SCIV DLC for SCBD not possible

At this point, if anything gets released for console, I think it will be a stand-alone game. They can either leave Kratos just on the PSP, or give 360 some Microsoft character. Although that's reeeaaaallly reaching with the way things look right now.

I know the perfect character for the 360 version... Blinkx the Time Traveling Cat... you know, since he can travel between realms of different time zones and his attacks can be based on the weapons he finds in his world, and he can use a vacuum to suck up b- *gets hit in the back of the head with a shovel from a 360 user* X_X.

I'm still curious... Why are we trying to add a 360 exclusive character for "fairness" sakes? Sony and Namco don't need to "justify" adding Kratos to the PS3 version. They can just do it if they feel like it (and for the money).

I should probably mention the kinds of antics Namco pulled with Tekken 5-6.

First there was Tekken 5
Then there was Tekken 5.1 but not in America
Then we got it...

Then DR was announced but it would ONLY be available in Japan.
Then it came out in the states but only on PSP.
Then the download for DR was offered on the PS3.

Then announced T6 at E3 in 06
It was presumed exlusive because the arcade machine used PS3 Cell
T6 hit arcades in fall/winter of 07
the Game sucked...so they polished it
T6BR announced and its gonna be multi-platform (the mods at zaibatsu crapped themselves)
T6BR will be released in fall 2009 (3 years after T6 announced!!!!)

Bottom line...its safe not to guess with Namco. Just wait n see.

or perhaps... if anything
they'll say screw you to xbox and just release it for PS3...

i wouldn't mind if they did that

You can't compare what Namco has done with Tekken to Soul Calibur. Namco clearly shows more support towards Tekken than with Soul Calibur, so I'll just expect them to come out with a new Soul Calibur down the road so that they can charge $60 for it instead of trying to make DLC that only a limited number of people are going to buy.

Why do one when you can do both? Release the add-on content that's already made, then make a new one! More money!

That would be insulting our intelligence.

They would release DLC at 1000 MS points.
Then 5 months later they'll release Soul Calibur Broken Destiny The Arcade.
Charge arcades like $10,000 per cab.

Then 4 months later they annouce the Console Port of SCBDTA.
With new costume parts and guest characters.
And charge you $60 for the console port.

Then 2 months later they announce SC5.

When SCBD is released....

we will be using the Joystick -> PSP converter then use PSP -> TV output to make pseudo console version...

take a look at the other thread to see joystick -> PSP in action... it looks like this is possible....

However I do believe there MIGHT be some minor lag issues... but will let you know once SCBD is released.

If we use joysticks in this game, it'll be because the PSP: Go! supports them, not via some kind of crazy hardware hack that 1 out of every 200 players will be willing to do.

your loss

it's a suggestion that we'll most likely end up doing...

I don't give a rats ass if you guys do it or not...

I'm just more excited now that it might be able to be played as 'pseudo console' considering all HK players are stick players, this makes it an extremely good news for us.

Brother: if there's an American who WOULD do that hardware hack, it's me. I'm just saying it won't work as a standard for most players.

I'll post the details once this has been made.. the video of the Chinese guy and the cameraman are both my friends... I will ask them how they do it the next time I see either one of them...

but they have already agreed to help us modify it if we want to do that...

I hope we don't have to go that far just to play the game competitively. Namco needs to be smart and release a patch, new game, whatever. But, they won't. It will probably go down the path Tekken:DR went.

Anyway, on the topic of a XBOX exclusive character, I'd wanna see Ryu Hyabasa, Ninja Gaiden. What Kratos has going for him is a lot weapon choices and Ryu would be the perfect choice for that. But that won't happen more then likely cause the DOA creator thinks his game is the premiere fighter, LOL. Anyway, another choice could be Dante. Same thing and he'd fit perfectly, and it's plausible. Spawn... Again, but more bad ass. Make him use his fucking cape, chains, and powers more. He doesnt need a weapon. I love Spawn and wouldn't mind a second apperence. Or... Master Chief? LOL Just a thought.

Have you heard that the PSP Go supports PS3 controllers via Bluetooth? It may also support them via cable. I'm going to wait until the game and system are out before I consider cannibalizing anything. This may end up being easier than you expect.

devil:

I think the HK community goes pretty out of our ways to make it competitive among ourselves.... example... pretty much all the players in HK has modified their sticks...(yes i know a lot of players in US has too, but imo that's also out of their way)

example... before XBox has any sticks to use, our group literally would buy a HRAP or VHGS modify it to play on Xbox... or to make it become hybrid stick (xbox and ps3 compatible). Before SC4... we got this guy to modify SC3 console to become SC3AE so that we can practice it at home..

stuff like that.... might not be much for some players but i'm sure it's like what Phil said.. we're the 1 out 200 players that will actually go through lots of money/trouble just to get something working.....

--------

Phil:

didn't know about that thanks for letting me know in advance :)... maybe we'll just get a PSP GO if it works...

You guys made a console version of SC3AE? Oofmatic from Canada is trying to make something like that. Could you swing by the SC3 sub-forum and check out the thread about Modding SC3? We'd love to hear about what you guys were able to put together.

I doubt Soul Calibur:BD will have an arcade variation, considering its on PSP. The biggest reason to play an arcade version is to play other people in person, people who are usually complete strangers. Since you can't bring your PS3/360 around, nor do you want to invite random people to your home for games, an arcade solution is the best one. Bring in the PSP version, and you have introduced a public method to play the game against others using the Ad Hoc feature. An Arcade version would only then provide access to those who don't have a PSP/BD, however those people will most likely get their asses handed to them by the people who have been practicing like mad on the PSP version, learning all the differences. In the end, those people will not want to play against you and your stuck with people on PSP's.

There will be some people who are exceptions - those who have the PS3/360 version and are very good & they do not own a PSP. However, their market share would be so small, that the profit from catering to them would only result in a loss.

Arcades generally only serve 2 major purposes - Public Multiplayer Gatherings and Early Game Access (Pre-Console release). Sort of like seeing a movie before its out on DVD/BD. Cut out early access & Public gathering function, and they are worthless.

Even if they did release an arcade version, releasing the "port" of the arcade version wouldn't sell very well. You would effectively be handing over the 3 SW characters for 3 new characters (Kratos, Dampierre, and maybe one more). And there would be issues then to release it on the 360, due to Kratos.

The only reasonable route they will take is the following
Release Broken
3-4 Months
Release Broken DLC to Console versions (excluding Kratos from 360 version)
3-4 Months
Announce SC5
Release Maid Pack 666 for SC4.
