Little curious on how people rank these 2 on difficulty to master.

Ivy: Has 3 interchanging move lists with a 4th stance to mix it up. Stance switches cause more 2 button presses than most characters would have to do. She also has the 2 hardest moves in the game iCS, JF-5.

Setsuka: Requires a constant focus to perfect and intricate execution. Most combos are JFs. Has the most JFs.

Why is Taki not a choice? imo, Taki is one of the hardest characters to master. Also, I seriously mastered Hilde in a few days. Sit and practice the doom combo for about half an hour, practice doing it in battle for about half an hour, and then you're a decent Hilde player.

I find the mechanic hard to use on the fly without putting too much thought into it. It's one thing to be able to use a character...it's another to master. So seeing a good hilde i can sense a level of difficulty of knowing when to charge and when to have the button open all while keeping track of counts.

I may remove her, but for now...

Lol jesus, how do i fix the title (I'm dropping hilde). Also how to drop her from poll.

That's a little biased, and I would add Yoshi and Maxi as choices.

iCS is a 7 directional input with a JF...
JF-5 is the most demanding JF sequence in the game hands down...

Not saying other sequences aren't hard but I think the only character who requires as much percision is Setuska simply because she's ALWAYS pulling JFs even though executing one may be easier, it's when you use them all the time and in combos that the dispute comes up. Ivy has the luxury of not need her JFs.

I can see other characters as hard but I think it's common acceptance these 2 are on a different level because they require more dexterity and focus to your characters scenario (whether it be a failed JF on set or a stance change on ivy)

This pole is to biased to even participate in. Take a move set likes yoshis, or maxis, and it would take years to master either of them. I dont see those 2 characters on any different level as far as being "hard to master" Some characters are harder than others yes, but those 2?

Setsuka/Ivy/Hilde - Who's hardest to Master?

Setsuka, hands down.

There are good Ivy players out there who use her and win consistently. (Linkrkc)
There are NO Setsuka players out there who win consistently even though people put Setsuka at near the top of the tier lists.

People just can't take advantage of the things Setsuka offers in excellent punishers, high damage combos, and even high damage throws due to her extremely strict and unforgiving inputs that you have to throw out on a consistent basis.

In instances where most chars woudl just 2K or B,B or other simple input she has to use JFs to full actualize her potential.

Setsuka, hands down.

Nixed Hilde for ya. Mastery as far as consistent inputs? Setsuka. Mastery as far as using well? Zas, Mi-Na, Rock, Talim, and Tira stick out.

Not to sound biased, but def. Setsuka, everything from just inputs to wavedashing to buffering every one of those damn umbrellas, makes her the character most likely to force you to throw your controller at the wall.... for short, the hardest.

i think you just don't have seen a good sets player. they DO exist. the fact that they are so rare, though sets is indeed put higher on the tier list, proves that she's by far the most difficult to master.
all hail Setsuka (and hypnotoad ofcourse)

Seems like Taki would be somewhere up there. You have to be really on your game with her; she doesn't have a lot to fall back on if you're having an off day.

I can usually nail Setsuka's JF stuff all day long, barring umbrella juggles which I'm still a little iffy on, but Tira has that 66666B, 44444K crap with which I am completely lost.

Also, personally, the lack of buffer for those umbrella juggles is way harder than actually inputting the JF stuff.

mastery over a character is definately not just saying u can perform X input at Y timing.
This type of difficulty is best done in training mode, then tried to apply in a real fight when the pressure is on, down to you memorizing the required timing/dexterity needed.

Some other points that you didnt' mention is if a character lacks any thing really solid/bread-butter/reliable catch-all moves, and relies on a large part of their movelist, in order to correctly respond to the opponent's attacks and movements..as well as being able to mixup a varied offense (because most their movelist has so many weaknesses and is situational).

Ivy I can see this more than setsuka in this category.....but I think there are other characters that are more difficult in this regard

I would definetly have to go with ivy on this one i think both charcters take a lot of skill to "master" but ivy isn't as straightfoward as setsuka. Setsukas move list is so limited you really don't have to sit there and sift through trash to find her good moves and setsuka has no stances to worry about just a lot of just frames. I haven't really read every reply on this thread but i was wondering if anyone mentioned how hard it is to "master" tira. You can't control her stance changes, she hurts herself, most of her good moves are either just frames or counters, and in my opinion shes got one of the worst damage to speed ratios in the game.

I dropped her name in my post. She's not easy to use by any means, but it's not as bad as it seems at first glance. HP loss definitely doesn't help but that's only with a few moves so you havta train yourself to not just throw those out.

Not true. Most of her good moves are basic things. There's no need to be fancy. If space + BB is all it takes to win then I'll do that.

I'm not following you on the speed/damage ratio thing. She's not slow but I wouldn't mind her doing more damage with non-mood change combos.

Put your Taki up against the right Setsuka, like mine, Vivico88 or destinizish's and you'll see why Taki isn't up there. Yes, Taki's PO and what-not are hard to do consistently but against Setsuka they will get you punished. 24~24 and 24~23 will get you umbrella'd every time. It just leaves her too vulnerable if you ask me. Even against Ivy.

But I'm a setsuka player, so it would be easy for me to just agree with the rest for obvious reasons. I honestly had no trouble picking up Setsuka, she came natural to me. Thats why I love her so much. But Ivy..........That bitch is another world. To me she's always been one game ahead of her competition. In SC2 she was from SC3, in SC3 she was from SC4...Now she's from SC5. I can't get a grasp of her stances for shit because they're all so different, and transitions don't always make for good combos. So, for me. I say Ivy. Even though I voted Setsuka, just for the luhlz.
