Soul Calibur V Assets from San Diego Comic-Con!

In preparation for the upcoming Namco Fighting Games Panel at the San Diego Comic Con (the countdown on the front of 8WR is currently counting down till the panel); Namco has released some new assets and character artwork which confirm Ivy, as well as a stage without ringouts.

The most stunning of all this is that the male character silhouette that Daishi leaked to us last week is not Raphael, which I'm sure most of us assumed, but is instead a new character named "Zwei" (German for "two"). He also appears to be holding his sword in a "tonfa-like" fashion.

It won't be too much bigger, seeing as most new characters are just replacing..

 

Hm, Tago-san said something about "approximately 26 characters", so that's a whole row of slots less than in your picture...

 

i like the guy with the sword, just the sword, he only has a single short sword, thts actually pretty cool, its probably the most basic idea sc4 has dawned upon us yet.

Nice one Trace! Endless stages seem cool, but please NAMCO for whatever reason do not change the side stepping controls to like Tekken, it sucks on that game.

 

Oh, and I hope that the selection screen will be like the one from SCII.

PLEASE just remove this inner glow + plastic-like textures please! Game looks like too much SC4 with these effects. SC2 and 3 had better style of art imo.

As for Zwei, lol, is he replacing Talim?
Anyway, I think that he is a member of Schwarzwind and this is his nickname. Sieg calls him Zwei, for some reason, just like Dr. House calls one of his doctors "13"..... That would be lol right?

As for Ivy, she wears more clothes!!! LOL!

The new Taki-student looks pretty cool!!!

And I hate when I see pics where Sieg gets his butt kicked...

Hmm...if Zwei were on Schwarzwind, you think he'd be a close ally to Nightmare? Seems like an interesting story to put together, but I kinda have my doubts on it. Unless you saw that he's actually on Schwarzwind somewhere, in which case, kwl.

 

Pretty much everything about this announcement is fine to me.

Ivy managed to get classed up without removing the sex appeal completely.

Zwei looks interesting from the in game shots (Though the tonfa grip in his model pose is kinda lame)

New-Taki looks fine in game.

The arena stage is pretty awesome.

The only thing that worries me is the 'endless' stage. I really, really hate that kind of design in a game like SC. ;/

Well, it'd be like inferno's SC2 stage, which I actually think could be pretty cool. It would be interesting for lack of both wall combos and ring outs, meaning the only thing enabling the players are themselves, and the match is played more by a jury of skill than setup.

Why do you slag off Ivy? Amy is just a rip-off from Raphael but Ivy's movelist is unique so Amy is just a bonus character in reality...she even has to get Raphael to get whatever she wants because she is so useless..
