DEVASTATION 2010 - SC4, T6, SSF4, Halo 3 and more!

Jedi Robb: Thanks for that Re-posting of the hotel info. Last year I went to La Quinta in for more cash than it was this year. Bout to get my room reserved soon.

Cool beans guys...

I know the Hyatt just got all new flat panel TVs - I am going over there to chat this next week so I will take a peek at the model and hook ups. I am sure they are not tourney worthy but they may be able to get by if you would rather not lug a monitor along with you...

The rooms are available up through June - should they come back and mention they are full when you go to register let me know and I will get more added... I only mention that because we had that come up last year and ended up adding about 90 rooms by the time it was all said and done.

If I recall, they only hold the card number to reserve and not charge anything - you can call and see.

I'm going to see if I can finagle my way into going to this ON TOP OF GAMME. At least I get free room & board out there.

I can house people if you don't mind floor space. All of my beds/couches are already taken. There are 5-6 people staying at my place, but I have a decent sized house so there's a ton of room (floor space).

If you're not driving, transportation to the event from my place could be an issue though. My car will hold 6 (7 with me), but I'll have to be there early and stay late every day.

Also, if enough people pre-register by the end of April, I'll personally raise the pot to $1000. Let's say... if we get another 25 people pre-registered for SC4 by the end of April I'll raise the pot.

Hajime... you have to come!

well i'll be there for sure and have no plans of pre-registering. i'll be paying in cash and i don't even know for sure which afternoons i will be able to go. hell, i may end up just going every evening for casuals like i did last year... you should include 8wayrun RSVPs because i suspect many of us will be paying in cash.

Id like avoinding the pre reg myself if possible. I do like getting things cheaper though. We will see what happens. I deffinalty will be there though.

Sadly I don't think I'm going to have the money to come out there for this, but, if I win enough money (here's hoping) at Gamme, I'll use it to come out to Dev.

Online Registration is MANDATORY

Hey everyone...not that this is bad news but we want to make sure we let everyone know that DEVASTATION will be an "online-only" registration; no day-of/on-site registrations will be accepted. We had to make the change this year to make sure that we are able to bring you the best event possible and, while it will really only impact some of you, we wanted to let you know while you still had two months to get your registration taken care of.

So, again, no on-site or day-of registrations are available - you must register online to compete.

Here is a blog post about the change to online-only:

ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES MONDAY, JUNE 14TH AT 9:00 PM PST

Whew, glad you told us this news. I never pre-register for anything unless I have to so I was planning to just show up with cash in hand like I always do for tourneys. Since I'm a major procrastinator, I'll probably still end up waiting until the 1st week of June to register, lol.

Okay, can you repost this in about a week or so? I'm horrible at remembering things like this and will probably wait until the last minute as usual. Lol

What payment methods are accepted before I go through the registration process?

And now that I am starting to get my health back, I am starting to get my hype back.

And where the party at? Let's do it big!!!!!!!!!!

wait how on earth does turning down walk-in players possibly help the event in any way?

i am confused. for example...i will be there FOR SURE...but i very well may have to work that afternoon and only be available for casuals in the evening. that is about a 50% chance for me. so i have to either gamble away registration fees or resign early not to enter...even though i very well may be there all day?

lame.

Ha, you and everyone else...

You can bet we will be reminding everyone from now until registration closes!

Just about everything is accepted credit card-wise including PayPal... you should have no issues.

Good question.

For sure you will be able to attend all weekend for FREE to play casuals, etc. So you can come and go as you please for that.

If you are only able to attend in the evening you will probably miss SCIV anyways as that should start in the afternoon.

As for helping the event... should we really hold up an entire bracket, and potentially the other tournaments as well, of people that did register online for players that may or may not attend? Do you know how long it takes to actually process people through registration and build the brackets? To be able to pull off all the events we are running we need to implement this online process - it was going to happen for sure next year and I really did do everything I could to make it run smoother this year for day-of (extra people, computers for registration instead of forms, etc.) but, in the end, even those improvements would not be able to manage the process in a timely fashion so we had to remove it completely. It is one of those tough-love scenarios.

I just went through the registration process which was pretty simple. I prefer doing a walk-up to an event, but if you know you are going to be there, you might as well just go ahead and register. It's not that bad.

I'm also in that SSF4 so I at least have something else to play while there. And what's the numbers for SC4? We got to get at least one side event going on for Calibur.

But I haven't been to Phoenix in 10 years, so I'm excited. And from now until June, I'm going hard at this Calibur. I'm not going 0-2.

You never know, you might get Krayzie first round, and then somehow find another good player in losers...it could happen to anyone...

I hope I get at least 1 or 2 byes like at EVO.....

Don't mention me like I'm any good. I predict I will go 0-2 in this tourney.
