algol hands down the cheapest wit them damn bubbles and all that range and his combos are strong as shit. i used to think it was siegfried but then i noticed, almost all the characters have something cheap about them. but still im sticking with algol.

lol..loved it. I'm still waiting for my "win" button order to come through for SF4.... evidently Sanwa buttons aren't good enough for me :P... Sadly it seems its still on back-order :( lol. Until then I'll just have to press the other buttons I have available.
dude... he's 14... i don't think he gets sarcasm necessarily. A lot of the more recent posters I've seen seem to be younger in age than the norm of the site. i've seen a few ppl completely miss the dripping sarcasm on a statement recently...
sigh... if you are getting rung out with one hit left you should be laughing or sobbing. /laughing because you realize you fucked up... at which point you say "good job...I won't let THAT happen again" or crying cuz you SUCK so hard that you are repeatedly getting rung out with little health left... learn to space yourself and realize where on the screen you are. Unless you are playing hilde it is 95% your fault when you get rung out. And against most good players you'll get your ass beat on a wall so who cares?

No character is cheap: but the PLAYER can make it cheap if they choose to
"characters are not cheap" *+1 point. The player can make it cheap "-1 point" .. I 'm sorry but the correct answers where characters are NOT cheap. And only LAG can make a character "cheap." And to that point if it bothers you that you lose to someone INTELLIGENTLY using lag (cuz a lag spammer is gonna STILL lose all the time unless you are dumb enough to play in 1 bars..lol..or live in the Bermuda triangle) then make sure you don't play as laggy or games or just don't play online at all. You've got to roll with the lag punches in ANY game you play online. Otherwise yous just gonna get frustrated and sound like a bitch complaining to stuff (not calling you a bitch..no worries ;P).
The only thing that is cheap is a move or combo that is BROKEN. unless clearly stated by the game creators...100% combos are "cheap" because they are "broken." I'd ASSUME a move that TJ, TC and impacted mids all at the same time while simultaneously damaging the opponent for 1 point of damage (did I mention it has 0 start up and 0 recovery frames?) would be broken because it doesn't make sense and CAN BE SPAMMED WITHOUT ANY POSSIBLE RAMIFICATIONS. Other things of the sort. This game has NON of those things. The CLOSEST thing to that... would be hilde's "doom" combo. But while I don't care much for the whole idea of moves that negate AC... they purposely put these moves in there. And the move ISN'T pressing a win button because of execution..character specifics...and being able to impact/step. Not only that.. but with the proper spacing all but a few levels are quite manageable against even a GREAT hilde. So no.. hilde is not cheap.
Seriously.. someone please tell me when mitsu's 2k B combos into his 1A and his 1A combos into his 2k B. Once that happens I'll label mitsu god tier. Online of course its irritating. But so is 99.9% of the cast simply because of the fact you have to anticipate lows rather than react to them.
Think of it like this... whenever you put in a game that has online capabilities the game tends to state "online interactions not rated by the ESRB." This is ..in part.. because its not their JOB to tend to online. IN the same way its not the creators of SC4 or any other game to police the latency of people's matches... which means the online version of SC isn't built to necessarily be "uncorrupted." And therefore we shouldn't even bother to try and complain about this is cheap and that is cheap... because if they messed with it they would screw up things for offline..which is what the ACTUAL game is SUPPOSE to be. Simply put... if you are playing in lag... it is your connection's fault and so the other person and you yourself should be free to play eachother with whatever moves you want. Maybe its not "the most fun" to use 1A mixed with mids all day... but unless you and your opponent make a UNDERSTANDING that NEITHER of you want to play like that... there really isn't anything wrong with it.
And don't get me wrong... there are plenty of times online that I've been pissed about lag.... PLENTY of times... fighters shooters racers all sorts of times. But I never blame it on the other person. I blame it on myself and on the connection. Which is who deserves the blame. The OPPONENT NEVER DESERVES THE BLAME UNLESS THEY ABUSE. That is... unless they use something broken then there is no harm no foul. If Mitsu's 1A was safe on block it STILL wouldn't be unfair offline cuz you could still ANTICIPATE jump it. Even online everything has a counter response. Honestly the game can almost be thought of as more of a MvC2 type of game in bad lag because once someone knocks you down you have to play guessing games to survive. So really... if you just simply look at online/offline as different games and think of one to be SC4 and the other MvC (soul calibur) 4 then you'll enjoy the game more and not have a reason to have a thread like this...
so to anyone who find soul calibur unfair or broken.... I say to you ...and I quote from the proverbial Grimlock "you wrong...and you ugly too"

Play as Rock, Seong Mina, Setsuka, Talim, Tira, Xianghua, ...and probably some others...
And then explain how someone can choose to be cheap with them. I'd list Maxi too, but there are too many tools who believe that he's god-mode online.

well.. about maxi... while not god-mode he does get considerable buffs compared to his offline counterpart. its not like he's "unfair"..just better online than offline...thats all. Hopefully the ppl saying "he is god-tier" mean what I just said and not what you infer.
also sets and X are really really bad examples for your little list there...lol. Sets is as close as the game gets to an "unfair" character (which I must quickly add is "not even close to unfair") simply because of her safety and X is fast so of COURSE she is unfair ..DUUUHH. and the ppl that run around calling characters cheap would EASILY put rock there... because they don't know how to break throws ;P . and while def not even good ONLINE (poor mina..) she does become slightly more playable online (same with talim...). But I don't think his comment was about online as much as in general.

With Rock I spam 22B for CF cause it's too laggy to step, Mina I spam iFC 1B and 1A, Sets- I talked about her already, Talim, shes fast as hell, online= can't interrupt her shit, X SXSing you all the damn time.

They are all there to be used, so use them.

Yoshimitsu can be a cheap bastard but it has nothing to do with his life drain, sorry. It's all about the quick mixups, easy ring outs and iMCF.
I'm sometimes guilty of that, but most of the time it hits nothing. People just have to be crawling on the side for a while and 22B will be wasted... and should be easily, painfully punished. Same for Seong Mina's FC1B, it might work 30 times against a poor player, but others will expect it when you're far away. And used that way, it's nothing but a poke.
...Is this thread about being cheap against clueless newbies, or is it about being cheap online?

okay... so..how could a FRAME be cheap??? lol... i'm humored by the lingo. anyway... his lifedrain isn't that great especially if you don't know how to imcf after you do it. So if your playing ppl that complain about THAT.. well then.. you are playing trashy ppl at the game...in which case you might want to reconsider saying anything more about whats cheap or not until you've played some ppl on 8way. And if you read what boring ryu's link was you'd see how funny your "people who are cheap are people who do anything it takes to win" comment sounds. So you are saying that whenever you stun a person you stop attacking? When they have 1 hp left you let them ring you out for free? Unless thats how you play... you are doing whatever it takes to win... they are just doing it better than you. Make-believe "honor" in fighting games is just people's attempt to be lazy about certain moves. Instead of learning to get around them they jump around calling them cheap and saying that they are "honorable" by not using them themselves.
that being said I recommend looking through the combos, the tekken moves, and just in general the yoshi forums as well as learning how to do imcf. it will improve your game greatly.

You know if you had a PS3, I could show you what my Yoshi is all about.
I not only use tekken moves, I use them effectively.
Here's a pieces of my gameplay:
one minute I doorknock you after sweeping you and then when 6 pops up, I run away.
Then, I use the incomplete somersault if the second digit is 5 to confuse opponent when I far and if they get close body slam. But most times its just fun to play around.
I use 4 to get out of hectic situations like if I'm getting pressured.
that Kunimitsu unblockable comes in handy.
3 to guard impact to disrupt your combos.
Or when 23, 13, 3 pop up, use the flaming uppercut from Jin. But its risky!
As for combos i can do a bunch thanks to 8-way.
But my Yoshimitsu is all about tricks.
First I think on my mind is be random.
And if my opponent is clueless, then I start applying pressure.
Oh yeah I fought about 75% of the best in PSN.
They are on a higher level than I am but, I'm just below them.
And we did trade a few wins and losses from each other.
But, I actually didn't care about that.
I play SC4 for competition and fun.
But mostly fun.
