Maybe you can enlighten my intelligence. What's so "bad" about sc4? How long have you played the series? How come no one's heard of you until SC4? Hmmmmm? So far your posts....are....interesting to say the least. However all I've seen from your posts are comedy. (And not the comedy where you're funny...but the comedy that makes me laugh because of the ignorance I read) now grant it...you do make a few valid points.....a few only.

I dont like the game for my personal reasons, but I have a right to not like the game just like the 10 of you who still do. I find it entertaining that I havent contributed anything to the community when I am one of the top 3 Zasalamels if not THE best Zas on PSN. I pumped that forum up if it werent for me getting the ball rolling there wouldnt even be any posts in that forum. Of course I cant be a tourney player because nobody has SC tournaments lol. But whatever.

Statements like this are clear examples that you lack the necessary facts to even form opinions. SC is more popular. Sales show it and even a quick poll will support it. Casuals love the customization, bonus/guest characters, and easy to grasp mechanics. The game peaked at SC2 and dropped with SC3 came out. It has since been growing with SC4 despite SC4:BD's failure (but we'll blame that on the platform mostly).

How the hell do you say you're a top 3 Zas and then say you've never played a tournament (and no, online tournaments do NOT count). Lets be honest no one in the competitive community thinks ANYTHING of PSN rank for several reason:

1. You can cherry pick wins
2. The system is flawed since it's poorly weighted. It literally comes down to who's played longer, not better.
3. LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG.
4. Playing well in lag is generally an indicator you have thrown out core offline skills and replaced them with one's that fair better in lag. Sure a skilled player learns to adapt to a scenario, but the alterations vastly skew the concept of reactive skill to a point any online skill is considered null and void in offline play.

Online "skill" means NOTHING. There's a reason the top 100 are all names no one's ever seen in a tournament. Most "skilled" players that succumb to lag calibur or watered down anti-lag tactic calibur play player matches. Many many good players suck ass online and man many terrible players are incredible online.

As well posting a lot does not mean you contribute. Contributions are if you get people to come to the site, help users, offer INTELLIGENT debate to further game play discussion, fill/submit out data such as those in the wiki and combo threads, etc...

This is a site meant for Soul Calibur, yes it can cater to other discussion purposes, but at it's core it's a focus site. If you hate the game, you constantly seem to be in turmoil with users (I have dealt with you trolling on several occasions in the past), and posting things that reflect a serious lack of knowledge of the very game you hate yet claim to be pro at...why are you here? Dare I say GaiaOnline lets you dress your avatar. It may be more your thing.

Well if you're saying as a console game Tekken 6 is more popular you're wrong.

As an Arcade game in Asia, I can see how it's very popular. But in comparison with SC4 not only did Tekken 6 sell less copies within the same time frame, it's offline competition died way faster than SC4's.

Artilust hates this game because of online. Infact he doesn't hate this game at all, he just wishes online was basically offline or something like that.

In addition I will say this, I don't see from business standpoint how Namco can actually continue recreating the same stale engine that is Tekken. The people that play this game are old, many oldies but still. This game can't even attract me to play it. It has no appeal at all that's why SSF4 just ate it up. SSF4 is what the kids are playing.
 
artilust i have been on psn steadily for about 2 years now playing this game and i honestly do not recall ever coming across you. as one of the best zas players i find that quite strange. who am i kidding, though, i am beating around the bush.

Tekken 6 is a great game but SSF4 is that new flavor now it seems this installment is more popular than it's predecessor. Big difference in companies too Capcom is a monster they have high production values and have a rich history. Besides SC/tekken Namco isn't known for having much success.

If you feel like you've gotten everything out the game and it seems repetitive move on. For SC hardcore players i expect them too keep playing till SC5. As much as he probably hates online it's the only thing that is keeping this game going.
 
Right now, it's not about who in this forum likes what game more, it's about the sales and the money overall. I suppose people are confused since Tekken didnt sell as much as SCIV yet it's been announced that they're already developing a new one. But while I'm here, my personal opinion on Tekken is, it's boring as shit now. I liked it for about a month but now what? I've never played a SF game in my life and I'm more drawn to that than Tekken. As a matter of fact, i think I'll go out and buy that this weekend. Just because.

This is the 4th time have I said I dont like Soul Calibur 4. Online is maybe 20% of the real issue. I still like Soul Calibur.


There are only 4 titles in this series so some of you arent grasping this, but Street Fighter for instance you would see that the community as a whole is separated between Turbo, CE, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, HD Remix, VS(XvS, MvC1, MvC2), 3 and Super. I think vanilla is HORRENDOUS, I thinking CE is HORRENDOUS. I love 3 and I like Super more than vanilla. I think MvC is more polished than MvC2, MvC2 is so broken that its fun so I play MvC2 and never play MvC. Just about everybody thinks SF4 is pretty weak, why do people still play it? Why do they complain? DO I need to stop visiting SRK because there are two titles that I dislike?

And the logic youre using against me is "well just stop POSTING HEREEEZ!!"

I hate SC4, but I still play it? Why? Who knows. Deep down maybe I believe SC5 will somehow get it right after the series has clearly been taking a downward spiral since SC1? None the less its all we have. If SC2 was online I'd play that. If SC3 was online I'd play that. I play a game I dont like because it would be a big waste of the last 10 years playing Soul Calibur, thast probably why. In the meantime Im going to bitch and bitch and bitch and bitch about how much SC4 sucks until a SC5 comes out, and if I dont like that I will bitch and bitch and bitch until SC6 comes out and if I like that then i'll shut the hell up. Maybe.

Again, if you missed it the first time:

I DO NOT LIKE SOUL CALIBUR 4. I like 1. I like 2. I kind-a like 3. I hate 4. If I list the reasons why, which are my reasons it'll just give you a reason to try and "prove me wrong" or something to that effect. For starters I think CF gauge is ridiculous, especially for characters that are weak at crushing gauge and gives no incentive to just turtle if you wish. I like exhausting the guard button, but thats just me personally. Thats how I feel PERSONALLY. Fighting games dont need finishing moves. Thats how I feel personally. Siegfried is faster than Talim. lol. Fighting games dont need guest characters. SC4 system wise contradicts itself. But those are just a few reasons, that if you just all them ALL up together, SC4 leaves a bad taste in my mouth. You shouldnt be thrown out of WC attacks, these are my opinions. Just know that I dont like the game, and Im not alone seeing as how a chunk of the Calibur players went right back to Tekken for T6. I expect someone to pick this apart somehow, forgetting that I still will fell the same way about this game.


But thats not really the issue. Agree or disagree, I dont go to tourneys because I work on Saturdays, and nobody plays Soul Calibur anymore here. Im not a tournament person im a gatherings person. Again, thats just me. The old Calibur players here have moved on to Tekken or Street Fighter, or life, so as far as me having no opinion because I dont go to tournaments is just ridiculous.


The real issue is I disagreed with you. What more is there to say? Some of you seem to think I owe you an explanation or something. Im not going to stop posting here so if me not liking ONE GAME in a 4.5 title series annoys you so much just keep making fun of me being in the emergency room and posting pictures of me you snooped around Shoryuken.com's forums for.

No, you can, but just not in the most annoying way possible. You don't really see people write "Because this game is the fucking best" or run around justifying why they think the game is even better than what people think it is. Because you're doing that right now, only, the opposite. Yes you can hate things. Yes you can say it. But if it gives people the shits for long enough like it is now, you could at least, well, you know, not do that?

Artilust itz okay not to like SC4, but to say shit against the community is counter-productive; this Was SCIV a failure? is a prime example.

As for why we love SC4 despite the outcome, well we have our own reasons. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure ppl here are trying other games of interests while hanging on SC4 as a favourite pastime.
