

My greatest strength is simply the love of the game. Having fun, and learning something new from the better gamer. Regardless of my weakness, positive attitude can take you a long way. ^^

I'm no pro, far from it, but at least I know the secret formula to becoming one. It's only a matter of time and practice. Which I don't have enough of so it makes sense when I don't do too well. XD

If I have enough time for it, I'm confident I can get there too. Anyone can. ^^

aGI's. they're my weakness and strength. i love to use them whenever possible, i even go out of my to achieve them. but their are times when i go for it too hard and eat a nice shoryuken sandwich. however, i'm accustomed to when/what/where i can aGI an opponent so when i do land it, IT. IS. AMAZING!

i also have a tendency to get "lost" in my stances with Maxi. this usually happens when i land a hit and accidentally hit 4 or 6 afterward, unintentionally, and i eat yet another shoryuken sandwich....with cheese this time!

i also have a cute habit of doing cute dumb shit like BB CE!!!! i looooove BB CE, people love to hit my face after a BB so i CE them for CH mwahahahahahaha! however, this doesn't work on my frinds too often since i do this a lot (and i mean a loooooot).

the single most rage-tastic move in the game for me is yoshi's doorknocker. i don't know why, but it causes my rage-o-meter to skyrocket when it hits me. i think it's mostly because the move people use to get it (1A i think) and i just never see it coming.

voldo's 66B[BE]. i spam this when i have all two meters because for some reason, people just sit there and take it either on guard or (more preferably) to their face. i'm like 90% sure you can either side-step the 2nd hit and/or the 2nd/3rd/4th BE lol.

just straight up forgetting grabs exist in the game! i go for like 20 games without grabbing somehow! i don't know why, but i just forget that "hey, i can grab his face and RO him"

i'm awesome at fighting games

Whee ^-^
Strengths:
-Knowing SC 4 mitsu
-GI like a pro, applying it (window is too large anyway)

Weaknesses:
-Eating counter CE's like a pro, its a talent
-Hating SC 5 mitsu, hating rest of the cast even more, using mitsu
-Hating JG as a mechanic
-Hating online ranked fakers (smurfs)
-Replying to fakers, morons, griefers
-Usually drink, drank, drunk while playing (correct protocol for fighters)
-Reading too much forums of games instead of playing
-Having way less time to the game than desired
-Starting to get too damn old for this shit (though to be fair.. a lot of people who attend tournies seem already too old..)

What can be considered my strength and my weakness, in the context of SoulCalibur, is that I rush in offensively right from the start. This is all well and good, because I can easily win if I keep the pressure on. However, if I make a mistake or make a move too late, I'm not a good guarder, and I'll get pummeled by my opponent. And then, as a flat-out weakness, I'm too impatient when I guard, so I usually guard, but then stop blocking to dish out a move, but I'm too early and my opponent gets a few hits on me before I have a chance to get back to equal footing. And some of those moves can be deadly, especially if it's happened once or more already in the match.

As for outside of SoulCalibur, my biggest weakness if that I don't take critisism that well. Even when I ask for it, I'm not ready to handle it, and my mind goes into defense mode and I refuse to acknowledge it. This makes me a hypocrite when I attempt to give critisism, even if someone asks for it from me, so I try my best to stay neutral in that regard.

Ah! 5 classes and I should be practicing SC5! So I'll try to have this stuff up some time next month. XD

Or you could've read between the lines and not started an argument based on a lack of willingness to meet people halfway ^_~
I don't read between the lines. I take people literally, and I hate metaphors and sarcasm.

You have to forgive me, but many people make extraordinary claims. It happens so often that I assumed this case was another one of those.

Strengths:
Defense.
Good Ukemi.
Good reaction time.
I'm calm.
Really good spacing.
I can rushdown really well.

Weaknesses:
I'm not good at breaking throws.
Frame data. I only know it for 3 characters.
I need to learn more matchups.
I don't JG that much.

One other weakness of mine. Sometimes during a match I'll start doing iagA too fast and it messes up my timing to I start getting AA and throw attempts. Although sometimes I get a single A due to the game not registering the fact I did an ag slide. Maybe I'm pressing the buttons too lightly. Who knows.

Strengths: What strengths?
I'm decent with pretty much everyone except Astaroth, Siegfried, ZWEI, and Patsuka.
Ukemi is getting back up really fast after getting knocked down right? I'm okay with that.

Weaknesses:
Super casuality/stupidity. I'm just now getting the hang of the notation, and 90% of the time I have no idea what anyone on here is talking about. And most of the time I can't even wrap my mind around a lot of the more advanced techniques and playstyles that are discussed. Like, frame data? Teching? iagA? what the hell? It's too much for me. I feel like I'm one of those people who doesn't have the capacity to be a truly skilled player. [not that I have a problem with that]
I forget that you can block lows all the time.
I have horrible GI timing and I did a JG once in practice mode. Once.
I spam throws like it's going out of style. oh god it's so bad
I'm not good with pressure at all.
But the worst part is I don't have internet connection to my toaster so I can't really gauge how good I actually am against other people. Playing against computers is one thing, but against people it's a whole different ballpark. Also my main is Devil Jin.

Hey don't worry about it man. If you're that aware of your faults, you can only get better. As long as you can get better, things are going great!

EDIT: Updated, now with less double posting!

Updating! Woohoo!

Hmm...

Strengths:
-shameless(a win is a win)
-aggressiveness(KILL! KILL! KILL!)
-willingness to improvise and learn new shit
-completely indifferent about victory/defeat

Weaknesses:
-will randomly fail to react to things(like a deer in the headlights -.- )
-doesn't break throws
-aggressiveness is often without control(hello CH combos!)
-...forgetting lots of things...
-poor management of meter
-bad habits(you expect me to *NOT* do Dampierre 623B ~ B+G? You rascals.)
-lack of useful experience
-a wee bit more nihilistic than is useful
-can't settle on a single character
-...forgets he's playing Elysium and uses a slow CE in horrible situations...
-completely indifferent about victory/defeat
-what the fuck is JG?

Like, frame data? Teching? iagA? what the hell? It's too much for me. I feel like I'm one of those people who doesn't have the capacity to be a truly skilled player. [not that I have a problem with that]

I was in that boat a couple of months ago. As long as you make a conscious effort to learn notation etc, it will help enormously. If you don't know something, just ask. You might be surprised by how many people will be willing to help around here.

In addition, I think everyone has the capacity to be a skilled player, just depends how much they are willing to put into the game. Assuming you are human and don't have the reaction time of a turtle, I would say you have just as much of a chance as anyone.
