Why do people spam

recently i've been doing player matches and it's so much more fun. simply
-boot any bad connection
-boot spammers(win or lose)
-3 players in room
-i also boot people who use the same character for more than 3 fights(win or lose). i get bored fighting the same crap over and over. i use random, most people join in

btw hosting your own session if def the way to go in player matches

I say it's most likely because their aren't confident with the little moves they know (if any) leading to a consecutive Rush and B spam in hopes of gaining a win.

im not on this site that much but there is one question i have why do people spam and when you play ranked games people use lag and if there's a way to beat thren let me know lol how to beat those type of people because im sick and tired of losing im not a sore. loser i just want to shut down the people that spam thank you and i would like to know where you get thoes mini pics of the soul calibur 4 characters if you know where you can get them give me a link or pm me on this site.

well, I didn't want to read 6 pages of posts, so if somebody has already mentioned this than please ignore it. With that said, destroying spammers with Kilik (my main) is easy. I take pleasure in punishing them for their stupid ways. The most effective tool I've found for destroying spammers with Kilik is 22_88B, A+K, 1A+B (thanks Fuzion). Explanation: a universally foolish characteristic of all spammers is that they will simply run towards you and mash their favorite combo, be it AA, BB, AAB or what have you. Most of those are easily sidestepped and then launched with B, then follow-up with A+K and as they land wait a bit and do 1A+B. 90% of the time that works.

Another efficient Kilik spammer punishment tool is 6A, A, A. Just block their attack and go for it. And finally you can use 6A+B or 66AA. Of course, Kilik has a lot more than that but I've found those 4 to be ideal for humiliating spammers and showing them the futility of their ways. Of course, if you've mastered Asura Dance you can just keep doing that all day and 99.99% of all spammers will be easily destroyed by it, but that is a HARD move to master (and if you have by any chance mastered FOTD into Asura than spammers are probably avoiding you like the plague as it is).

The big question isn't 'why do people spam?" but rather "why do people care?"

I'm constantly baffled by this attitude that makes people think that wins need to be qualified by some bs skill requirement. Spam just joins tiers, cheap, and whatever on the list of things people can bring up to say "That person beat me, but the didn't 'really' beat me". Who the hell cares? Your playing online for chrissakes. No one gives a shit about how skillfull the loser is. If you have any skill, win or lose, its gonna be recognized eventually. There is no need for this skill police attitude that has made every scrub since 1992 feel its their right to dictate what's a real win and what isn't.

If you are a serious player you don't make excuses, and if you are truly a casual player when you lose and how shouldn't mean anything. Crying about spamming makes you fail on both fronts.

If you can beat these spammers easily (and goddamit you should) then may I recommend you to the 'dumbing down my game 'cause of noobs thread'. The frustration of playing people who constantly lose to the same stuff and won't adapt is a separate issue (though somewhat related).

In short: Shut up and play.

...I feel odd posting something like this without the comforting pale blue Gamefaqs background to soothe me...

Refer to this post for why random Player Matches are not all they are cracked up to be (compared to ranked). Both have their advantages, but there's plenty of retarded hosts like this guy in player match.

@angelic

I'm not going to argue with you because I'm pretty convinced you're about 10 years old and don't know what's going on.

1) Pick Cervy
2) Activate uTorrent and spam 4B+K
3) Recieve a complaint message, reply with "Q.Q"
4) ????
5) Profit

Hey did anyone pickup the reference to South Park season 2 'Gnomes' episode here ?
I was reading through the posts and nearly wet myself I laughed so much.

Collect underpants againsts Starbucks !!!

1. Next time please write with some consideration of grammer.
2. People spam and use lag tactics because it gives them win. The only thing you can counter them with is skill. If you can't beat a spammer then i am afraid that you just aren't good at this game.

3. The little pictures are in the smilies.

It's GRAMMAR not grammer.

I see nothing wrong with spamming. I'd be stupid not to use a move on you that works 100% of the time. Call it cheap or whatever you want. In higher level play, you do what you need to win. I don't believe in cheap. I play to win.

When I first started, I used to think a lot of things were cheap until I realized how idiotic that type of thinking was. I knew it would not help me improve, therefore I had to change if I wanted to take the game seriously and win.

PICK ROCK AND DO HIS INFINITE GRAB SEQUENCE ;DDDDD

Most spammers don't have much skill, let alone know how to break your throw lol

are you serious? why would you do that? Marginal is right. 1 more room to avoid.

well, everybody should play like he wants to have fun.

if somebody is happy with spamming, then he shall do (he wont come far)
if somebody has strict definition, when to boot somebody, then he shall do. i dont care.
i play 95% ivy, because i want to master her, if somebody doesnt like that and boots me for that, i dont really care ^^
another good thing is, to have a big friendlist with people you like to fight with.
i mostly play against good and probably known people, althought i mostly loose ^^

the only reason, why i would kick somebody is for bad connection or a mike and no speech (feedback hurts). 4 or 5 is ok, everything else isnt really fun to play. but also there its not that hard to send a little message to the person, so he knows the reason.

sry, for bad english ;)

I think most semi-skilled players know how to handle a noob masher. But Ranked Match is filled with people I call Skilled Spammers. Who don't just spam, but know how to spam their character's trappiest moves, which really becomes a problem.

My suggestion:

The developers design these moves (usually NCs) deliberately. I think certain moves should only be usable up to a certain amount of times in a match, then auto-change to something else, more basic. Like showing the fighters fatigue from spamming that particular action. It would all of course re-set at the start of the next match though.

Personally i find online when im against spamming noobs that they tend to break the way i play. See im into tuning people with high/low mixups grabs and whatnot and predicting what they predict... its impossible with these kinds of players! to beat them I find myself just spamming back. If your more skilled that them you should be able to nail frames better and get more damage in and still win, thats if its laggy. I dont have many problems with spammers in 4 or 5 bars personally

personally I was drunk while playing tonight/mornin (sober now) and I picked random and used any spammable move I could remember (4[B+K] on a 5bar where I should have been impacted a LOT FTW!!). That and I 8way ran around ppl without attacking until they got a perfect. OR jumped up and down for an entire round. But that is just me. Sometimes spamming can be fun. As long as its easy to avoid spam and they are not avoiding it (lag not being enough of an issue to make the spam "broken") its fun to spam sometimes (answer to post)

and to ppl talking about kicking ppl for ____ reason. There are honestly only about 3 reasons to kick. 1: You hate the person. while not a very NICE reason, nobody should have to play with someone they HATE ...for WHATEVER reason. 2.: LAG 3: You've already beaten the person NUMEROUS times and you want room in your room to play new ppl (in which case you should tell them that via message or voice so that they understand you are tryin to play more ppl and what not.

anything other than that means either you made your room poorly (if you want to play only friends..please fucking make it so only friends can join.... ...otherwise your gonna keep kicking ppl and looking like a dick...and if you want a 3 person room..make it 3....not 4), your a dick, or you are just kinda being stupid [i understand kicking for not having a mic (why do ppl call it a MIKE? its not called a Michealphone...its called a MICROPHONE..mic is short for MICROPHONE...srry but whomever it was that wrote it like that is about the 20th person in the last week I saw do that...annoying...) if you are 1 v 1 maybe... but in a 4 person room ...that is just a horrible reason to kick...]

Well, I'm pretty convinced your an ass-licking idiot.

I wasn't trying to argue with anyone. It's my room I create the rules. If you don't like it, find another room and your problem is solved.

Shit, today I got booted for shaking stun combos and hitting host with an iCS every round. He said, "I'm here doing combos and your just doing the same shit". Does it bother me ? No, it's his room.

As for everyone else I have no problem, it just so happens that I simply find fighting as and against a variety of different characters more enjoyable. Lately, I haven't been booting anyone unless they are constantly getting smashed or laggy

Sometimes I join player matches and get booted for no reason. Don't even get a chance to play, wait 2 turns, boot. Why, I dunno. Annoys me, but I move on.

Twice I've been booted for not having a mic. I prefer to not have one. This isn't Counter-Strike, you don't need to relay info to your team. It's 1 on 1 ffs, I don't need/want to hear you and whatever else makes noise on your end, nor should you need/want to hear me and my doritos. Text msg is fine thanks. And for some reason everyone sounds like some hip-hop suburban white boy over the mic in this game - seriously. Whether you are one or not. I'd just rather not deal with it, there's nothing wrong with that.

Spamming is a non-issue to me. Someone spammming you? Spam them back. Win enough times and they'll either leave if it's your room, or they'll kick you if it's their room. Both outcomes would be fine for me. I get kicked all the time just for winning. Who knows if I'm winning with spam? Only way to find out is to play me. Also, I tend to get kicked faster or people leave faster if I'm abusing Cass. I tend to think it's because n00bs always say she's an instant-win button - I've gotten hate mail with this very description. Only the more reason for me to abuse her. BB hit/rinse/repeat all day until they wise up and stop trying to hit me out of disadvantage, then as soon as they block the BB and retaliate, spin backwards into wind god fist 214. Fun.

I NEVER directly boot anyone from the rooms I create, unless you are horribly laggy and even then I am SOMETIMES willing to work with you if I'm feeling patient. By work, I mean pick Asta and 1[A],A_B lag abuse until you wise up and leave on your own. I assume you will take the hint as to how my playstyle has suddenly turned to utter and complete BS because of your lag. And because of my policy of never directly booting anyone that's not lagging, sometimes I will have another player in my room text me asking why won't I boot that obvious n00b and/or spammer? I don't answer such messages. You will see as to why directly through my actions the next time I fight that spammer with my trusty Asta 1[A],A_B rinse and repeat.
