World game cup 2010

I don't see why I would donate money to people that don't play in tournaments anymore. The point may be to win, but to some this could be a chance of a lifetime; to go somewhere they might not have ever gone otherwise. A lot of players have shown great skill and promise, I seriously don't see why we should be voting or nominating through opinions.
The only guaranteed spots IMO, are first and second...which are thugish and SU. Everybody else should get a fair chance to qualify.

Your silly ace. If anyone knows who should or should not go, its the players that travel and who have played eachother. And theres absolutely no doubt that besides me and SU, it would be RTD and KDZ that would have the next 2 spots. SU would agree with this as well. The only disagreement so far is KDZ saying ceirnian over rtd but I dont know if he read what SU has said.

The 5th spot is the only one up for debate. A voldo or Ivy would be good but if both could attend then thats fine too. Esom said he would go if he were on the team so I don't see what the problem would be there unless manta would want to go.
 
Well you say silly but I think you might rethink that once you get my point.

First, no free hand-outs. This is Team U.S.A, nobody on the team should be handpicked or voted on. Both you (Thugish) and SU have been active in the community working your asses off to get where you at.

RTD and Ceirnian seem to have been busy with life, when the community needed them the most, I don't hold this against them but they haven't been current. And their skills? Well who knows if they have improved or dwindled. Word of mouth isn't enough.

Thirdly, there are a good number of plays in equal contention for 3,4, and 5 place currently active. KDZ needs to find his main, dreamkiller, Linkrkc, Ramon, the voldo players, then RTD and Ceirnian.

Fourth, Team U.S.A is going to need atleast 3000$ it seems, and I don't see how you're going to make this amount of money by hand picking a team and telling people who aren't even hyped about it to donate, and make a decent amount. I don't see it.

What I see, is that if we have a qualifier where the prize for the 3 top placers is a paid trip to France to rep Team U.S.A, we stand to gain a lot more money than otherwise, and that with the donations it should be easier to get the money. Of course this depends on how many people actually want to try their chances, otherwise we handpick(which would suck).

And since we might or might not have our own nationals in 2010, a qualifier tournament might be a good hype train for an otherwise slow moving community. If this encourages some players out of retirement or atleast participate more, more power to us.

By the end of the day you guys are the ones to gain, if the whole trip is paid for, then great for you great for us.
 
I suggested that idea months ago and this community showed ZERO interest in a qualifier or doing much of anything else for France. And it's too late to run one now because Cannes will be here before you know it, and any money used in trying to run a tournament might as well go to get Team USA to France. Plus, who the hell is going to travel to a qualifier at this point in time?

I wanted to do something at NEC because I knew you couldn't do much else with the holidays approaching and people needing time to save up. But now it's too late, so the only thing you can feasibly do at this point is handpick a team which Jaxel wants to make as democratic as possible and take donations.

Even more silly because its not realistic. Calibur isnt that hard to get back into. RTD just practiced playing in training mode whenever he wasnt online most of the time. Hes also one of the few players that can beat me. KDZ also. Its silly to have qualifiers that probably no one would go to and then some person that shouldnt be on the team is, while all the while me and SU know who should be on the team.
 
This is the team members me and Thugish prefe. Linkrkc/Alphamale comes down to either for me imo in regards to Ivy or Voldo. I'm not sure who Thugish prefers between Ivy/Voldo users but the other team members we have exactly the same.

Something tells me though based on being a member of 8wayrun most people here don't even realize there is a team being put together to represent nor do most have an idea as to why the above are super qualified lol. So I do think the decision is in the best interest of the team members themselves.
 
If I may, I have yet to see any complaints or objections to SU/TP's list from the likes of Woahzzz, Ramon, Ceirnian and Dreamkiller in this thread. And they are pretty much the only ones apart from the list who "deserve a spot". At least, from the posts here that's what I gather, so what seems to be the argument here?

This is a primarily a team event, so shouldn't people be supporting the decisions of the team? Or at least the 2 people who are willing to put work into forming one.. Saying "I want to donate to Team USA" but then after that saying "But I don't want to donate if they put somebody in there who "doesn't deserve to go"" is just contradictory and doesn't make sense to me. Thugish and SU have made their points, the only people who should be objecting to their list are those who AREN'T INCLUDED.

If you really want to see someone go to France, donate to him instead! :)
 
i support the proposed team and am willing to donate to the cause. At this point I'm just waiting for decisions to be made. Of the people listed who is willing and able to go, and once that's decided we can start donating and try to get this thing done. Also if france is trying to help out team usa they probably are waiting on info to. So I know everyone doesn't log on this site everyday so if people have ways to contact the proposed team members and atleast ask them to start seriously thinking about wether they can make it. On top of that any of the alternates suggested should be contacted so that just incase they can start planning.

Who said I wouldn't donate, just because they don't like my plan. If Team USA can get a good amount of money for the trip then it's whatever. I proposed that idea to make more money for them to go.

What I don't like is that whole idea of well I know who's the strongest so I will form the team. I don't think the team should be handpicked by an individual. You need only pay attention, to know the list of people that can possibly be on this team. And the points I make are very valid, and I won't repeat them.

The donations are set, as we get closer to the trip. We need verification, not opinion of who are the best 5 players current and in practice. Sounds very logical to me. And if someone can't make it, and immediate runner-up to replace them.
 
I dont think RTD's skills can be so easily questioned. RTD seemingly dissappeared for a while then he came back and dominated the scene. According to him he does it all with training mode. So the simple fact that he hasn't been around doesn't imply that his skills have dwindled.

As for KDZ, he's been able to do well with many characters, I think with time to decide he could zone in on a character he wants to stick with. Also there's a certain amount of skill a player has regardless of who they are playing, thats why good players have been able to pick up alternate characters and still do well. so I think KDZ is still a good bet.
 
What ever the US Team you ll have, I really do think that the French Team will win. It's not gonna be like Cannes2K4. However, I could be wrong but the matches I have seen from some of the French top 10 are very impressive. I even do think that Malek should not be in the top 5 (sorry Malek ^^')
 
I will say this right now:

If Malek isn't in the top 5 for the main event team tournament, I will OCV the French Team in 5v5.

So you guys better figure that shit out.
 
Davids: Malek won the world tournament that is EVO. So unless everyone was just clowning around, the reason you win a HUGE tournament is because you're top class in your country.

In looking at the top Voldos, you'd better not be looking at my NVGA placing. I had to take half dead Koreans to the hospital. Besides that, my placings are only outshined by Alpha.
 
What's the word on Alpha anyway? Is he planning on going to Cannes?

I've only played KDZ and Thuggish one time ever, and SU twice if you count tournament and then casuals abit after. Only reason I'm posting is because SU is making it sound like I've been beaten by all these people tons of times.
