Thanks docvizzo, from your link to his post I was able to PM him yesterday and reading this post of yours from 2 hours ago reminded me that I needed to check for his response. Sure enough he responded and said he'd be able to sell me one so thanks again for the link!

To stay on topic, I've heard that some people have already booked their tickets for France, how much did it run you? I just....might....go just to cheer the USA folks on.

you're not competing? I thought you were hailed as a member of dream team USA. even if not, france does sound pretty badass for a trip.

So how are we going to pick Team USA?

Pfft I thought We already figured this out, We all get in a ring and whoever the last 5 people left alive get to go. On top of that if you loot the dead bodies you should have enough for 5 people to go to france. God Bless Democracy......

PS and wow someone alreasdy posted something similar. Americans are fucked up......

Krayzie - Cost me under 700... but the kicker is me and some other dudes are going to amsterdam for the week after the tourney. You better be down for that one son lets go party in the party capital of the fucking world

As far as Team USA goes I think qualifiers may be in order with character bans on people who have already made the cut. But I also think its stupid to a point because so few people are going to go. In a way it would be best to do the qualifiers there a couple days before. Also if we want to have one gathering to select the team it could be done with a RR but thats going to take a serious amount of time so we would need an event dedicated to just that. I like the idea personally because it would be nice to get a weekend session with the USA crew as a whole to tune up and share frenchie slaying tips. I would just want to see that one run somewhat close to the france trip so we definately know who is in to go and who isnt.

Oh and I want to put my name in the hat for team capitan... I have played everyone across the boards from this country and abroad and Im not selfish enough to put myself in front of others because I want to be on the team. I could honestly say of the Voldo players Ive played in this country I would be 3rd in line for busting up frenchies unless some people are on BD and havent been keeping their skills up. In the end its about who is playing the best in france and against the international competition... but well see who of you think the same

If we were being realistic a team USA would be obvious seeing how only a set number of people have proven themselves in mixed competition a.k.a majors in which skill would be measured most important and would have the greatest importance in regards to teams. This is if the team is focused on who is best qualified to handle said competition in combination with who is going and not about who wants to be on the team.

In my eyes that list is damn near perfect for team USA and I believe all are guaranteed to go except maybe Manta and other more than practical candidates like Ceirnian won't make it. Though I remember Malek mentioning teams of 8 competitors for reserve players.

Notice anything funny about those lists? They all seem to have a trend:

USA - Whores top tier

France - Uses mid tier

Everywhere Else - Uses low tier/lower mid tier

Singapore is going in with Maxi, Yunseong, Tira and Seung Mina :)

If LAU joins us, we'll have ROCK too! :)

Everyone on each of those mocked up lists are some serious competitors though so I doubt characters would matter in the end (though top tier whoring is fun even though it came from natural selection).

I'm currently studying every last unsafe, step, interrupt aspect of characters moveset's so then again maybe that will create an edge since lower tier characters are more prone to that. The U.S has this in the bag no question (smiles). You heard it hear first!

It's interesting that the themes for the teams ended up like that just like u mentioned!

It's best to put the team together with those who actually show up to France since so little interest has been shown in doing a qualifier beforehand. The team can have 8 players with 5 who will compete in each round, but the character selection has to be unique and announced prior. And if more than 8 people from the US show up, you could do a round robin beforehand. The World Cup isn't until Saturday, so y'all will have time to put a team together.

I wish I could go, but it was going to be a stretch. Whoever goes to EVO next year, I will see you guys then. Go USA!!!!

Just curious but can't there be multiple teams from one country? I mean like the french could most probably feature more than one team in the world cup. Like a france team 1, france team 2... Same with the USA.

Edit: found the answer. I hope the team event is as advertised to the americans so more than 5 will come down for the week lol. For the record, how many team world can there be?

As RTD said in his RSVP comment, for the USA, we really would need a team USA organizer for who selects the team, team captain, raised funds and probably more things to make this work for us. Only about 4 full months left for this!

Question? (Tournament organizer)

I need to know what the estimate for cash winnings are gonna be for the singles and team events. I am having some extra financial issues and to be honest between the flight cost and other expenses being out there that I expect to be expensive its not looking like I'm going to make this. Based on the possible chance to win a hefty return I might just go for it anyway so its important if someone can answer this for me.

Again, except for the part where Manta doesn't stand up to the comp in majors.

No sugar coated list in terms of results.

1. AlphaMale
2. Esom
3. Manta

That would be the preference. Just keeping it real!

Edit:

I agree!

I believe any voldo player would do out of those. I would expect esom to be the most likely to travel there I think.

Also I think they said that the world cup team would be10,000. So that split 5 ways would be 2,000 each. Also their are like 4 other SC tourneys I think. 2 solo tournaments, the 5v5 tea of anyone, and a 3v3 team. SC tourneys everyday for the 5 days! You can potentially make a lot of moolah.

Looking at the information in further detail. It mentions that only the "main events" will have a cash prize. If I'm reading things correctly the "main events" are...

SC4 "Basic Team Tournament" 03/05/2010
SC4 "National Team Tournament" 03/06/2010
SC4 "Singles Tournament" 03/06-07/2010

The estimated $10.000 seems to be the maximum cash prize distributed between these three tournaments and is an estimate based on how many show up.

*The entire event will take place 03/03-07/2010 but the "main events" will take place from 03/05-07/2010.*

If i'm gonna make it to this event due to financial issues, college conflict, etc. I will have to focus on arriving just for the three "main event" days which is 03/05-07/2010.

I will make the plane ticket money from taking 1st at NEC10 to make life easier.

Malek & Asenka:

Could someone help clarify the above please?

Yes, your right.

Only the main events will have cash prize yes, but not only SoulCalibur4:
Official "Main Event" Tournaments :

- Soulcalibur IV (Solo)
- Soulcalibur IV (5vs5)
- Soulcalibur IV (World Team Cup)
- Tekken VI (Solo)
- Street Fighter IV (2vs2)
- Guilty Gear XX Accent Core (3vs3)
- The King Of Fighters 2002 UM (Solo)

This is correct.

And about the 10000 euros (= 14747$), it's the estimated cash prize for main events based on how many people will enter the comp. Right. And we think (we are pretty sure in fact) that the competition with the most of cah prize will be Soul4 solo of course.

I don't know if you expect to won more money that you spend for your trip in France... but as an example, for USA I spend approximately 2000euros and won only 900euros with NewJersey comp (solo+team) + EVO.
I'm afraid the day where a Soul player can WON money with the game is not there yet...

Next,
If you want to come only for the main events, remember that the competition is in Cannes.
And most of the flight between USA and France are Paris-NewYork.
So once in Paris, you still have to come to Cannes.

An airport close to Cannes is Nice, and there is a bus Nice-Cannes everydays (~15euros).

There is also some train (SNCF).
For now, a train between Paris and Cannes cost 20euros but the prize will soon rise...
If this is what you want to use, I suggest you buy your ticket soon.
I can help for that. Ask me.

Is it clear now ? Should I explain something else ?
Fell free to ask.
